CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (VX)
Part 049
Adrian looked at her with a broken face as she cracked and ate the cookies. When they were working together in the military in the summer, she didn’t think much of it as she looked at the commander who was still working and Damian, who was fluttering. But these days, since they’re dating just the two of them outside, he was so smiley that she was worried. It’s nice to look at, but she was going to get wrinkles around her eyes.
They met after four long days and were on their way out in a carriage to go on a date. Adrian also had a lot of work, and she had to go home as soon as she got off work to expand after she started studying at the Ministry of Finance all day, so they couldn’t communicate properly, let alone meet. Now that she has gotten used to her work, she sent a letter to Franz saying that she wanted to meet him today. As soon as she came out to meet Adrian, who was waiting in front of the carriage after work, he rushed so much that she thought she was being hugged from the treasury coach station. Fortunately, he stopped just one step ahead, but my heart was pounding in many ways.
As they climbed into the carriage, Adrian held out a small box of cookies.
‘Did you know that you are crazy, my sweetheart with perfect sense?’
As soon as she finished the two cookies and put the box away, he grabbed her hand and started squatting as if he had waited. His large right hand wrapped around her left, and he squatted her thumb, stroked her fingernails, and pressed her fingertips with his own blunt thumbnails without pain.
“It’s tickling. Adrian, do you like my hands?”
“It’s amazing.”
“Amazing?”
It was an unexpected answer, so he widened his eyes and smiled while looking down at her hand. When she looked down at the hand on his large hand, it looked like a miniature.
“You can hold a pen and a fork with these little hands.
No, there he was. His fingers should be bent then. Was he ignoring her for being small? She sewed, buttoned, and scratched her back with her own hands. She was good at pinching, but could he show her? After glancing at Adrian, she looked down at her hand again, and it was small. Her ring finger was the same length as Adrian’s thumb. No. It’s not that her hands were small, Adrian’s were big. The size was very large, but the fingers were not thick, so it was a well-shaped hand overall. His thumb, index finger, and most of his palms were covered with calluses. If you looked closely, you could see healed scars everywhere. When she pressed her finger on the callus, it was hard. How many years took his hands to become like this for wielding a sword? He said he had been a soldier since he was eighteen. He must have been training since he was younger.
She thought that her white and soft hands would be amazing because they were with Adrian’s hands. Adrian’s hands were amazing too. If you look closely, his feet were really big. Hers looked like a baby horse when she put her shoes on next to the big boots. She didn’t know because it’s covered by clothes, but her shoulders were so wide that she wondered if it’s something like that. It was said that the arrow had grazed it.
The color of his hair was also very rare, but it felt good when she stroked it because it was straight. She had never thought about her hair because it was Jenny’s who touched it daily, not her, but touching someone’s hair was also great, and it was only after stroking Adrian’s hair that she realized why Jenny put so much effort into her hair. The eyes were amazing too. Normally, the golden color was reflected near the lens, and the overall color was crimson, but when angry, it seemed to change to bright red. She hadn’t seen it directly because he had never been angry in front of her, but Adrian’s eyes she had seen before at Milton Upper House were red. But wasn’t it still pretty red?
She didn’t know because she was looking at him again, but when she came to her senses, his face was too close. As soon as she thought his eyes were getting a little redder, his face came closer?
‘Uh, what?’
The tip of her nose touched. Adrian’s head tilted slightly. He looked at her eyes with lowered eyes, but they were definitely red. No, wait. She was so startled that she stopped breathing and stood still, then stopped very, very close. He paused for a moment, then walked away and spoke in a whisper.
“Excuse me.”
She could feel his breath touching her lips so vividly. Only then did he pull his body back. What now? What was he trying to do? Could it be that he almost kissed her? No, this brawl was all a surprise attack. Embarrassed belatedly, she covered his feverish face with her palms.
Glancing at him, Adrian was smiling prettily with a nonchalant face. Why was she ashamed of herself! Adrian was so natural as if he didn’t care, so it was a shame to be embarrassed alone. She gazed at the window to cool her flushed face, and she didn’t mind. She was going to say she was fine for a long time when Adrian quietly spoke to her.
“Have you ever been offended?”
It was a serious face without a smile.
“If I answer that you’re not happy, will you stop doing this in the future?”
“Yes.”
It was unfair that she was surprised by herself, so she was thinking of teasing him a little, but since he answered so seriously right away, she ran out of things to say. It’s okay, so she couldn’t ask him to do his best in the future, and she couldn’t live without ever having their first kiss!
“I was surprised, but not offended.”
She answered, emphasizing the word ‘surprised’ as much as possible. Adrian, who was looking at her seriously, laughed softly after hearing her answer.
“I was nervous because I was afraid you would say it was unpleasant.”
