Sanwang was so tired that he held a death grip on his knees as he wheezed and panted. Dawang, on the other hand, seemed to be fine, but there was also a layer of sweat gleaming on his forehead.
Seeing that their clothes were soiled, making them look like two entirely different people than they were in the morning, Lin Lan asked, “You two… did you guys move bricks or something?”
Sanwang snickered lightly but continued panting, unable to speak at the moment.
Dawang, “…” He, too, provided no explanation.
As the children’s parents, they knew something was wrong at the first glance. Han Qingsong was about to have a fit as he frowned, but Lin Lan hurriedly tugged on his sleeve, telling him not to scold Dawang now.
She heard her fair share of women yelling at their kids on the roads in public, which was an unpleasant thing to hear. Children also have a sense of self-esteem and were capable of shame growing up. Dawang was especially prone to public embarrassment, so she decided to cut him some slack and let him retain his dignity. After all, she would definitely be able to extract the truth from them later on.
Sanwang wasn’t that tight-lipped, so Lin Lan planned to discreetly ask him about it afterwards.
Maisui said proudly, “We bought books, watched movies and ate candied haws.”
Sanwang immediately looked envious.
Lin Lan asked Dawang, “What did you buy?”
Dawang took out 1 Yuan and returned it to Lin Lan, “We bought four sesame seed pancakes that had meat in them and it cost 1 Yuan.”
Lin Lan, “How did you buy it without a ticket?”
“They made it themselves, so no tickets were needed.”
“Four cakes for 1 Yuan; that’s rather pricey,” Lin Lan felt that it was not worth it— after all, 20 cents were sufficient for an entire catty of flour!
Sanwang immediately added, “Mom, the pancake was big,” He made a gesture, implying that it was as big as his own face. Nevertheless, he added that it was a bit on the thinner side, which was the reason as to why there wasn’t much meat inside as opposed to leeks.
But it was delicious!
“Aside from eating pancakes, what did you two do?” Lin Lan asked.
Dawang, “We just walked around.”
Sanwang also nodded his head quickly, but the sly look in his eyes betrayed him, which meant that something must be going on.
Han Qingsong glanced at Dawang, “Tell us the truth.”
Dawang, “I am telling the truth.”
He was their child and they knew his personality like the back of their hands, so it was a no-brainer that they figured out he’s lying.
The child was definitely not telling the truth!
Lin Lan was afraid that the father-son duo would fight. Han Qingsong was serious whereas Dawang was as stubborn as a mule, so these two definitely shouldn’t argue in public.
She smiled and said, “Okay, let’s go home.”
When leaving, Dawang continued to transport 2 of his siblings by bike whilst Han Qingsong was in charge of the other 3 passengers.
Dawang was afraid that the Dark Lord would apprehend him and ask him questions, so he kicked off and pedalled away. Although his legs were not long enough, it did not prevent him from riding quickly. He swayed the bike wildly, to the point where Erwang became terrified as he was holding on to the seat behind him.
Lin Lan sat on her lap with Xiaowang in one hand and gripping Han Qingsong’s waist with the other. She whispered, “I’ll ask Sanwang first when I get home, so don’t be angry, okay?”
Han Qingsong shook her hand, “I’m not angry.”
