Chapter 25: Chapter 25: A type of coldness, when he feels that you’re distant

When Lu Xiao came out after a quick wash, everyone had already taken their seats.
There was only one spot left, directly opposite Wen Xian.
On one side of Wen Xian sat her mother, and on the other side, her mother’s son.
Sang Nian had wanted to sit next to the Goddess, but alas, little fatty Dawa was so mesmerized by the beautiful sister he had never seen before that he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Clutching a large chicken leg, he blushed and fidgeted next to his grandmother, saying he wanted to sit with the pretty miss.
Sang Nian stood no chance against the child, and Wen Xian directly let the little chubby boy sit on her other side.
Everyone was lively and particularly warm to Wen Xian.
Yet Wen Xian, with her antisocial personality tendencies, pushed her duplicity to the limit.
In public, she was all sweetness and smiles, honeyed to the core.
When Lu Xiao re-entered the room, his gaze lingered on her as she blended in with everyone, and his eyes flickered slightly.
“Captain Lu is here. Come, sit here. Everyone, please start eating. There’s more food in the kitchen if you want it,” the Captain warmly ushered with a smile.
Wen Xian hadn’t seen him yet, but she seemed to feel his presence behind her.
However, she didn’t turn around, only tousling her long hair behind her shoulders, casually revealing her fair and delicate skin.
But not even two seconds later—
Suddenly, a jacket landed firmly on her shoulders. She turned reflexively, the clothing sliding off, and Wen Xian caught it in one swift motion.
Then, she saw Lu Xiao nonchalantly return to his seat, not even glancing at her as he said, “The weather’s getting cold, it’s getting colder. Everyone, be sure to keep warm!”
Even though he had thrown the jacket only to her, his words were addressed to everyone.
Wen Xian looked down at the jacket and quirked an eyebrow.
—It was his jacket.
Wen Xian looked up at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. “Captain Lu, I’m not cold now.”
Lu Xiao had already sat down, picking up a bowl and helping himself to some dishes. He didn’t even lift his eyelids to look at her and said without a trace of emotion, “No, you’re cold.”
Sang Nian snorted, almost laughing out loud.
A cold glance from Lu Xiao silenced Sang Nian immediately, and he sat up straight and proper, clearing his throat.
But what was going on? Why did he feel that the atmosphere between their Captain and Sister Xian was, tonight, somehow indescribably… subtle?
Sang Nian’s shifty gaze darted back and forth between them, thinking that Sister Xian dressed so beautifully today, maybe his boss, the Captain, didn’t want her to expose too much…?
Getting excited by his own gossip, he finally couldn’t help but give a meaningful chuckle to Wen Xian. “Sister Xian, our Captain is right. You should put it on. You just got better, don’t catch a cold again.”
Wen Xian: “…”
Wear it, of course, wear it. How could she not?
This was Captain Lu’s jacket, after all.
Wen Xian stared at him as she slowly put on his oversized windbreaker.
Instantly, his masculine scent surrounded her, the cool smell of pine mixed with a hint of tobacco, as well as that unique manly fragrance of his, all mingling together, filling her nostrils.
Exceptionally…
Stirring…!
