Xie Yuansheng decided to call Feng Xinying to his office. He went to his office desk and dialed her number but she didn't pick it up. Agitated, he called her office desk number but even that went unanswered. He slammed the phone down. He was very angry by now. All of a sudden there was a soft knock on his office. He looked at the door and shouted, "Come in!"
The person on the door perhaps got scared and didn't come in. the door didn't open. Xie Yuansheng stood up from his chair and charged at the door to shout at the person who knocked, disturbed him and hadn't even bothered to come inside. He thought that if that person had run away, he would ask the security to check the camera and know who that was and punish him or her. Thinking all that, he opened the door with a lot of force. The person who was holding the doorknob from the outside stumbled inside onto Xie Yuansheng.
A huge red roses bouquet fell on Xie Yuansheng along with the person who was holding it. Xie Yuansheng held her and the bouquet close in order to prevent them from falling. All his anger, anxieties and fears evaporated in a second. He looked at Feng Xinying who was looking confused, as she fluttered her eyelashes at him. Seeing the color of roses on her white skin, made him skip a heartbeat. It was a moment to behold, he wanted to capture the beauty in his eyes forever.
Feng Xinying's emotions were not easily hidden on her innocent face. Her confusion and fear was evident in the crease of her lovely brow and the lips that had curved downwards. But her eyes were so clear that Xie Yuansheng could see her soul in them. As he looked into her eyes, he knew that all the beauty in the universe couldn't compare or even hope to compete with the girl standing in front of him. There was so much passion. It was so simple yet so complicated.
Feng Xinying looked nervous as she clung on the flower bouquet and his hand curled over her hands. He balanced himself after a moment of observing her beauty.
"Feng Xinying…" he said.
"Are you angry?" she asked.
"No," he replied quickly.
She balanced and stood straight, holding the bouquet in front of her. She bit her lip and then she looked at him again. The confusion in her eyes turned to passion, which turned her eyes into orbs of bright fire. With the bouquet in her hand, she looked like a magazine cut-out dropped onto the uptown sidewalk. "Then why did you shout so loudly," she asked.
"I am sorry," he whispered.
Feng Xinying bit her lips again and a faint blush rose to her cheeks that complemented the red roses she held. Incidentally she was wearing a pink chiffon dress that accentuated her curves. Xie Yuansheng wanted to hold her all over again.
Feng Xinying extended the bouquet to him and said, "This is for you." She smiled as she gave it to him.
Xie Yuansheng melted. She was his medicine. He took the bouquet from her and smelled the roses. He looked at her with affection. "Thank you darling…" he said as he extended his hand for her to hold it. She held it and he curled his fingers around hers.
He walked with her to the sofa and asked softly, "And why am I being bestowed this honor?"
She had never given him a flower, let alone a bouquet and this was the first time she had given it to him in two lives. He wanted to cherish every moment, he just didn't know how.
"Did you forget so soon?" she asked.
Xie Yuansheng kept the bouquet in the flower vase on the table and sat on the sofa. He pulled her to make her sit in his lap. He tucked a strand that was on her cheek behind her ears and said, "Sorry baby… I forgot…"
She chuckled and said, "It's okay. You are so busy always. It is our two month wedding anniversary."
Xie Yuansheng gaped at her. "Really?"
Feng Xinying nodded heavily.
"Then tell me what you want today darling?" he asked.
She chuckled again and tousled his hair. "Nothing."
He laughed and looked at his lovely wife. What a fool he was to think that she would give that bouquet to anyone? He was elated and he cuddled her.
"Thank you…"
"You are welcome…"
There was a knock on the door breaking their moment of love. Xie Yuansheng looked at the door bitterly and ignored the knock.
Feng Xinying said, "Someone is there. You better leave me."
"No, you stay here," he didn't let her go.
She smiled as she removed his hands from her waist. "Call them in." She got up from there much to his disdain.
"Come in," he shouted.
The door opened and those three girls he had met in the elevator came in.
