Chapter 189: Absurd

The first thought that struck Seth upon hearing 'Kyo-chan' was undoubtedly that single mischievous classmate he had in his last life—Sekimoto Kyouko.

The lively and fun-loving girl whom nobody could discern what goes in her head.

She was also one of the closest friends to Miyuki and others in their last life...and surely, she was the sixth person to jump off that cliff from where this all started.

And now, Laila was somehow announcing her identity as that same Kyouko about whom Seth nearly forgot?

...indeed concerning.

"...how is this possible?" Maydeath's concerned tone was justifiable, given how absurd this situation seemed to be.

Laila, who identified herself as Kyouko some minutes ago, was acquiring the center throne and fidgeting left to right while maintaining a broad smile across her lips.

It wasn't just Maydeath but the other four had the same reaction, as they assessed the girl.

"You guys don't seem to be happy seeing me. I feel like sulking you know." Kyouko halted in an instant and began wiping her nonexistent tears since she seemed to be 'hurt'Foll0w current novÊls on nov/3lb((in).(co/m)

"It isn't like that...rather, we are just confused about how you were transmigrated so late in this body. "

Saito expressed his thoughts, or more like spoke for all of them. While there was still that foreign lady standing in the middle of the court, Seth decided to first ask some questions from someone he knew.

Kyouko blinked before responding in an uncertain tone, "I...have been reincarnated in this world years ago tho...."

Seth's brows arched as he reflexively asked, "So you mean, you were living inside someone else's body until now?"

It was feasible, given how Saito also reincarnated in this same world once again after he lost his previous identity.

However, little did anyone think,

"Actually, I have lived through twenty-three bodies you know..."

""...""

They all...went utterly silent at that.

To think that not one or two but twenty-three people's bodies were killed by a single soul...was extremely bizarre and absurd.

When the group standing on the aisle seemed to be lost, the elder one spoke up,

Finally, after some moment of pause she parted her lids...only to expose the familiar pink shade.

"S-Seth..."

Her eyes were so honest that one could see how her emotions shifted from surprise to elation and finally halted at grief as tears began to drip down her cheek.

"Seth!" Laila didn't even consider what might happen because of her action or whether she was even awake or not. All she wanted was to embrace the person she dearly desired to see and such, she didn't hesitate.

Seth was so dazed upon hearing the familiar voice of the person he once adored, that he nearly fell on his back when Laila threw herself at him.

Encircling his arm around her back, Seth just listlessly embraced her. Somehow, his heart felt light and a massive weight seemed to be lifted off his shoulder once he got assurance of her safety.

Everyone in the courtroom went silent and only the echoes of her wails reverberated across the palace.

Maydeath didn't seem much affected, or more like she knew when to suppress her emotions, however, it wasn't the same for Anabelle as she turned her face away from the duo with her fist clenched.

Until she doesn't see it, Anabelle somehow can control herself...

Not so long after, Laila's sobs calmed down and so did her breathing. Seth slowly detached himself from the girl only to find her asleep.

Her breathing was steady and her complexion was a lot better than before.

Positioning her on the throne comfortably, Seth turned to look at the pale individual in the court before directing his query, "What is happening with her?"

It was too mind-wobbling for Seth to discern everything on his own. And thus, he could only rely on her.

[This child had a desire to retain her consciousness while her body was destined to be used as a vessel for the last Hero. That is why Nexus has decided to allow Laila to harbor a foreign soul while maintaining her own.]

The lady pressed her index finger against her chin, before finishing her response,

[In human terms it would be like, Split Personality Disorder.]
