Chapter 168 - What's Going On!?

The next day.

The couple woke up to a beautiful morning. The sun was already shining brightly outside the villa and the chirping of the birds from the trees nearby created a melodious piece of music serenading the couple.

They didn't rush out of the bed.

They just stared at each other's eyes lovingly.

Mike kissed his wife's forehead.

"I love you so much, wifey..." he whispered.

Caroline smiled. "I love you too..." she answered happily, her eyes brimming with love for her husband.

"It's our first day here. Let's get up and enjoy the resort!" Mike said energetically.

"Alright, let's do it after breakfast!" she replied excitedly.

Mike dialed the phone and ordered a meal for their breakfast.

They went to the bathroom separately and do their morning routine.

Fifteen minutes later.

The breakfast was delivered by the same smiling polite butler. He left quietly after delivering the food for the couple.

The couple eats on the dining table and plans their day.

"Let's go to the marine sanctuary... then let's do jet skiing after lunch," Mike suggested.

"Sure, you're the boss, hubby," Caroline smiled sweetly.

They finished eating breakfast which consists of rice, bread, and three variants of delicious dishes.

After finishing eating... they went to the pool area and continue sipping their hot coffee there while admiring the sun and the panoramic view of the ocean.

Caroline saw five jet ski crisscrossing the ocean. "Wow! That looks super fun!" she blurted out.

"Fun indeed! You haven't tried it?" Mike asked her.

She shook her head. "Not yet. It looks scary yet super exciting and fun! I can't wait to try that water sport with you hubby!" she enthused.

"Alright, let's do it first this morning...then go to the marine sanctuary later in the afternoon," he suggested.

"Okay!" Caroline responded with a grin.

Mike leaned towards his wife and planted a kiss on her lips. "I love you!"

She looked into his eyes and replied..."I love you more!"

A few minutes later. They put their mugs in the kitchen sink and changed into their swimwear.

Caroline chose a conservative one-piece swimsuit and wore a black short over it to avoid being stared at. But when she and her husband are all alone in the bedroom she will go shameless all the way.

Mike wore a blue color swimming trunks short showing his chiseled chest.

"Let's go, sweetie!" Mike said and wrapped his arms around his wife's waist and kissed her forehead.

They exited the villa and locked the door with the key provided by the resort.

They strolled on the grassy path leading to the beach. The greenery which was dotted by the trees and plants gave them a refreshing and invigorating feeling.

The gentle breeze of the wind caresses their skin while walking lazily on the path towards the beach.

They finally reached the ocean shore.

The couple sat down on the comfortable loungers shielded by a big umbrella to protect them from the harmful rays of the sun.

They sat there for a while enjoying the fantastic ocean view.

"Sweetie, just stay here. I will get a jet ski for us," he said.

"Okay," replied Caroline.

Mike stood up and went to the main hall of the resort to book a jest ski.

A few minutes later.

A resort attendant comes to the loungers and offered Caroline two glasses of Mango Smoothie.

"Your husband sends this for you, Ma'am," he said and place the glasses on the wooden table.

"Thank you," Caroline said.

"You're welcome, Ma'am. If you need anything, you can call me anytime," the resort attendant said.

"Okay, I will," Caroline responded with a smile.

The resort attendant walked away to deliver another drink to other guests nearby.

Caroline sipped the glass filled with the refreshing goodness of the Mango Smoothie. She looks at the bluish ocean, far away from the five jest skis that were currently crisscrossing the water. There's a calm area of the water on the left and right side where the jet ski lovers didn't venture. She focused her attention on that area, wanting to watch the calm blue ocean without much interference from humans.

She just wants to enjoy the calmness and peace for a few minutes.

She was in that state of mind when all of a sudden... she heard a loud sounds of a collision between hard objects...and then followed by loud screaming of help.

She looked at the area where the sound originated.

She saw two jet ski clashing on each other and the four people were already submerged on the water. There are two men and two women on the water.

The other three jet skis already stopped and jumping into the water to help the fallen people floating in there.

All of them were wearing life jackets so no worries of drowning.

However, based on their painful screams they were badly hurt.

All the people on the beach rushed to the shore to find out what happened including her husband. The lifeguard of the beach resort was already rescuing the people who had fallen from the jet ski.

