The regular exams were over and for a while, I was busy dealing with the aftermath of the Magic knight academy.
The first is the scandal of the regular exam.
The preparator who caused the cheating in exam, Matthew Muru, along with stripping of his court rank for the forgery of official documents and several other crimes was sentenced to work in the mines for around 10 years. Those who accompanied Count and dirtied their hand in the muddy water was dealt with more than a little punishment.
It seems that deputy head and others from the aristocratic faction, who were trembling with fear at the wrath of the retired emperor, took decisive action and discarding any feelings, mutually pinned everything on him and abandoned him like a lizard shedding it's tail and insisted on the death penalty for Matthew but the judicial department unusually did job well, rejecting it and the result of this was this charge. If it wasn't for the sone kind of dictatorship, his sin in this time incident deserve death penalty. I think it's a reasonable line.
Of course, Mia's suspicion of cheating was cleared and her answer sheet is perfectly preserved in Baron Hakuro's photograph. As a result of justifiable marking, all of my students ranked in the top 20 among all the other students.
After the grading of all students was over, a general meeting for the professors was held after the regular exam and the need for reformation of the academy was announced.
Naturally, the professors of the aristocratic faction opposed like raging fire but that fire was extinguished as soon as Matthew's fraud was brought over. Thanks to them for focusing on self protection, faculty meetings proceeded smoothly and lots of facts were decided.
One of them is the introduction of merit based subjects.
Students will be required to take all main courses and several other elective courses which are designated by the academy to choose from by themselves. Only those who earn a fixed amount of credit will be able to take the promotion exam for each grade.
This is the credit system adopted by most universities on earth. Students aren't dumb either. They have enough ability to distinguish which classes are optimum for them. Just as the G class and S class did. Rest is for students, how they take care of it. In the end, the teacher's mission is only to point out the path ahead for the students.
By the way, this credit system method has already been implemented by the Camelot's graduate school in the Ruddle. Most likely Dean and the Lord Horus had heard about the lifestyle of Ruddle from an easy going lecturer of a S class and took reference from it.
Second, a common examination countermeasure committee for the academic department.
The old professors group continuously insisted that the lectures would be left to the lecturers that were already in charge of lessons of S class. As if it was their birth right to oppose at every turn, professors of the aristocratic faction vehemently objected to it. Both sides remain at stand off but they finally come to an agreement that they would not infringe on each other's subject area.
Third is the management of the class.
This was the most complicated. After all, the management of the class is a vital point in the tradition of the Magic knight academy. The old and new group of professors were contending for the position of homeroom teacher of the Upper grade class.
It's even more awful after Sieg said that he will be stepping down from his homeroom teacher position of S class. And to no one's surprise, the situation soon turned chaotic who's going to be the successor.
Even if we don't talk about other things, Sieg is a professor with a sage title. I can see the situation becoming chaotic if he stepped down. I guess the conduct of Caesar and Sylphy this time has crossed the line which was absolutely unforgivable for the Sieg.
When the chaos is at its peak, the situation finally calms down when the Dean, who insists on the request from the imperial government, decides the homeroom teacher at his discretion. If the scandal hadn't been exposed, you could have just forget about the situation being under control for eternity.
In present, the chief members who will be in the forefront for reformation are now gathering inside the dean's office.
"So... You're nominated as the homeroom teacher for S class in the end, right Sieg?"
I asked Sieg, who was still looking in the opposite direction with a grumpy look, looking at him with half closed eyes.
"I will not do it"
"Don't throw tantrums like a kid. Are you going to throw your responsibility midway when you are old enough to be aware of some facts?"
While shrugging my shoulders, I poked him on the spot he is hurting most right now.
"You Sir are the same when it comes to throwing away your responsibility midway!"
"I don't think it's too late. Rather than that, what about the intention of everyone from S and G class?"
Rebecca spoke up to further up the talk.
"They all wanted to stay in the second grade. They want to learn more in the academy"
S class was a newly founded special class. It is basically based on the high scorers of the entrance examination but beginning with Aqua, several other talented students who have received the special scholarship are brought in from the upper grades.
Especially Aqua and several others who are in their 4th year this year. If everything goes right, they should have graduated this year. That's why they were given the choices whether they would like to take the promotion exam and essentially graduate from this academy or else, they would like to continue as second year students and continue with three more years of student lifestyle.
Similarly, this also applied to G class. Pluto, Teresa and Cliff are all sophomores, though the number of times they repeated their grades varies. According to my estimation, they would have graduated in the next two years. They were also presented with the choice whether they want to be second year students of S class or want to be promoted to third year A class.
"The necessity of rivalry was proven this year with the S and G classes. I will submit the proposal to split each grades in two in next faculty meeting"
Rebecca declared, looking somewhat excited.
"Electing a few classes huh. Isn't it all right? Only the professors in charge of the required subjects can't be homeroom teachers. With this system, almost any professor can be a homeroom teacher. As long as there's no shortage of them, the noble lineage aristocrats won't object too much."
The professor of the combat magic department nodded in satisfaction while massaging his blonde shaved head.
If the proposal of Rebecca were to be adopted, each class of each grade would be divided into two and reshuffled into 1 & 2.
If my reasoning is correct, the students who were in S class until now and G class will be composed into second year S-1 class and second year S-2 class respectively.
"I will also dispatch combat staff from my company for S-1 and S-2 class"
"That would be great"
I stood up, raising my right hand to the dean who bowed to me. I have already talked about what I wanted to do. I will leave the particulars to them.
"I will take my leave with this!"
Bowing politely, I also left the dean's office.
The setting sun gently enveloped the earth like a burning flame.
Everything is settled. Now that I'm out of duty as a homeroom teacher, I have more to spare.
It was just as George had said. There are lots of suspicious factors in this world lately. Every transpiring event is on the level that wasn't normal. I have to train seriously. As long as I have time from now on, I must repeat my training single mindedly.
When I transferred under the shade of a tree, the surrounding scenery changed to a golden room.
[Why plunging yourself into this hell again...... ]
Mura's sorrowful voice ruminates inside my mind, giving off the feeling as if he has somehow given up.
"Let's go"
Holding Mura in my hand, I embarked on the path of deadly training.
