Chapter 82: Brutal Training (1)

One day later, Rylon Star System, Alaric Star Domain, Ruusor Star Sector, Starfort Lycurgos

24 hours after Arcturus started training under the effects of the Divine Water, his proficiencies were increasing at a staggering rate, to the point where he felt that he could perhaps reach Grandmaster-ranked Proficiency in Basic Swordsmanship.

Arcturus knew that as he had Level 10 Master-ranked Proficiency in Basic Swordsmanship, it was one of the main reasons why the Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir took him as his personal disciple.

Rarely do people achieve this kind of Mastery over the Basic Skill; the number of them could be counted almost on the one hand.

Usually, not many would waste their time on such a thing, but it is only if someone achieved Mastery over Basic Skill that one could learn and master the most complicated and powerful styles of any weapon.

That was also the reason why Arcturus chose the Basic Swordsmanship Level 10 Mastery as his skill of choice for the transmigration, even though he had far more powerful Skills and Sword Styles in his disposition.

In the end, he was aware that in the long run, the Basic Swordsmanship at Level 10 Mastery would allow him to master any Sword Style in record time. Not only that, but it also increased the power of his other swordsmanship styles.

Reaching the Level 1 Apprentice-ranked Proficiency in the Nuclear Chaos Formula after one day of training, while he also trained in the other disciplines during the day, was a very good result.

Under the watchful eyes of the Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir, Arcturus trained almost non-stop; each few hours, he only got some twenty minutes of rest or so to recuperate his strengths and stamina before he would continue the training.

As the effect of the Divine Water was temporal only, so he needed to make use of every second. If not for the need to wait and recuperate a bit, he would be training non-stop. Unfortunately, that would be very bad for his body.

Right now, Arcturus was having a short pause; Arcturus used the status function of the system to observe his progress.

The gains from the first day of the training were already very good, and Arcturus was delighted with the effect of the Divine Water. He also appreciated that Grandmaster Byrmellir took it upon himself to teach him and oversee everything that he was doing personally.

The elderly Highborne Asuryani carefully instructed Arcturus on the practice of the Nuclear Chaos Formula or how to control the Dimension Empyrean better. As both of them had Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability that was extremely volatile and destructive in nature, Arcturus had much to learn from the Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir.

In the end, even though the Sardau Star Sword was a very powerful and complicated sword style, it was still inferior to the Godslayer Sword Style that the Grandmaster Byrmellir developed and polished over the centuries.

At the same time, the elderly Highborne Asuryani had to admit that the Sardau Star Sword was probably the most effective swordsmanship style that he had ever encountered. Every single move and kata that Arcturus executed had zero wasted movement and was aimed at only one single thing.

To kill.

Nothing else.

The entire style revolved only around killing the enemy.

It was a swordsmanship style specifically tailored only for killing, especially the humanoids; while the sword style could probably be used by other race types aside from the humanoids in appearance, and its efficiency would be greatly lowered.

Everything around the Sardau Star Sword was turning around swift, precise, fast strikes at the enemy's vital points and killing one enemy after another in the fastest time. He could see that once someone achieved complete mastery in the Sardau Star Sword, then dealing with the entire armies alone wouldn't be an exaggeration.

He didn't know who developed the style, but it was clear that they aimed to turn their swordsmen into one-man armies that could deal with numerically superior foes with just smaller numbers.

The great disadvantage of the Sardau Star Sword was that it lacked high offensive power and wouldn't be really useful against far more powerful foe. Its strength was directly tied to the strength of the user, and the increasement in the power wasn't a lot in fact.

With all this being in mind, Grandmaster Byrmellir knew exactly how to train his disciple in this sword style. He met a fair share of people who used similar killing techniques, even though none were so advanced, or he could even say none were perfect like the Sardau Star Sword was.

Yet, as he kept dodging and occasionally blocking the strikes of his disciple, Arcturus was improving under the visible eye. After every single minute that they were fighting, his attacks got faster, more precise, and much smoother than before.

Half an hour later, it felt like he was using an entirely different style because now his movements seemed mechanical, as if they were executed by a machine with an exact mechanical precision that couldn't be found anywhere else.

[Host is undergoing Talent Awakening due to the influence of the Divine Water.]

Arcturus completely ignored the messages from the Star Citizen Online System, as he was entirely enthralled in the battle between him and his master. He was rather addicted to it because he was constantly getting better.

'It seems that the Divine Water functioned as a catalyst for the sword talent to awaken in him... interesting, this speed of improvement is highly unnatural even under the effects of the Divine Water, which means that his talent for the sword must be really terrifying, coupled with the Basic Swordsmanship being only one step away from the Grandmaster Realm...

he could really succeed at learning the Godslayer Style.'

Grandmaster Byrmellir wanted to smile, because this was getting even better. Previously, he knew that his disciple had rather a talent for the sword, but now, it seemed that the Divine Water had awakened it entirely.

From the time when many civilizations started returning back to the concept of using cold weapons as they proved to be most dependable in the combat between High-Grade professionals, talents were valued above everything.

Even though even an absolute troglodyte idiot could kill someone with a plasma rifle, it was futile in front of someone who could move far faster than one could see. Or the fact, that Highh-Grade Warriors or Psionics had their means of defending against the plasma fire or other kinds of energy weaponry.

Some had such tough bodies that they could tank them head-on, while some would wear such advanced armor that they could withstand even the firepower of a tank. Some would strengthen their bodies with the Psionic Energy or create a Psionic shield around their skins.

There were many ways and reasons why the most advanced civilizations returned to using cold weapons.

Another thing that made him happy was that he would have a successor for the Godslayer Sword, perhaps.

While he didn't plan to die... anytime, hopefully, it would be nice to see his legacy continue and thrive.
