Volume 1 - CH 5.1

Krall, a fortress that strangles the Littoran Basin.

Midnight. The voices of three people echo in the shadows.

It is a long spell chant by Kengo, Sato, and Mamoyo.

Fort Krall stands on the shore of the lake of the eponymous name, which is the source of its water.

The lake was now a giant mirror reflecting the full moon in the sky.

If anyone had a bird’s eye view, they would have noticed it. The moon’s reflection on the surface of the lake, like a silver tray, is unusually huge. I also noticed the gradual rustling.

There was no wind, but the waves were rising.

As if frightened of something, as if running away, the waves soon became higher and faster.

Then, as if reaching a peak, something strange happened.

The moon’s reflection on the surface of the lake distorted its image in an impossible way. But instantly like an iron bar that had been bent by force (again), it instantly regained its original proper shape.

At the same time, something was on top of it, as if it were a huge silver tray, on top of that lake.

It was a castle.

The castle of the Demon Lord, still black even in the moonlight, stood aloof like a trompe l’oeil on the surface of the lake, without any foothold, like a trick picture.

The black Mao Castle, which was still black even at night, stood on the surface of the lake, which should not be used at all as a scaffolding, like a trick picture.

“Thank you for your hard work, My Majesty the Devil!”

“The Devil’s Castle Transition Ceremony”, As of today is also a success, my lord!”

“Sa Fuji and Mamoyo also, thank you for your hard work in assisting His Majesty”

“In terms of the knowledge about the demonic magic technology, there is no opponent to you at all. I’m jealous.”

“Hun! I could have easily done it alone in place of Kengo though!”

“……My stomach’s craving.”

The Demon generals praised their Lord Kengo and the others for their exemplary execution and skills.

Inside this well known, popular Krall Fortress; there was a huge fuss between the people present there.

(I’m glad it went well.)

Kengo wiped the sweat from his forehead and felt relieved inside.

In comparison to the three types of defensive magic, healing magic, and spell casting magic that I have mastered through hard work, I am not so confident in summoning magic. Even more so if it becomes a great magic to summon and fix a whole castle built next to the plateau, on top of the lake without allowing even a gentle reverberation to it.

Although for me, it’s kind of a strange story altogether. Or should I say, as expected of a demon king, as since the amount of magic power I was born with is so enormous, I didn’t need to have the utmost magic summoning techniques or even to go to the extremes for this whatsoever.

It’s also reassuring to know that Sato and Mamoyo, two of the most skilled magicians in the demon world, were assisting me by my side all the time.

And with this note, the relocation of the Demon King’s Castle was now complete.

We have succeeded in expanding the demon world to the extent that the human world has been cut down, in short, we have come one more step closer to world domination.

With such a large-scale summoning magic that was being planned, even after combining the powers of the Demon King and the two Demon Generals, it was still not enough. Thus, It became necessary to wait for the night of the full moon – when the time was also complete, full, even in the “heavens” – and watch-out for the pulse of the “Area” wound Littoral to activate, before proceeding with our ritual.

However, this was still not the end of the story.

After the invasion, there was no time to rest, as defending our position was waiting.

“What are the conditions of those Braves, Mamoyo?”

“I will answer to that question immediately, my lord, My Devil. These fools are drinking alcohol looking at the moonshine in an open field while traveling. They have no sense of urgency or tension at all.”

While answering, Mamoyo creates a three-dimensional image combining the phantom magic and detection magic that he is good at.

“The Red Hero” Ares and his friends surrounding a bonfire in an unknown open field, drinking from the contents of the water bag (perhaps sake) with the full moon on view, slowly drinking it, taking sip after sip, was being projected in great detail.

The demon generals surrounded the three-dimensional image and began to comment whatever they felt about the Brave.

“What, this is the Red Hero? He surely doesn’t have a face that one can rely upon, you know.”

“And ── It may be the hand of this guy to let our guard down. You shouldn’t let yourself be caught off guard, Asumi.”

“Either way, he is no opponent of mine in any way!”

“As-as I am constantly saying, you should not be careless, Lushiko-san. you, you know!”

“Moreover, look at that, this guy has three cute-beauties attending him. Argh I’m so jealous.”

“Well, it’s natural, since he is a Brave. In short, they are the children of that lustful Heavenly Emperor.”

And ── well, as expected, if the opponent is a Brave. It was indeed a state of interest even in the interest of the magic generals.”

In the meantime, Ares, or rather his stereoscopic image, looks around as if he has noticed something wrong, scurrying around his vicinity.

Slightly later, one of his companions (probably a black wizard) followed his suit.

“HO~, so they were able to notice the detection magic of the Mamoyo hee?”

“They do have a pretty good intuition.”

“See, as I said. They are not someone to be taken lightly.”

“But they are still unable to tell by who and from where it was being casted, seen by! If it were me, I would have already blocked it with anti-detection magic long ago.”

“It is the fact that these puny humans are able to detect the “Gaze” of Mamoyo in itself is already considered no small talk you should know. If it were the Brave alone, that would have been a different story. But to think that also this cute beauty who is accompanying him was able to do so. If we were to think that she is just some mistress, it might be a huge mistake on our part. He is not letting her accompany for something as trivial as a Date.”

[Tl note: the last sentence can also be interpreted as: The fact that he is not letting her accompany him for just any trivial reason whatsoever – is what we must understand.]