She laughed when Adrian used the word ‘afraid’. It’s a really odd combination. Prince Bigor was joking.
“I’ll try to think of a way not to surprise Damian.”
‘Don’t worry like that with a serious face.’
Adrian smiled even wider as she looked at him with a puzzled face. It seemed that the face was full of something, but it must be her mistake?
* * *
With Adrian’s guidance, they went to a restaurant they had never been to before. Actually, she had a bit of a child’s taste, she didn’t cover salty and sweet things and eat well, but spicy or a little adult taste? She was not good at eating the same thing, so she had been reluctant to go to a new restaurant or choose a menu she hadn’t tried before. But how could the restaurants and menus that Adrian had chosen fit her taste so well? Now, even if there were only unfamiliar dishes at a new restaurant, she was excited and tried this and that.
She was taken aback by the strangely yellow fried fish dish that came out today, but she carefully took a piece and ate it, and it was amazingly delicious. Since she ate well, Adrian laughed with a honey dripping face the whole time. It is because of this person that the fish was sweet. After a great dinner today, they sat face to face on the second floor of a cafe with a nice terrace.
Delicious food, a beautiful lover, and a soft sofa. Besides, the chocolate eclair tasted crazy. She had it all to live her life forever.
Adrian laughed out loud as she roamed around on the soft sofa.
“Isn’t the work difficult?”
“It’s hard, but it’s fun.”
“Are you having fun?”
“Yes, I guess I like to look into the ledger. It’s more fun than worrying. It’s thrilling when you find an error.”
When she answered with a smile, Adrian laughed along. By the time they got home from work, one of them had their eyes wide open and their stomachs aching, but they got used to it.
Senior Tina was a person with reasonable rewards and punishment, so she seemed to be dissatisfied with wasting money on education for the young lady of the count, who didn’t know when to quit, but when she picked out an error, she complimented her fairly generously. She also pointed out errors that she could not find and gave detailed instructions on how to read the documents. Her attitude was businesslike, her work was meticulous and she was persistent, and her tone was a bit aggressive or quarrelsome, but he wasn’t a bad person to work with.
The first meeting gave a very bad impression, so she thought about changing the support department, but now that she was used to the way she spoke, she had a lot to learn. Were the first impressions so bad that the small advantages she discovered later seem bigger? She couldn’t figure out what Tina senior thought of her, but she was having fun and working hard. She put aside her worries and decided to believe that the Treasury was her way too.
While talking excitedly about what happened during the time they hadn’t met, Adrian’s forehead suddenly cracked. Following the line of Adrian’s frown as he looked behind her, she turned her head and saw a familiar face.
Homer approached with a bright smile on his characteristic friendly face.
“Lady Damian.”
“Oh, what are you doing here, Homer?”
“Since you are here, I couldn’t tell you before I visited you. I was passing by. I’m sorry if I disturbed you.”
“You’re in the way. Go.”
Before she could answer anything, Adrian cut in. But Homer didn’t even look at Adrian, he just smiled kindly at her.
“Nothing to disturb, but what are you doing?”
“Hmm. An additional report on the last case, or an additional suggestion. Oh, Your Excellency. You’re here right now. I think you can listen to it together.”
Adrian’s eyebrows wrinkled even more when Homer made a joke as if he had just discovered him. She laughed inwardly and offered Homer a seat.
“Sit down. I think you can talk comfortably.”
“Shall we?”
Homer stood still for a moment, looking alternately at the seat next to her and the seat next to Adrian. Well, even if he sat next to her, the shape was weird, and she thought they both hated sitting next to each other. Then, Adrian jumped up and came to the seat next to her. Homer smiled and went to the seat where Adrian was sitting and sat down. Adrian, who was looking at Homer with a very disliked look, when she held his hand next to him, his face melted as if it had never happened. Then, when he looked at Homer again, it was an ice pick.
Now she wanted to be able to adapt to this temperature change.
“If it’s useless, I’ll throw the chair away.”
This was the second floor. Adrian. Adrian threatened in a low voice, but Homer ignored him with a friendly smile. If it was an additional report, Adrian would have to hear it rather than her, but Homer approached her, fixed his gaze, and opened his mouth. She could feel that Adrian was uncomfortable around her, but she thought his smile was on purpose? She thought it was something serious to bring out the words in a light manner, but from the first word, there was no up or down, just fall off a cliff.
Her Highness the Queen knew about the subsequent assassination attempt on His Highness the Crown Prince.
“Captain, it seems that the clean-up was not tidy?”
She was shocked, but Adrian responded casually.
“Isn’t it impossible to cover your eyes when they attack even inside the palace?”
Homer also grumbled.
‘Father, these people are strange.’
