"My car is there at the office. You can go directly to the office, and I can take my car from there," she reminded him.
He frowned and said, "You are my wife now. I have to take responsibility for you."
"We just have a contract marriage. You don't have to really get into the role of being my husband," she replied curtly.
Xie Yuansheng gave her a cold and sharp gaze. He said, "What do you mean? I am not role-playing. I am your husband."
Feng Xinying couldn't deny that, and she sat quietly in the car. As they cruised through the freeway, she said, "When will you give the news to your mother?"
"She already knows it."
This man really never stopped in giving surprises. She wondered if it would be awkward to go into her own house as a bride and meet the woman whom she hated to the core as her mother-in-law… and who was also responsible for her exit from her own house.
She was tied in a knot with people she hated. How did this happen? She looked at the sky above. Gods were not there… A person had to write his or her own destiny… "Well, it is just a matter of three months…" she thought, after which she would be free to rule her own world.
They approached home faster than she thought. The driver jumped out of the car and opened the door for her. Xie Yuansheng looked at her and said, "You eat dinner and go off to sleep."
Feng Xinying frowned and tilted her head and said, "Of course, I will." She shook her head and stepped out of the car. What did he think he was? She smirked as she walked inside the Feng manor.
Everything was just the same… Only the relationships changed… It was awkward.
Feng Xinying entered her home and saw Xie Weihui coming towards her. She had a huge smile on her face, which Feng Xinying wanted to wipe off. She tried to avoid her, but Xie Weihui approached her enthusiastically.
"Feng Xinying, I am very happy that you have accepted the proposition," said Xie Weihui. "Welcome to the Xie family."
Feng Xinying was peeved at her eagerness. She rolled her eyes and said, "Thank you."
Perhaps her contract mother-in-law didn't know that it was only for three months. She said, "Mrs. Xie, this is all only for three months, so everything will happen the way it happened in the past. Nothing has changed and don't expect me to change."
Xie Weihui's smile disappeared from her face, and instead, she now had a sad expression, which immensely satisfied Feng Xinying.
"Yes, I know that," said Xie Weihui. "But let's stay happy for the next three months. Your father really wanted you to be happy. He had told me multiple times how he wished you were there beside him…"
Feng Xinying thought that Xie Weihui was rubbing it in her face. Her mood became gloomy, and she said acerbically, "Mrs. Xir, you were the one who was responsible for all this. Don't think I have forgotten it. It is still fresh in my memories."
It was impossible for her to tolerate Xie Weihui. This was the first time she had talked to her after returning from Los Angeles. She ran upstairs to her room. When she arrived, she was surprised to see that all her belongings were not there.
She called the butler and said furiously, "Where are my things? Where have you shifted my bedroom stuff?"
The butler was shocked to hear her. "Young miss, the young master had instructed us yesterday to move all your stuff next to his bedroom. Your new bedroom is right next to his…" he said, pointing to the room opposite to the one they were standing in.
Feng Xinying crossed her arms. Her mind went in a tizzy. "He instructed you yesterday?" But the contract was signed today. Was he so sure that she would sign the contract? Xie Yuansheng was really a sly fox. Did this mean that he had put up an act to force her into signing the contract?!
She gritted her teeth and stomped her way to the new room. This was not acceptable. She ordered the butler to move back her things to her old room. The butler was perplexed. Just as she was about to shout at him, a text came in her phone from an unknown number. Feng Xinying opened the message to read its contents.
[Clause 68: The promisor will be shifting near the room of the promisee.]
Her mouth fell to the ground. It was Xie Yuansheng. Another message followed it.
[Save my number.]
