Chapter 149: To Put Power On Display Part Two
They all thought it was the end. Their situation looked impossible, their wounds were severe, and they were surrounded by monsters. The one who could save them was far away and it
didn't look like he would be able to help them anytime soon.
'It seems I'm still a hopeful fool in the end.'
Ren silently cursed himself for being too cocky. He wanted to impress Master Yuuto, to show him they wouldn't be a disappointment this time, a burden, that he could follow them out again.
But it seemed that his hope of a future adventure might have led his team to their graves. 'Master Yuuto, if you are watching this, please forgive me. I'm sorry that I let you down.'
In that instant, Alister's voice rang out, "Come forth, Terra!"
CRACKLE!
A massive rift opened above Ren and the others. In an instant, a massive roar echoed through the valley.
...
"W-wait... What's this! Did you hear that, Elena?" Marcus asked with surprise in his voice.
"Yes, I did, but isn't it Alister's dragon?"
"No! It can't be, it was too close. Let's switch to Alister's feed!"
They switched the feed, but as they did what they saw next left them in awe.
...
The monsters that surrounded Ren and the others seemed to freeze in fear, and the ground around them softened, turning to sand and halting their movements.
A massive wall rose up, shielding Ren and the others from the Grendak's attack. In that instant, spikes of sand shot forward from the earth, impaling all the monsters, ending them instantly.
...
"W-what is this power... Whose talent is this?"
"I don't remember anyone in the White Comets being able to manipulate sand, Marcus."
"Wait... Then who..." Before he could finish asking his question, he was interrupted by a massive crash.
...
BOOM!
A massive golden dragon emerged from the rift above. Ren and the others widened their eyes in shock as they gazed upon it.
"He's now a big shot! Seriously though, who would want to mess with a guy with three mythical summons!"
"I'm still recruiting for the dragon summoner fan club!"
"I'll join, where do I sign up?"
"Isn't he strong enough to be given a nickname now?"
"Oh! What about Dragon Lord!"
"Sounds neat!"
"All hail the Dragon Lord!"
"All hail the Dragon Lord!"
...
Ren, still catching his breath, looked at Alister. "Alister, you... How did you-"
"I didn't want things to play out like this," Alister said sharply, interrupting him as he slowly walked up to Ren and the others. The aura around him seemed to make the air a bit hard to
breathe in.
"But it seems I have no choice."
Razogrin, frowning in confusion, asked, "What?"
Ren, equally bewildered, added, "What are you talking about?"
Alister's eyes narrowed. "Keep quiet and get rid of your body cams," he ordered.
Ren was shocked, looking pale and shaky. He hadn't seen this side of Alister. He stammered,
"Wait, what?"
Alister pointed sharply at Ren's wounds. "You're bleeding out. We need to handle that."
"But how does that-" Ren began, but Alister cut him off, his tone firm and slightly cold. "Get
rid of the cams now."
Ren and the others exchanged uneasy glances but complied. They each reached up to their suits, pressing the buttons that deactivated the cams. Alister did the same.
As the last cam went off, Alister took a look at their wounds, then said, "This might hurt, but
it's necessary."
Alister reached out his hand towards them. "Blood manipulation," he said calmly. In that instant, the blood spilled on Ren and the others' suits slowly retreated to their bodies. The blood heated up as it moved, making them wince in pain.
