A policeman asked, “What’s going on? Isn’t this Director Zhao’s sister?”
“Interrogate her yourself, this one was sent here by Deputy Director Han,” The soldiers left after finishing speaking.
The police immediately went to Captain Liu Jianyun, “Captain, what do you think we should do?”
Liu Jianyun just inquired about the situation and asked Zhao Anhong about what happened in the canteen of the Revolutionary Committee.
He sneered and said, “Oh, how rare. A vegetable seller from the Worker Propaganda Team dares to look down on the Director of the Public Security Bureau of the Commune. Well, you got your just deserts!”
Zhao Anhong’s face turned purple. Who would have ever thought that the position of the Deputy Director still held its power?
“Captain Liu, please do me a favor and ask for mercy. I-I didn’t know how to recognise gold and jade(1).”
(T/N: The phrase refers to someone not recognising a public figure or an important person. It’s usually used in situations where someone has offended said person in some way.)
Captain Liu nodded at Zhao Anhong and pointed his finger at her, “Do you think it’s useless for our Deputy Director Han to change jobs and be assigned to the Commune? Who else do you think that entire compound of platoon soldiers would listen to?”
Deputy Director Li and Deputy Director Gao couldn’t command them that well either.
Unless one was from the X Army in this province, it would be strange for those soldiers to respect a leader with no real strength.
Zhao Anhong knew that she had brought this upon herself. She begged and promised to never do something like that again, claiming that she would apologize properly to Director Han.
Liu Jianyun’s relationship with Zhao Anhong was clear as he waved his hand, “Let her go, Deputy Director Han didn’t insist on arresting her either. It’s probably just a warning.”
The policeman said, “Then who is going to relay that to Deputy Director Han?”
Liu Jianyun, “I’ll go,” He pointed to Zhao Anhong, “Follow me.”
Liu Jianyun went to talk to Han Qingsong during his lunch hours.
He had a good memory in this line of work. When Han Qingsong asked him to help send Dawang home, Liu Jianyun remembered his name. Later, Han Qingsong changed his career and registered at the household registration section of the County Public Security Bureau, so it was natural that he knew him.
A while ago, Han Qingsong came to the meeting as the Director of the Public Security Bureau of the Commune and the Armed Forces. He never publicly stated his identity as the Deputy Director of the County so some people didn’t know about it. Even so, those who knew about it did not intentionally mention it either.
However, as the Special Inspection Captain of the County Public Security Bureau, the two have naturally crossed paths with each other and Captain Liu had broadened his knowledge of the man himself.
When Liu Jianyun came by, Lin Lan was still serving broth as a side for the steamed buns for Xiaowang.
He had a smaller mouth and ate slowly, but Lin Lan was patient enough to wait for him.
She said to Han Qingsong, “You have a meeting so you can just go first and we’ll eat slowly. No one dares to kick us out anyway.”
She guessed that some of the members probably suspected that they were ordinary cadres of the Commune who took the opportunity to eat at the canteen. However, with that show of power Han Qingsong pulled just now, no one dared to say anything else.
She could even see that the people in the kitchen were smiling politely at her and the Group Leader even took the initiative to bring some boiled water over.
Han Qingsong, “It’s okay. After eating, I’ll take you to a place to rest and we can go home together in the afternoon.”
While talking, Liu Jianyun came over with a lunch box, “Director Han, I see you brought your wife and son today.”
Han Qingsong greeted him, “We’re here to re-examine the child’s eyes.”
