Chapter 252 - Cloud 9

Three weeks later.

It was a beautiful Monday afternoon. The sun was shining brightly up in the sky above.

The couple was feeling excited for a good reason.

Because this day is special!

Caroline was putting stuff into her shoulder bag. Today is the day they will go back to the clinic of her OB for an ultrasound. She's very excited to know the gender of the baby she was carrying in her w.o.m.b.

They also plan to proceed to the mall to buy baby clothes after knowing the gender of the baby.

Mike came out from the bathroom sporting a wide grin on his face. He was excited to go to the doctor's clinic with his wife. He can't wait to know the gender of their baby!

Today is a wonderful day indeed! He can feel every fiber of his being pulsating with excitement.

He walked to the closets and quickly pull some dry casual clothes, he donned them on his body quickly.

He was done dressing and put his phone and wallet in the pocket of his trouser. He looked at his wife sitting on the bed wearing a stunning floral lace detailing maternity dress.

"Wifey, shall we go now?" he asked.

Caroline looked at him and smiled. "Yes, of course. I've been waiting for you to finish dressing. Let's go!" she said and rose to her feet going to the door.

Mike followed his wife outside.

The couple exited their abode, went to the elevator, holding each other's hands. They exited the elevator, their eyes shining with love and adoration for each other.

"Wife, just wait in the lobby. I'll get the car and parked it in front of the building," he said.

"Okay, I'll wait there," Caroline replied to her husband with a sweet smile on her face.

Mike exited the building and went to the parking lot, entered his car, and started the engine. He navigated the car out of the parking lot and drives it towards the entrance of the building. He parked the car and saw his wife standing in the entrance waiting for him.

Caroline walked towards the car and went inside.

Mike drove the car out of the building's premises going to the OB's clinic.

During the travel, the couple was contented listening to the romantic music playing on the car stereo. No words needed to say anything to each other, they both know they were excited especially on this special day. They will soon know the gender of their first offspring, the fruit of their love and union.

Caroline was sporting a radiant look on her face. Her face is the epitome of beauty and happiness.

After the initial scare of those gadgets, she soon found out that her husband has no plans to pursue the matter. He never asks her again about those gadgets.

Their married life returns to normal, blessed with love and harmony.

The shadow of her dark past no longer hunts her. Her daily life falls into a repetitive routine, engaging in daily gentle exercise fit for pregnant women, listening to nursery rhymes, and making beautiful embroidery such as a handkerchief as gifts to her mother, siblings, mother-in-law, to the housemaids, and her husband.

She was also planning to start embroidering a table cloth soon.

So far so good! She finally found peace, contentment, and stability besides her husband.

Looking back while she was still under Allison's control, she never expected that she would be able to enjoy this wonderful life that she was experiencing right now. She already loses hope that she will regain control of her life once again.

She was thankful to God for answering her prayers even if she was also a big sinner.

God did listen to her prayers but he didn't grant his prayers right away, instead, he let her suffer first before rescuing her from Allison's grasp.

As for her sins of accidentally killing Brenda, she is willing to pay it in her next life. In this current lifetime, she just wanted to stay happy and married to her husband Mike.

Mike glanced at his wife's silent face. "Wife, what are you thinking?" he suddenly asked.

Caroline looked at his husband and smiled. "I'm thinking about the gender of our baby, I'm so excited!" she raved.

"Me too!" Mike responded cheerfully. Up ahead, he can already see the doctor's clinic.

A few minutes later.

Mike parked the car in the parking lot of the clinic. They entered the building and were being ushered by the staff to the private waiting room reserved for VIP clients of the physician.

Fifteen minutes later.

It's now the couple's turn to enter the doctor's room where the clinic bed and ultrasound machine were located.

"Hello Doctor!" the couple greeted the OB in unison.

"Welcome back, guys! How's the pregnancy?" asked the OB.

"Great so far, doc. My baby is growing well, and I eat a lot, I always feel hungry. And my babies move a lot inside my tummy!" Caroline grinned.

"Oh, I see...but even if you eat a lot, you seemed to be not gaining much weight," the OB noticed.

The OB instructed Caroline to get on the weight scale and checked her BP and also conducted another test.

"Caroline, can you please get in the bed so that we can begin the ultrasound now," the doctor ordered gently.

