"Aunty…" Wang Yue gazed anxiously at the approaching old woman. Looking at the little figure in the old lady's embrace, she wavered in unknown jealousy.
Madam Tang stared at her and coldly whispered, "Didn't you tell me you have given Sun Xumei infertility drugs and it's impossible for her to get pregnant? What is this? Was my granddaughter dropped from the sky?"
"I… I made sure to watch her taking drugs. I don't know how she became pregnant with… this girl…" Wang Yue murmured bitterly as she glanced at Luo Lixi.
"..." A shiver ran down Luo Lixi's spine when she learned this and her mind trembled as she thought in disbelief, 'These two people nearly blocked my path to come into this world! Unforgivable!!!'
Again, Wang Yue's eyes changed as determination came like sharp lights. She peeked at the figure who was following Housekeeper Wu in another direction with contempt.
After the two people entered Luo Baiyun's room, she turned to Madam Tang and whispered with an evil grin, "If aunty wants… I can make her lose both children… Aunty doesn't want to accept that fake lady in the family just like uncle Qintian, am I right?"
"..." When the terrifying words entered Luo Lixi's little ears, a flash of imaginary lightning came out of the blue and stunned Luo Lixi so much that she stiffened.
Her eyes opened with a start and those black orbs widened in shock, 'My God! She wants to kill me?!... She must have also wanted to kill me in my first life then… The world is so cruel! Ruming!'
The woman she thought was good and who gave her affection and love at the lowest point of her life... she wanted to kill her?! Such a twist of fate!
"Don't you dare!" When the old lady heard her unpleasant words, she flared up like a hostile viper and scolded her, "She is pregnant! If you dare to do something, I will see the end of you! Also, you are already married and have a son! Better forget about becoming my daughter in law!"
"But, aunty, I can divorce my husband and… " Wang Yue urgently spoke out but she was interrupted midway by Madam Tang.
"No but! It was one thing if Sun Xumei turned out infertile but she didn't. You are already a failure to complete your task. Also, I can see that my son really likes that girl! It's better to accept her as my daughter in law than to see my grandchild living outside!"
After venting out her frustration, Madam Tang entered the master bedroom and closed the door with brute force which made a loud noise throughout the mansion.
There remained nothing more for Wang Yue to do now that Sun Xumei was going to be the mother of two children when she wasn't supposed to be having even one. Wang Yue felt nasty at her disappointing failure! But even then, she refused to accept this outcome!
'I had hidden that little bastard's birth for so many months from this old hag. Why did she know before I could kill her with her mother?! Damn it!' Wang Yue gritted her teeth angrily as she stormed off to the direction of Sun Xumei's room.
…
After the old woman entered the bedroom, she laid Luo Lixi on the soft bed with extreme care. Then she covered her with a fluffy blanket and went in another direction. She touched a candle stand and after a while, the door of a secret room revealed itself.
Madam Tang glanced at Luo Lixi and upon watching as the little baby was sleeping, she turned around and entered the room.
Luo Lixi opened her eyes when her grandmother left and glanced at the secret door. Even though it was the first time for her to see it, she wasn't surprised as she also knew a secret path that leads to the outside.
Even her grandfather didn't know the path or else it would have been impossible for her to sneakily leave the mansion and fall victim to Luo Lixiang's trap.
Her mind was in turmoil as she thought of the information she knew today and began to digest them slowly. When a long time passed, she took a deep breath and pondered in dismay, 'I never knew such grave matters… everything is so shocking…''
As she thought her face creased into a bitter expression. When she heard a creak of the door opening, she hurriedly closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
Madam Tang came out of the secret room and closed it by twisting the candle stand back to its original position. Then, she placed many little boxes on a chair and then sat down beside her. The old lady stared at Luo Lixi who was trying very hard to not move.
Then, someone came and knocked on the door. "Madam. It's me."
"Enter." The old lady replied softly while her eyes were locked on the little girl on the bed. She was afraid that the knocking might have woken up Luo Lixi but she was relieved to see the little girl unmoved.
The maid entered and stood behind the old woman. Madam Tang glanced sideways as she asked her, "Are Wang Yue and Bin Manman still present in the mansion?"
"Yes." The maid nodded as she curiously seized up Luo Lixi. In the master bedroom of the Luo Mansion, except the ones who were given permission, others weren't allowed to enter.
Even Luo Baiyun wasn't allowed. Watching Luo Lixi sleeping on the bed, she guessed that it must be the work of Madam Tang and immediately she guessed the value of Luo Lixi in the old lady's heart.
"Where are they?" The old lady asked as she turned around and glanced at the maid.
"In the guest rooms… Madam, should I ask them to leave?" After all, the maid had heard everything that happened in the mansion.
She thought the old lady had lost interest in those little kids of Wang and Bin family and wanted them to leave instantly for hurting her grandchild.
"No. I have invited them for tonight's banquet. Didn't know the housekeeper would be successful in bringing the little girl today… If I knew, I would not have invited them."
Madam Tang sighed as she remembered the words of Wang Yue. If she didn't see Little Luo Lixi's photo before, she might have agreed. But after seeing the little one, she couldn't bear to do so.
Then her eyes fell on the little girl who was sleeping on the bed. Instantly, her eyes softened as she rubbed Luo Lixi's belly, 'How can I bear to harm this little one when all along I wanted a girl to spoil…'
The old lady's eyes fell on the dress Luo Lixi was wearing. Instantly, the long lost wishes of hers came back and kicked in her consciousness heavily.
"It's not befitting for my granddaughter to wear such normal dresses. Not to say, she appears like a middle-class family's girl in this normal get-up. Xiao Chi, tell Wu to buy many beautiful dresses for my granddaughter."
The grandma who finally got her granddaughter in her grasp, whispered gently as she stood up and went to the little jewellery boxes. Her eyes shone brightly when she imagined how cute Luo Lixi would look in those ornaments.
"Yes, madam." The maid nodded and hurriedly left the room with a huge smile. Housekeeper Wu knew the temper of Madam Tang for a long time. As soon as she gave the order, many little dresses, as well as little shoes, were sent to the master bedroom in five minutes.
Luo Lixi could not continue to pretend to be sleeping for so long because it was unbearable, not to mention the loud noises the other people were making.
"Yawn~" When Luo Lixi woke up and faked a loud yawn, she was met with the scene of her grandmother and the maid matching dresses and little jewellery.
"..." Even though she knew why, she was reminded of a certain someone who loved to buy a lot of things for her.
The old lady froze and turned to the dumbfounded Luo Lixi and asked gently while making her way towards the little girl, "Xixi, you are awake."
Madam Tang went ahead and picked up Luo Lixi who was busy rubbing her eyes. Then, her little eyes curiously looked at the jewellery and little dresses.
Those were so little and cute that her little heart bubbled with excitement. 'Why am I getting this excited? I am not a real little girl... So why?!'
Even then she was very happy that her grandmother at least loved her despite some unknown disputes among her parents and her. But some worries were left in her head when she remembered Wang Yue's words.
'I have to do something…' Luo Lixi thought as she glanced outside subconsciously. Even though the maid and her grandma were trying to show her beautiful dresses, her mind was somewhere else.
