Chapter 207

207 Don’t date the crazy one, please! part It was finally Sera’s turn and she didn’t need make up or nice clothes to be the most outstandingly beautiful girl Ryu had ever seen. Yet, she did her best to be even more if that was even possible.

Her long blond hair fell on her back like a golden cape that separated her and the rest of the mortals, her deep blue eyes with a sharp gaze and a coquettish look in them could melt a man’s heart and her full lips were so perfect bards would get in line just to glance at them in hopes of getting some inspiration for songs.

Ryu tried to compliment her beauty, but was suddenly unavailable to do so, although no one would have blamed him for being speechless. Sera was accustomed to such reactions from strangers, but experiencing it from mister Ryu was the biggest compliment she could ever dream of.

“Let’s go mister Ryu!”

She said with a smile as she grabbed on to Ryu’s arm, pressing her breasts against it and leaning close to him. Walking like that was difficult and they stiffly made his way towards the elevator. Sera didn’t mind where they were going, as long as it was with Ryu she would have followed him anywhere in the world.

The only thoughts that crossed her mind were related to him, she didn’t mind the landscape, the goblins, nothing, her full attention was focused directly on him.

“Are you ok Sera?”

“Of course I am, mister Ryu!”

“Listen, I’ve been meaning to tell you this, you can call me just by my name, there’s not need to add ‘mister’ when you refer to me”

“It’s the force of habit, I’ve been addressing to you in such manner for so long it would be hard for me to stop now”

Sera felt a bit ashamed, but even in her head she always thought of him as mister Ryu.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable, I just, nevermind”

Ryu sighed, it didn’t matter how many times he told the stubborn Sera to just relax around him, she would never do it.

“Don’t worry mister Ryu, where are we going by the way?”

“Oh, I’m taking you to a place I’ve only been with Bardun, I need to do something and I would appreciate it if you were to accompany me”

Sera was mortified by his words, of course she didn’t mind running errands with mister Ryu, or even doing them for him, but she was expecting an intimate date. She thought there might be a chance to talk things over and, on her mind, her chances of bedding him were pretty high since she heard from Mia that Ryu didn’t spend the night with Anne or Athela.

It didn’t take long to arrive at their destination, it was the shrine located on top of the tallest tree, even though Ryu asked the goblins to build platforms on the tree tops, this place wasn’t connected to them. This was because the shrine was treated the same as a biological waste disposal.

Sera glanced briefly at all the swords, spears, shields, lances, pieces of armor and equipment but quickly lost interest.

“Do you know why did I bring you here?”

Ryu asked and Sera replied by shaking her head.

“This is the place where goblins deposit all the cursed weapons, they consider this to be a dangerous place and only the leader and a few others are allowed in”

“I don’t see the appeal in a place like this, not for a date at least”

She whispered the last part.

“There’s something I haven’t told anyone. Ever since I became stronger I was able to feel a connection with my sword. It was almost like what I feel with my pets, but now...”

He unsheathed his sword and placed it on the place that held it for a short period, while Ryu was still recovering after his fight against the outlaws who tried to enslave them.

“I don’t feel anything coming from it, it’s almost as if it was killed”

“Why did you bring it here then?”

“I don’t know, it feels like a proper burial and I didn’t want to be alone at a time like this”

Ryu held Sera’s hand trying to find some comfort in Sera.

“Thank you mister Ryu, I’m deeply moved by your trust in me”

“It’s true this sword was important to me, I experienced many setbacks because of it but eventually it became my strength. Despite all the bad luck and the horrible fate I was supposed to meet because of it, I ended up getting attached to it and now it’s dead. To me it’s almost the same as losing a companion and having you here with me brings me comfort, but that’s not the reason why I wanted to come here with you”

Sera gazed at Ryu’s eyes expecting to find sadness in his eyes, but he had a resolved look that looked quite masculine. She was starting to regret being disappointed after coming in here with him, after all, this wasn’t a simple errand but an important moment for her beloved mister Ryu.

“This sword accompanied me for so long, it reminds me of my time in Ironwoods and all the sweet and sad memories I have from that place. Today marks the beginning of a new part of my life and I called you in here because I want you to be a part of it”

Sera couldn’t believe her ears, she was so shocked she couldn’t even get excited.

“Am I understanding this correctly?”

“I don’t think so. Sera, I really enjoy your company, but I can’t do this. If you want to join me on my journey, we need to get things clear. I don’t want to be in a relationship”

Ryu remained silent after that, it took Sera no effort to know what he meant by that, of course he needed to turn the page on Rina before starting something new. It didn’t matter how hard Ryu tried to hide it, it was evident for her that the only reason why he’s been keeping his distance from women was only because of his past breakup with Rina.

“Mister Ryu, I would like to join you on your journey. I don’t care if you can’t be in a relationship with me, all I want is for you to be happy and... to get some relief. If you can promise me that you’ll never abandon me, I’ll follow you anywhere, all I ask is you show me some affection”

“Listen Sera, I really want you to come, but I think it would be better to remain friends”

“But why!? It shouldn’t be too hard for you, you already told me that you love me and you do these things with Mia. Why can’t I be treated the same? If you want I can be your pet too! your slave, I don’t care, please, just...”

Ryu let out a sigh.

“Calm down please, there’s no need for that. I guess it’s not impossible as long as I’m single and no one gets hurt. Let’s have fun today and see how it goes, maybe we can have dates from time to time”

Ryu, who brought Sera only to draw some boundaries in hopes of remaining friends with her, couldn’t find it in his heart to turn her down once again.

Sera was always respectful towards him, sometimes maybe too much. While respect is something nice, being extremely polite towards someone makes it feel like they’re distant. Ryu knew that, as long as Sera kept addressing to him as ‘mister Ryu’ there would be no hope for them as a couple, but also, he didn’t see the harm in dating her.
