Keira knew that Feng Xinying was a loner. She didn't have many friends, but was very professional. She was ruthless when it came to demarking a line between her private life and her profession. In her private life, she never entertained people howsoever demanding and lecherous they were. Because of that attitude, many even feared her.
Keira felt for her and said, "I will see if our agency is willing to give that long of a holiday…"
Feng Xinying sighed and said, "Thank you, Keira, for helping me at each and every step of my life… Right now, I want to stay at Beijing and concentrate on my company. There is a lot that needs my attention. I can't leave things the way they are. Plus, I have to take responsibility."
"Feng Xinying, don't be crazy. You helped me so much too. I can never forget the fact that you were the one that brought me in as your manager over here when I was in dire need of money," answered Keira. "I should be the one thanking you," she added.
"Okay, then let's not say thank you to each other. We are friends," laughed Feng Xinying. The conversation became lighter, and both friends talked about a lot of other things.
An hour later, Feng Xinying left for her home.
The butler greeted her. "Good afternoon, young miss. Should I lay down the table for your lunch?"
She smiled at him and said, "No, Lu Boyun, I have already eaten and will go take some rest. I feel that I am still jet lagged."
The butler bowed, and Feng Xinying slowly climbed the stairs. She remembered how her father used to catch her when she slid down the railing of the stairs. She loved to see his scared expression. She sighed and went to her bedroom. The house was very quiet, and she wondered where her stepmother was. It was so quiet that it seemed as if not a single soul inhabited the Feng Mansion.
Feng Xinying changed into her pajamas and crashed onto the bed. She was too tired. When she woke up, it was already 6pm so she began waiting for Xie Yuansheng to come home. He said that he would talk to her in the evening. She went downstairs and then took a stroll in the garden. To her surprise, she didn't see Xie Weihui. Not that she cared, but her curiosity rose because she hadn't seen her after the will was read.
She kept waiting for Xie Yuansheng until 9pm, but he still hadn't arrived. She had her dinner alone. When he didn't come even until 10pm, she became annoyed. She thought that he was trying to avoid her. "But I won't stop pestering you, Xie Yuansheng. I will visit your office tomorrow."
Since there was nothing to do alone, Feng Xinying went to her bedroom and started looking at fashion magazines. She thought that she would definitely open her own brand of fashion accessories and dresses. Thinking about this, she became excited and even started researching about it. She didn't realize when she fell asleep, but she woke up late at 10am in the morning over her papers and magazines. She leapt out of the bed to take a shower. After a quick bath, she went downstairs to have her breakfast. She enquired the butler, "When did Xie Yuansheng come home yesterday?"
"He came very late, young miss, and left very early today in the morning. He is really overworked," replied the butler.
Feng Xinying became incensed that Lu Boyun was taking that man's side instead of hers. "So what? Every CEO is overworked. Feng Conglomerate is so huge that one has to shoulder a lot of responsibility," she said.
Lu Boyun couldn't understand the reason for her outburst and quietly served her another dish.
Feng Xinying thought, "Don't worry, Xie Yuansheng, I am coming to the office now."
