Unexpectedly, a gust of wind came from the darkness and a loud ‘bang’ sounded. Something had hit Zhao Jianshe on the head as the attack was both precise and ruthless.
It sounded like it hurt, much less being on the receiving end of the attack.
Since he hadn’t any form of mental preparation against the attack, Zhao Jianshe immediately fell to the ground and groaned.
“Who? Who is it?” Cried Skinny.
There was no sound from the room, but something else flew from inside and hit Skinny’s body. Another ‘ping’ sound echoed and it was known that he was also injured.
The two fell to the ground and blocked the door.
“They were prepared; run, hurry!”
Liu Chunhe and Shorty yelled as they turned their heads and were about to run away.
Lin Lan held on to Dawang, who was about to chase the culprits. She motioned for him to stop chasing after the men. After all, they didn’t know how many thieves were present, so it was not worth the harm of taking the risk if the robbers could actually fight back.
Now that the thieves ran away in a panic, Lin Lan judged that they would not force their way in and immediately shouted, “Thieves! There are thieves!”
The children in the house also shouted together, “Woof, woof, woof!” Wangwang, who was sleeping in the house, barked after realising that there was a ruckus. Soon, the nearby dogs barked and it caused a ripple effect throughout the village as every dog also started to bark.
Liu Chunhe and Shorty panicked even more as they turned around and ran, but a long leg swept over theirs unceremoniously. Hearing two ‘plop’ sounds, the duo fell down heavily.
They were in so much pain that they felt that their legs had been broken.
Han Qingsong swept the two down and managed to kick one of them as well. This kick was ruthless and skillful, causing one of their ankles to be dislocated at once.
“Ah!” the two of them screamed as if they were pigs that were being slaughtered.
Dawang had a good sense of presence as well as he felt that there was still someone outside the door. Armed with a wooden rake, he immediately made his way out to attack again.
Han Qingsong, who was about to enter the room, felt a gust of wind coming towards him and quickly shouted, “It’s me!” At the same time, he quickly bent his arms to block the blow and the wooden rake split with a crack!
Lin Lan heard his voice and was very surprised, “Han Qingsong? Stop fighting, it’s your father! Stop fighting!”
Dawang let out an exclamation before setting the weapon down.
Erwang and Maisui, who had a stick and a mallet in their hands whilst hiding in the back, were relieved. Maisui then said, “Erwang, hurry up, light up a lamp!”
Erwang had never lit a lamp in such a sloppy manner before. He struck the matchstick against the box and hurriedly lit the lamp.
On the kang, Sanwang soundly slept in a position that was unsightly as Xiaowang hugged the puppy. The child and the dog both had expressions of worry and fear portrayed on their faces as they huddled in the corner.
When the lamp was lit, Lin Lan saw Han Qingsong standing at the door. He was still carrying that big backpack of his but his tall frame made her feel very secure.
There were four men lying on the ground, each twitching and screaming out in agony.
“Come back, come in quickly,” Lin Lan leaned the wooden rake hand against the wall and quickly let Han Qingsong in. She also reminded the children to address their father.
The children did as they were told, but they continued to grip on their weapons while looking at the thieves. Dawang said, “I’m going to tell the Security Director about this.”
