There were lots of things Kyle required, but resources for cultivating were not exactly amongst them.
Thus, it was better to take a look at specific treasures, which made him quite excited.
However, considering that the rewards of the first trial had already been great, Kyle was not sure how exactly one single reward for every trial could be better.
Beatrice had gifted him a spatial ring, seemingly without a reason, followed by the tools for the three basic auxiliary occupations, many books about them, and much more.
However, at the same time, he couldn't help but feel goosebumps erupt all over his body because he was excited to walk through the treasury.
Right now, they were not under pressure. Instead, there were too many preparations that had to be done in order to allow Kyle to smoothly kill the Undeads inside the Castle.
He also had to ensure that he quickly devoured their souls in order to turn it into energy for the Nurture ability.
Afterward, the nurturing process of the Undead Heart could begin.
And, only in the end, once everything was done, the Blood pact with Beatrice could be initiated, which was what worried Kyle the most.
He was not worried about nurturing the Undead Heart, which was something he should be more concerned about than Beatrice, but that was not the case, at all.
However, when he heard that it was necessary for him to kill the Undeads, Kyle felt weird too.
The reason was quite unique wherein the beings sealed to the Undead Heart couldn't kill Undeads within its vicinity because there were Undead at the Krysal stage and even Ascerta stage.
Even if he were to use his entire strength, and the Undeads would support him in any possible way, he wouldn't be able to even scratch beings at the Ascerta stage.
He was not sure if it was possible to kill Undeads at the Krysal stage with some help owing to the fact that he was about to break into the Vitae stage.
But, that should be possible as long as the Undead powerhouses did the entire work, excluding the final blow.
Thus, he was not really worried and was further relieved when everyone except Li was told to make adequate preparations for the smooth execution of their plan to destroy the Undead Heart.
Only Li was left behind, but Kyle noticed that the Lich was probably the most nervous of them all, hoping that everything would work out.
As such, even if it was not his business, he couldn't help but ask.
"What exactly is your reason to fight so desperately against the possibility of leaving Shima? If I'm not wrong, you should be the oldest of all Undeads in the Razkadan castle… what exactly is holding you back from allowing nature to take over and let it do its work?"
Hearing the two questions, Li couldn't help but halt in his tracks.
According to their soul contract, one didn't have to answer such questions, and even asking them was forbidden.
Despite knowing that, Kyle had still asked him, which would have normally enraged Li.
However, that was not the case right now.
Instead, he was extremely calm as he stared down at his skeletal body before he sighed.
"You know, kiddo. Sometimes, life is not fair. I can only give you the advice to never trust everyone, even less your lovers and those you call your best friends…. Greed is extremely dangerous, and can even make your loved ones betray you…
Why am I still desperately trying to hold onto every possible means to stay on Shima? To retrieve my Empire? No! To take revenge on those who betrayed me? That..maybe, but it's not the main reason either…I just want to know if my children survived it…"
With a rather gloomy voice, Li finished a short anecdote of his life.
Of all the things he had heard this astonished Kyle the most who hadn't expected to get an answer.
He was not sure what exactly the 'it' Li mentioned was, but that was not important.
Rather, Kyle felt Li's reason to desperately try to stay alive, to be quite…interesting, to put it plainly.
Kyle didn't know how much time had passed since whatever incident Li was referring to.
It could very well be the case that his entire lineage had already been annihilated.
Yet, the Lich was still trying to find out what had happened.
There was no doubt in Kyle's mind that something shocking must have happened.
It was obvious that Kyle was missing too much information, but he couldn't ask and intrude.
He felt that the sole question would break apart Li's mental health, even if he was not sure why he felt like that.
As such, Kyle averted his attention to the treasury and what kind of rewards he could choose from.
Taking his time to choose a total of five rewards, he looked at everything intently.
Simultaneously, he also focussed on the preparations.
Luckily, he had already completed them well before the said time of three days.
In their spare time, he finally chose his rewards, which had taken much longer than he expected.
The treasury was filled with exceptional treasures, and there were dozens of them that were extremely useful for Kyle's purpose.
Unfortunately, he could only take five items, which restricted him severely.
This made him narrow his choice towards five items that would have the biggest long-term use.
As such, he didn't solely care about his own gains, but also those of the people who would travel around with him.
With that in mind, his first choice was a darkness attribute cultivation technique for dual cultivation veins, namely Maest and Pryr. The technique was perfect for Selene, and Kyle didn't hesitate to choose it, even though he was not sure when he would meet her again.
As for the second reward he chose, it was a book called [Lacra's secrets].
It had hundreds of recipes about the forging process of unique weapons, armors, accessories, spatial rings and so on.
Even with seemingly simple ores, one could create extremely strong alloys.
Thus, the book would serve as a perfect guide to gain benefits by learning how to forge them.
The descriptions of each recipe were extremely detailed, and Kyle was sure that he would be able to learn forging the most basic alloys.
Even though only three recipes could be properly used by beings at the Vitae stage, the book was extremely useful for future purposes.
Other than the cultivation technique he chose for Selene, Kyle picked an Energy absorption technique for himself. Apparently, some cultivators had created their own cultivation techniques.
For this they had made use of portions of techniques that focussed on one particular aspect of the technique they wanted to create.
In that way, one could create a perfectly customized technique for oneself that had the best possible traits. Fortunately, Kyle only required one portion of a technique.
It dealt with absorbing energy because Arashi would convert it either way.
For both himself and Arashi, Kyle chose a rather inconspicuous reward named the wind marble, which Kyle simply called wind orb.
He could use it in order to increase his comprehension of the essence of the wind, and Arashi could do the same.
As such, it was extremely useful for the two of them.
And last but not the least, Kyle chose the soul storage that was a small medallion that could store souls inside it. He was not sure how large the storage space was, but it was a creation Nitran and Li had constructed because they thought that it might be of use for anyone, let alone a living being such as Kyle.
In the end, it was not exactly something that belonged to the treasury.
However, owing to the origin of the materials they had used which belonged to the treasury it was counted as a reward!
Once he had chosen all rewards, Kyle was satisfied with himself and he stored away the items before turning around.
There he saw the others that had been patiently waiting behind him.
They were unable to hold back their energy fluctuations any longer.
They were simply released, revealing their true feelings, of impatience, joy, hope, and many more emotions. It created chaos as the fluctuations swept through the entire treasury.
As such, Kyle couldn't help but remark,
"Alright, I'm done, let's get to work!"
