Chapter 378 - What Did You Remember?

The warmth with which Feng Xinying extended her help to him was simply overwhelming. He so wished that the woman who was sitting in front of her became interested in him. He so wished that she left her husband and become his forever. He didn't want to leave her to leave his hand, and if she left it, he would hold it. He wondered if his feelings were mixed up because she was the only one who helped him when he was shot. Was it because he thought that she was his savior and because there was no one else who he knew in this world? Was he that clingy? What would she think about him? His opinion about himself suddenly went very low. He had to test it out and see if he could trust and like people outside of the Feng Mansion.

So it was a good thing that he saw the psychiatrist. He would help him with his self-esteem and trust issues. Currently he was like a puppy to his master. "Yes, Miss Xinying I would like to go to the psychiatrist. Just let me know when."

Feng Xinying smiled and left his hands. His face that was beaming with affection and joy a moment ago lost all its glow and charm and drooped. It missed those warm hands around his.

"Okay, let me talk to the doctor and I will let you know when he is free," she replied and got up to leave.

Xie Yuansheng felt all the more sad when he saw that she was leaving. "Do you want to eat anything else?" he asked buying time to be with her.

She shook her head and said, "No, thanks Shengu. I have a pile of documents that need to be sorted."

"Oh!" his lips curved down. It meant that he won't be seeing her until evening. But that is what he wanted – avoid her. So why was he feeling sad? 'God, help me out of this please,' he thought, as he saw her turn to leave.

He watched her going to the stairs that led to her room. Suddenly a memory flashed – that of a man carrying a woman in his arms and right on the top of this very staircase. Both of them were drunk and were heading towards the bedroom upstairs. Shocked, he stared at her back, as the memory flicked for a second only. Who was the man? Who was he carrying? The momentary memory was so small yet it caused so much pain in his head that he held it between his hands and hung it low with eyes closed.

While Feng Xinying was going to her room, she stopped at the first step. She wanted to ask him if he could help her sort documents, so she turned around. However, as soon as she turned, she found him sitting holding his head in obvious pain. She ran back to him, "Shengu, what happened?" she became scared.

Slowly, he looked up at her. She could see the pain in his eyes. She held his shoulders and held his face in her hands. "What is it Shengu, tell me?"

"I remembered something but it was momentary."

"Oh!" Feng Xinying became excited. "What did you remember?" she asked goading him.

"A man and a woman up these stairs near your bedroom… he was carrying her in his arms…" as soon as he said that, his head again ached and he hung it low.

Feng Xinying stroked his hair. This was the first memory he remembered and she was so happy but she didn't coax him further. "Don't think about it anymore Shengu. Come, let us go to your room," she said and offered her hand for him to take it.

He held it and immediately felt safe and secure. He got up and together they went to his room where he lied on bed. As she covered him with a blanket, he said, "Miss Xinying, thank you so much for taking care of me. What would I do without you?"

She smiled and replied, "I have to take care of you compulsorily otherwise I am scared that the police would come after me."

Xie Yuansheng let out a little laughter.

She started to leave and once again his mood plunged. When she left, he felt lonely and covered his face with the blanket to sleep, but the sleep was far away from him, only the headache remained. It must have been ten minutes when the door opened again and he saw her entering the room with a pile of documents in her hands. His face brightened up. "Miss Xinying how come you have come back?" he asked.

"Well, you see I have to take care of you and be responsible for you. So when I saw that you were having a headache, I came downstairs with my documents. I will sit here and take a look at them while you are sleeping," she replied as she kept all the documents on the table over there and sat on the chair.

Even though he would have loved if she had sat right next to him, but seeing her in front of him was relaxing enough. He said, "That is nice Miss Xinying."

She nodded and opened the documents while he kept looking at her from his place. She looked so beautiful when she focussed on her work. They say that men look handsome when they concentrated on their work, but in this case she was looking extremely attractive as she submerged herself in her work. He stared at her facial features for a long time and as if that was a therapy in itself, his headache was soon gone. He didn't know when the sleep came over and he dozed off.

It was his soft snores that divided Feng Xinying's attention. She looked at him and thought with a smile how silly her husband was to even think that she would leave him in this state all alone. He needed constant care. She sighed and started reading the documents again.

Suddenly her phone pinged. It was a text from Cai Xin.