"Yes Doc," Caroline replied excitedly.

Mike assisted his wife in bed.

The OB went to the ultrasound machine and began the process. She lifted the maternity dress exposing Caroline's bare stomach and run the transducer on her abdomen. The images were then conveyed to the monitor.

The image was a bit blurry at first in the first few seconds then it finally stabilized. "Wow! this is so nice, you were carrying have two babies! You got twins, Caroline! Congratulations!" the OB exclaimed in glee.

Mike and Caroline looked at each other, their eyes bursting with happiness.

"Thank you so much for the blessing, Lord! I'm now a father of twins!" Mike said proudly.

Caroline can't believe what she heard at first. Then the good news began to sink in her mind. She looked at the monitor.

OMG! God is so generous, he blessed them with two babies!

Amazing! She smiled happily with tears in her eyes.

The OB addressed the couple in a happy tone. "Guys, congrats! It's a boy and a girl!"

"Wonderful!" Mike can only react with happiness, tears of gladness shimmered in his eyes.

The OB finished the ultrasound after a few minutes.

Caroline got down from the bed and sat on the chair facing the physician.

"All your test are good. You are healthy and so are the twins in your tummy. I will prescribe you another set of vitamins in addition to your old ones. Do not indulge yourself in a stressful exercise just mild ones, like strolling or walking. Eat vegetables, milk, and fish, not so much on meat to avoid getting the baby fat or else you will have a hard time delivering big size babies on the day of giving birth," the doctor warned her.

Caroline nodded her head. "Okay, doctor. I will remember and obey all your reminders," she replied.

Ten minutes later.

The couple departed from the clinic and happily proceed to the nearest mall to buy baby stuff.

After parking his car in the parking lot of the mall, the couple entered the mall excitedly.

"Hubby, can we go to the nearest cafe shop first, I'm getting thirsty I need to buy my favorite strawberry and banana smoothie!" Caroline requested.

"Sure, sweetie!" Mike responded and they entered the nearest cafe that they could find inside the mall.

While inside the cafe shop.

Mike can't contain the urge to share the good news with his mother and brother. He places a call to his mother.

"Hello...son..." Susan's voice came into the line.

"Mom, I have good news for you! You won't believe it!" said Mike enthusiastically.

"What is it, son? Tell me now or I'll die of suspense!" demanded Susan.

"Alright, we just came from the OB's clinic awhile ago and we have an ultrasound on my wife's tummy. We got twin babies mother, a boy, and a girl!" Mike shared the good news.

"OMG! That's amazing news indeed!" Susan shrieked in delight. "We will have a family gathering again this weekend to celebrate the twins coming into our loves! God is so kind, he gives me lots of grandchildren to pamper! We are so blessed!" she added cheerfully.

Caroline was smiling while listening to the mother and son's conversation.

After five minutes, Mike and Susan ended their conversation.

After talking to her mother, Mike called his brother this time.

"Hello, bro! What's up?" John said.

"Bro, I have good news to share with you. We just come from the OB's clinic and my wife had an ultrasound. We have twins, a boy, and a girl!" Mike said beaming.

"Wow! That's fantastic, bro! I'm happy for you and Caroline. Did you already shared the news with Mother Susan?" John asked.

"Yes, I did. We just finished talking awhile ago and she was elated by the good news. She's planning another family gathering this weekend to celebrate another milestone and welcome the new addition to our family!" Mike enthused.

"That's great, bro. I'm looking forward to this weekend for the family gathering! Where are you now?" John said.

"After leaving the clinic, we proceed to the nearest mall to buy baby clothes. We're currently inside the cafe shop and going to the baby clothes section. See you this weekend bro. Bye," Mike said while looking at his wife signaling him to finish talking so that they can proceed to go shopping.

"Okay, enjoy shopping bro. Take care, bye!" John replied and ended the conversation at his end.

Mike looked at his wife. "Aren't you going to call your mother and siblings to share with them the good news?" he asked.

Caroline shook her head and smiled. "Later, after we come home," she replied. "Let's go now, I'm excited to go shopping for the babies clothing!" she said. A great amount of enthusiasm flashing in her eyes.

The couple exited the coffee shop holding each other's hands, walking on cloud 9.
