Feng Xinying's skin was lined with goosebumps. She forgot to breathe. "What?" she whispered as she choked. She looked at Xie Yuansheng with a shocked expression. He looked at her face that became pale against the red dress that she was wearing. He went to her side and held her waist as she leaned against the car door.
"What happened Xinying?" he asked with a stern face.
"Why did she do that?" she asked Su Haobing.
"It seems she was under the effect of drugs that were seized from her. She never liked her biological mother. But Miss Xinying, now our lead is cold…" he replied, sadness apparent in his voice.
Feng Xinying clenched her jaws. "Okay… I will get back to you…" she replied and disconnected the call. She looked at Xie Yuansheng and brought her hand to his face. "Yuansheng, your aunt has been killed by Ru Shishi… I am so sorry…"
Xie Yuansheng took a deep breath. He remembered the scene from the afternoon and his face became pale. Sensing his pain, Feng Xinying, held his hand and said, "Let's forget it for now darling, please." She pulled him to the manor towards the garden where the wedding was being held.
He puffed and walked behind her as if he was in a daze. He looked in front, at her. She looked like an angel. Her red dress from Prada was made from tulle fabric that was lined with silk inside only on her bodice until the thighs. The tulle fabric was until her neck, which gathered as a red rose on the side. The material fell till the ground. Her white skin was visible beneath the red tulle. When she walked the fabric floated after her. Her hair was tied in a neat bun. Xie Yuansheng was hypnotized by her looks and he followed his angel.
Suddenly he stopped and pulled her towards him. There were guests around them, but irrespective of everyone's presence, he gathered her in his arms and kissed on her lips. He held her waist in arm and stroked her cheek. Then he dipped his head in her neck and smelled her familiar perfume. He just wanted to forget everything. "I want to spend some time alone with you," he said as he buried his head in her neck.
She patted his back knowing fully well that he was anxious inside and wanted to let his tension out. "Xie Yuansheng, you gotta be strong dear… I will see if I can sneak out soon…"
He released her and nodded. He held her hand and together they went inside the wedding party.
The party was in its full glory. They reached the stage where Keira and Xie Shengjun were standing. Keira looked beautiful in her wedding gown. Xie Shengjun was wearing a black suit. They were talking to the guests who were giving them red packets. When the couple saw them, Keira shrieked and hugged Feng Xinying. "I am getting married!" Then she whispered, "Sister-in-law!" and giggled.
Feng Xinying also giggled as the two brothers looked at their wives. Kiera's curly hair was pinned to the side and the rest of the locks was hanging on her forehead. She looked so cute that Xie Shengjun would often come and pull her strands out of the forehead behind her ears. People had started joking, "Keep your hands off till the wedding is over."
"Congratulations brother!" said Xie Yuansheng as he gave his brother a bear hug. He wondered when would his moment come. He wanted to have that kind of wedding with Feng Xinying.
Xie Shengjun received his congratulations but noticed that he was looking pale. He kept is hands on his shoulders and asked with narrowed eyes, "Tell me what is eating you inside." Xie Shengjun knew his brother very well. There were very few things in this world that shook him from inside.
"Xie Weihui is no more…" he replied after a pause. He didn't want to ruin his brother's wedding but he had to get it off his chest.
"You did the right thing, so cheer up!" scolded Xie Shengjun knowing fully well that he had killed her. "She was scum. I didn't know that we had that kind of people we had in our family. I would have gotten rid of her long back."
"But now I don't know who will tell us about the person who instigated all this chaos. The lead has gone cold…" replied Xie Yuansheng.
"I don't think that it has gone cold because now we already know that there was someone behind it. We are going to go across all our father's connections and dig it out. Don't worry, okay?" said Xie Shengjun as he lifted his brother's face who was looking down. "With that scum gone from our lives forever, we are now free from our past ghosts, Yuansheng. This is a time to celebrate!"
Xie Yuansheng smiled faintly and looked at his brother.
Xie Shengjun knew that his brother was always indebted to his aunt for bringing him up but it was so ironic that because of her, their mother had died.
Xie Yuansheng left his brother on the stage and went to stand near the bar. He was immediately surrounded by a group of girls who started flirting with him. He took a glass of wine and started talking to them. He wanted to forget what had happened. Feng Xinying noticed him and chuckled.
"He needs you today more than ever," said Xie Shengjun. "Go to him."
Feng Xinying nodded. She stayed with Keira until her parents had come to the stage and stood there to receive all the gifts she was getting. Then she went to Xie Yuansheng who was now laughing with the group. Two girls had stood very close to him, almost invading his personal space.
When Feng Xinying reached him, she moved those two girls aside roughly and curled her hands around his arms.
"Yini!" he shouted as he wrapped his hands around her. "Do you know I used to call you Yini?" he said as he brought his face close to her face. "Do you know that because of you, I am what I am?"
Feng Xinying looked at his face. What did he mean by that? Was he blaming her? She started looking down.
"You are my angel or you are my devil?" he asked her as he took her chin in his hands and forced her to look up at him.
She removed his hand with anger and said, "That's for you to decide!" She left the place and started walking back to Keira with a tear in her eyes.
The two girls chuckled at the scene. "Let her go Yuansheng, we are here," they said keeping their hands on his shoulders. Xie Yuansheng looked at them and growled. They cringed in fear. He removed their hands very rudely and went after Feng Xinying with his wine glass. He caught her midway to the stage and instead started pulling her out.
"Leave me," she struggled to remove her hand from his grip but Xie Yuansheng threw the wine glass on the side and picked her up in his arms.
The guests started chuckling, "The brothers are mad about their girls."
He stopped only when they reached the guestroom she had slept in last time she was there. He made her stand on the bed and said, "You were the girl that I was always in love with. I waited like a madman all those years for you."
She started walking backwards. She started crying hysterically.
He didn't listen to her cries. "And you say decide for yourself?" He pulled her back to him. "Don't go anywhere Yini. Kill me please," he said. "I am unable to take this pain anymore."
He took her hands on his neck and pressed them as he closed his eyes. Suddenly he felt warm lips on his.