Caroline saw her husband busy conversing with other people while she remained seated on the lounge chair, sporting a calm posture, not even slightly bothered by the accident.

She saw the staff of the resort put the two people on the stretcher...then she saw two people injured... both their faces were covered with blood. They might have been hit by a hard object.

After the injured victims were taken away to the hospital...

The guest returned to their lounger...but the majority already left the beach. No one would still want to swim in blood-stained water.

Caroline saw her husband coming towards her.

Mike lowered himself into the chair and looked at her wife. "Did you see the accident happening, sweetie?"

Caroline nodded her head. "I didn't see the accident when it happened. I only saw people in the water and heard them screaming for help," she answered.

"Are the injured... alright?" she inquired.

"Maybe, hopefully so. Their heads were smashed by the hard body of the jet ski. I can assure you that was painful and awful. I have seen with my own two eyes when the two jest ski collides and I was speechless... I was horrified and shocked!" Mike narrated.

Caroline breathed deeply. "That was nothing..." she murmured.

"W-what did you say, sweetie?" he asked not hearing her voice clearly.

"Nothing..." she shook her head.

Mike looked at her with a questioning glance.

"I said... I have seen much worst...what you see earlier is nothing," she said with a small smile.

"You mean... you have seen an accident much worse with the one that occurred earlier?" he asked.

She nodded her head. If she will tell her husband that she had killed someone out of self-defense, what would he think? She thought that what happened to those people riding the jet ski can not match what she experiences in her life lately, especially the murder.

"Hubby, I've seen much worse on film. An accident like those are nothing compared to what I have seen in all the movies that I have watched in the past," she explained.

Mike grinned. "Are you kidding me...?"

Caroline laughed a little. "You're too serious," she said and pinched his side.

Mike catches her hands and placed them on his lap.

"Do you still want to do jet ski?" she asked him. She doesn't mind going into the ocean and ride those jet skis. She's not afraid that she and her husband will encounter the same disaster just like what happened to those couples earlier.

Mike shook his head. "No, after what happened earlier, the water is no longer clean to swim with and the resort prohibited using jet ski for today due to the mishap, this is out of respect for the injured people and to prevent any further accident," he explained.

"Ah, okay. So what we will do now?" she asked him.

"We will just go swimming in our infinity pool in the villa or go strolling on the beach. We can also hire a private boat and go sailing in the ocean," he suggested.

"That sounds good. Let's do that tomorrow. Let's go sailing!" she raves.

"Alright, tomorrow then. For now, let's just stay here and admire the fantastic ocean view," he said with a smile.

Mike reached for the glass of Mango Smoothie and sipped from the straw.

"What do you think of those drivers who smashed the jet ski?" she asked wanting to start a conversation with her husband.

Mike shrugged his shoulder. "I think those are inexperienced kids when it comes to driving a jet ski. I heard from one of the couples that they were drinking liquor on their villa before they boarded the jet ski. They were liquor high or intoxicated with alcohol and the adrenaline rush is very high when you are boarding a jet ski... sometimes you'll get out of touch with reality."

Caroline brows furrowed. "Kind of weird, because the ocean is not crowded and it would be impossible for two jet ski to collide onto each other when the ocean was wide enough for them to move around and accommodate them all..."

Mike looked at his wife's keenly. "So, what are you suggesting...?"

A dark gleam passed on Caroline's eyes. "Maybe...one of those people did it intentionally to hurt the other couple..." she said casually.

Mike snorted in laughter. "They are friends...friends don't hurt each other," he objected.

A burst of dry laughter erupted from Caroline's lips. "You're funny, hubby. And how about those several murder cases I heard on television news about husband killing their wife, a wife killing their husband, boyfriend killing their girlfriend and vice versa, and parents killing their daughter for honor killing? What can you say about those cases?"

"Sweetie... those are rare happenings in our society. It does not happen every day and does not happen to all of us," he reasoned out calmly.

"Okay, as you say so," Caroline responded.

After Mike finished consuming his Mango Smoothie, he placed the empty glass on the table and reached for his wife's hand.

"Come on, let's stroll the seashore and enjoy this beautiful island," he said.

"Alright," replied Caroline with a smile.

The couple stood up and began strolling the seashore, thankfully the sea breeze was gentle to the skin.

Their strolling lasted only for thirty minutes and they retired to their villa for lunch.
