Chapter 385 - Obligation?

Feng Xinying had gone to the office as she had a lot of meetings that were pending. Apart from that she also had to go for her doctor's appointment. In the office she had called Xie Shengjun as she wanted to discuss about Shu Jing Min's fiasco that he had created two days back. In the meeting Feng Xinying had called all those who were looking after the shipping business. In the meeting, she asked for the details about it.

The first person to give the detailed report was a manager who was directly looking into the business, Manager Hun. He said with a lot of concern, "The business is making lots of losses. We are unable to cover those losses because most of the investors are backing out and there are no new orders. The port officials are giving us a hard time by checking each and every container and they have doubled the number of security checks for each ship. Just because they have doubled the security checks, our ships are going late from the harbors and this is directly affecting our delivery process."

Feng Xinying said, "Give me the numbers – the delays in deliveries and the delays in checking time. Also let me know how much loos have we suffered."

The manager passed her the report. He looked extremely upset.

Feng Xinying looked at the numbers and didn't comment. She kept the file on the side. Then she looked at Xie Shengjun and said, "What do you think would be the best way to cover these losses?"

"Well, I have already seen the report Feng Xinying. With the current scenario, the losses are only going to increase and I don't see any respite unless we pump in more money into this business," he replied. "I talked to some of our board members and none of them were interested in investing into it. I would strictly advise the Feng Conglomerate to not invest into this drowning business for now."

The manager looked baffled, "But Sir, this company now belongs to Feng Conglomerate. We have to save it."

Xie Shengjun looked at him and said, "Getting emotionally involved in a company that is not doing well is a bad business decision."

"But Sir-" Manager Hun was about to say something when Feng Xinying cut him sharply, "Xie Shengjun is right. Emotionally attaching to a business would only ruin it further and also ruin our image as business conglomerate." Then she looked at Xie Shengjun and said, "What do you propose in this case?"

Xie Shengjun lifted a pen in front of him and said with a lop-sided smile, "We should sell one of the ships. Selling one ship will help us in a long way. We will be able to sustain this business for the time being."

Before the manager could say anything, Feng Xinying immediately said, "Okay, then let us go with this decision. Put up a ship for sale."

The manager looked as if he had eaten a bitter pill. "Miss Xinying, your uncle Shu Jing Min will not take this nicely. He might create another fiasco," he warned.

Feng Xinying glared at him and replied, "Do you think I am bothered about that? And if he is going to create another fiasco, it only means that you have failed in your job. How can an outsider come so easily and create all the noise? Also who would go and tell him what we are doing?"

"But Miss Xinying, this is his company that we are taking care of. It is our obligation to let him know," argued the manager.

"What do mean it is our obligation?" asked Feng Xinying, a little loudly. "Who are you employed with Manager Hun?" she asked angered at his statement. "It seems that although you are employed with us, you speak more in favor of Shu Jing Min!"

Manager Hun cringed. He said in a low voice, "I am only trying to be unbiased…"

Everyone else in the meeting agreed to Feng Xinying's decision and the meeting was adjourned.

The fact was that ever since Feng Xinying had acquired the company, she had appointed Manager Hun to see the case. When Shu Jing Min came to know who was looking after the business, he had bribed him to give all the inside details and hence Manager Hun was keeping him updated. What they didn't know was that Feng Xinying and Xie Shengjun were keeping a close watch on his movements. She also knew that Manager Hun would go and report this meeting's minutes to Shu Jing Min and this is what she wanted.

She wanted Shu Jing Min to know and see that he was suffering and at the same time be completely helpless about it.

Both Xie Shengjun and Feng Xinying had already formulated this plan of selling a ship long back when they had acquired the company. Keeping a manager to look after the business was just a façade she had created. So when the manager provided the numbers with all seriousness, she also appeared serious and in order to make it look legit, the idea of selling one ship was introduced in the meeting by Xie Shengjun. It was such a genuine idea and all others in the meeting could only agree fully.

That day itself one of the best ships of the fleet were out for sale in the market.

With her job done, Feng Xinyin headed for home. Xie Yuansheng must have already come, she thought and wondered if he would go with her to the doctor's place.

"Brother Xie Yuansheng, does Sister Feng Xinying also have this kind of fun with you?" asked Kate as she looked at him.

Xie Yuansheng stared at her and felt as though she had touched his nerve. The girl in front of him looked pretty and cute. She was sort of gamine and chirpy, which was extremely different from Feng Xinying who was so suave, sincere, elegant and refined. Every part of her body exuded class. She was such a contrast to Kate. With Kate he had fun, but with Feng Xinying, his feelings were stirred.

He had to play his part well and so he replied, "She is my wife and we have our moments."
