I walked to the back of the room and stood in front of the desk.
[This is Roy-san’s office.]
As I explain, I search for traces of magic around the place where Alma was. There is a possibility that she may have set up an stationary–type magic, so it’s best to be vigilant.
I looked at the desk, the chair, and the wall in turn, but felt nothing. Wasn’t she so out of her mind that she could suddenly cause harm?
[That woman was just sitting there and didn’t try anything. I’m relieved.]
The guards came over to us first and confirmed the same. Both of them have no magic power, so they are probably checking for physical traps or monitoring tools.
[It looks fine.]
[Thank you, both of you.]
After patting the guards on the shoulders he sat down in the leather chair.
The chair was made of monster-derived material, so it was sturdier than it looked. There’s a window in the back, but I’m sure the backrest will protect him from flying arrows. It also has other protective systems befitting the head of an Adventurer’s Guild branch. This room alone would have cost enough money to build a mansion.
It is one of the most luxurious rooms in the branch, and it is proof that the Adventurer’s Guild has high expectations for Yang.
[Tomorrow, Yang’s Adventurer’s Branch will begin.]
He released quiet but weighty words to the guards.
Is this the pressure of a man who has been appointed as a Branch Chief? There was a forcefulness to his words that seemed to unite the adventurers and make them obey him.
[The church officials are our competitors. Starting tomorrow, I’m taking 10 adventurers, including myself, to the dungeon. The other party will probably be there at the same time, so please keep your troubles to a minimum.]
The guards nodded simultaneously to Roy’s words.
His eyes were burning with a sense of mission, and he seemed to be full of motivation, perhaps influenced by Alma’s provocation.
Even though the building was not even completed yet, they had a strong sense of competition. The same must be true for the Church. It looks like a fierce battle will start tomorrow. ……
[Lars–san.]
[What can I do for you?]
[If you’re available tomorrow, would you be willing to show me around the Dungeon?]
Would you like to go out of Yang? …… I need to talk to Sophie. The other side is probably talking to Alma right now, and if they’re having a similar conversation, I’d like to know what they talked about.
[Is it okay if I give an answer tomorrow?]
[It’s fine. The talk about the escort is only for Yang, you know. If you are willing to accept, please come to the Adventurer’s Guild.]
[I understand.]
[I’ve asked. Also, is there anything else I should see in this building?]
[I’ll show you to the hidden passageway. Are okay with that?]
It may sound crazy, but there was also an escape passage that had been erased from the blueprints.
After he finished, he looked at his guards. I needed to make sure that I could tell them exactly how to do it.
[They are trustworthy people, so no problem. Please.]
I stepped hard on a part of the floor, and a part of the wall opened up to reveal a narrow passage.
[Go deeper and you’ll be outside Yang.]
[That’s great. Let’s try it once. You guys remember it too.]
I used the Light Magic to illuminate the dimly lit passage and led the way down the straight path. I could hear Roy’s footsteps behind me.
After about an hour of walking, we reached outside. There was a small hill overlooking Yang.
[This is the end of the tour.]
For a moment, I thought he was going to erase me, but I didn’t feel any murderous intentions.
I guess I had been too cautious lately because I had encountered some disturbing people.
[Zelma–sama, I, and the carpenters involved in the construction. They are the Elmer family’s employees, so I’m sure no information will leak out.]
[That’s a relief.]
Roy looked at Yang and replied.
[Shall we go home?]
It would be inconvenient to stay here too long and be seen by someone, so he quickly returned to his office.
I showed them around the Reception Area, the Dismantling Room and the Warehouse on the first floor, and when I had finished explaining everything, we disbanded.
