While he was telling himself not to stir any trouble inside the Adventurer Hall, Zayn approached the tall and magnificent building.
The Adventurer Hall towered over the surrounding buildings. This created a clear picture of the Adventurer alliance's wealth and influence within the city of the merchants. Its walls were decorated with ornate sculptures and carvings that depicted the Adventurer Alliance's history and accomplishments.
Zayn would have been mildly fascinated by the architecture, if not for the fact that the Adventurer Alliance had been nothing but a nuisance to him in the past.
The entrance of the Adventurer Hall was manned by a few well-armed guards all of whom were calmly standing rigidly like Stone Dragon statues. Only their eyes seemed to follow Zayn's movements as he passed through.
It was clear that the Adventurer Hall was a place of power and prestige, a place where the greatest minds and talents of the city would come and pursue their paths as Adventurers but Zayn could only sigh inwardly.
He didn't really like it inside the Adventurer Hall, no matter how impressive it looked inside and outside. Unfortunately, the Adventurer Hall was the easiest way for him to get access to information, and an Instructor.
Adventurers would always seek ways to make money, whether it was through hunting, or by teaching others. It didn't really make a big difference by what way they chose to increase their wealth. There would certainly be some renowned Adventurers willing to teach him as long as he offered them enough money in exchange for their lessons.
"How may I help you?" The young man at the counter opposite the entrance asked with a customary welcoming smile on his lips. Zayn removed the cowl of his cloak from his head before his eyes fell onto the seemingly emotionless expression of the young man.
The young receptionist didn't even take a look at his covered arm as he continued to give Zayn a neutral business smile.
'Maybe, this won't be a problem,' Zayn thought to himself while clearing his throat.
"I'm a 14-year-old Normie and I would like to apply for the G-Rank Adventurer examination."
He didn't stutter while speaking, which made it quite easy to consider that he was confident in his strength. Becoming a G-rank Adventurer at the age of 14 was nothing impressive, but that was only something that applied for Blessed. Not many Normies were willing to register as Adventurers because they knew that the most annoying missions would be handed to them.
Everyone had to fulfill a certain quota of missions in a month, and Normies were usually given missions that nobody wanted to fulfill. Thus, Zayn's words drew some attention toward him. The other receptionists looked over to him with a mixture of displeasure but also faint interest in their eyes.
"There is no need for that," The young receptionist responded as calmly as before. It was almost as if he couldn't care less whether Zayn was a normie or a prodigious Blessed. That was a nice change and a relief for once!
"What do you mean?" Zayn asked, not quite understanding the meaning behind the receptionist's words.
"What I mean is that you will be registered as a G-rank Adventurer the moment we have examined your bone structure. You might just look young, after all! It would be quite nonsensical to decline a 14-year-old with a Soulring, don't you think so?" The young receptionist remarked, adding a small joke before he retrieved a small orb from behind the wooden counter.
"Please hold out your hand for a moment. I need to prick it so that all necessary data can be gathered by the orb. Once you're pricked, I need you to press your hand flat on the orb. It won't hurt much, don't worry."
Zayn was so baffled by the unbiased way he was being treated by the young receptionist that he didn't even notice the tip of a needle pricking his middle finger followed by the young man pressing his hand on top of the orb.
By the time he realized that the orb might find out far more things, things he didn't want anyone else to know, it was way too late.
"Didn't you say that you were 14 years old?" The young receptionist asked all of a sudden as he looked at the hieroglyphs that formed within the semi-translucent orb. Zayn swallowed his saliva nervously, wondering how to answer the next set of questions that would follow suit. Meanwhile, the young man kept staring at him with a mixture of curiosity and surprise.
"The orb says that you're only 13 years old. Were you trying to go through as someone older? Well, you certainly act more mature than I expect from a teenager around your age…life must be hard for a Normie, forcing even children to mature to…well whatever…" The young receptionist seemed to have a lot to say but he kept his mouth shut.
He smiled weakly at Zayn before he retrieved a form that was pinned to a wooden noticeboard. The young receptionist filled out the information he got to know with the orb's help before he handed Zayn the rest.
"Since you're not a Blessed, you don't have a personalized identification card yet. Fill in the blank parts, and I will create your Adventurer Identification Card. The Guards and others shouldn't stir too much trouble for you in the future. Though, I cannot really promise anything…"
'Is that dude an Angel?' Zayn wondered, his ocean-blue eyes fixated on the young receptionist who treated him like a normal human being while being a Blessed. That was extremely rare to see.
The fact that he was only 13 years old rather than 14 was not really much of a problem either. He actually didn't know how old he had been when he emerged in the wilderness outside the human territory. Hence, it didn't really make a big difference for him whether he was currently 13 or 14 years old either.
The only thing of interest and relief for Zayn was the fact that the young receptionist was being so nice and polite to him. It was a pleasant surprise.
Unfortunately, the growing whispers and murmuring around him caused the pleasant feeling within him to shatter, though it was not the young receptionist's fault.
"The Levian family is already disgraceful because of their misfit of a daughter…but is it really necessary for Silas to act like that as well?"
