Chapter 562: Still Succeed

Yao Ran acted like she wanted to shake her head at first, then decide against it at the last minute. She appeared to have thought of something before she nodded with forced reluctance. “That would be fine, but I don’t think there would be any more problems in the future. It just hurt for a little while, that’s all.”
Her words fueled the guests’ imaginations, and now they were more inclined to presume that there really was something between her and Yang Nian.
Yao Tang glanced atYao Ran’s supposedly sprained ankle. Her eyes narrowed slightly, though she eventually leaned against the banister and played with her phone.
“Young Master Yang,” someone suddenly called out from the top of the stairs. “Which young lady is injured?”
They all turned in the direction of the voice and found a doctor in a white coat striding over.
Yao Ran perked up in surprise.
At that moment, Yan Weiwas standing in the middle of the crowd. When she realized who had arrived, her eyes widened in shock.
Why was Doctor Baihere?
Something else occurred to her then, and Yan Weifelt cold all over. She took a step back and kept her head down, trying hard to blend in the background.
Yao Ran frowned at the doctor who should have been stuck on the highway before shifting her gaze toYan Wei.
Wasn’t there an accident?
What was he doing in the Yang residence?
Yao Ran bit her lip. This wasn’t the place or time for her to ask these questions. For now, she neededYan Weito speak up and intervene before the situation got out of hand.
To her annoyance, Yan Weiwas seemingly oblivious toYao Ran’s pointed stare. It was as though she had never been involved since the beginning.
Yan Wei had begun to chat with the guests beside her, acting like she wasn’t interested in what was happening at all.
Knowing that she was cornered, Yao Rangritted her teeth and spoke. “Young Master Yang, didn’t you say that your family doctor was held up in an accident on the highway? Is it all right for him to come over like this? What about his injuries?”
Yang Nian looked impassive, almost like he had been expecting her to say these exact words.
By then, the doctor was already in the room. He took a moment to study Yao Ranbefore acknowledging her questions.
“Doctor Zhang did indeed meet an accident on the road. He is currently being treated at the hospital. I just happened to be in the scene as well, so he asked me to come in his stead.”
He stepped forward, his eyes zeroing in on her foot. “I hear that you sprained your ankle. How are you feeling now?”
Yao Ran’s eyes flickered, and she couldn’t help but stutter a little. “I—I just… I fell over and twisted it a little. I felt a bit of pain, so I assumed that I had a sprain. It’s all fine now.”
Despite her words, Director Bai crouched in front of her and examined the area in question. He then proceeded to ask her a few things.
Yao Ran watched him with narrowed eyes as she slowly calmed down. She had panicked at first, but she was able to pull herself together. Now, she was patiently waiting for the doctor’s opinion.
What could he do, anyway?
Her leg had been injured beforehand, which contributed to the redness and swelling.
She would need to soak it in cold water and apply the ointment from Old Madam Yaofor the swelling to disappear.
Besides, even if the doctor declared her injury to be nothing serious, the guests would only think that he was an accomplice to her and Yang Nian’s act. He worked for the young man, after all.
They could just assume that he was taking orders from Yang Nian.
More importantly, no one could prove that nothing had happened between her and Yang Nian.
There might have been a few setbacks, but Yao Ranwas certain that her plan would still succeed. By the end of the night, everyone would think thatYao Tangwas the third party while she was the poor cousin that was always bullied.
Yao Ran’s mouth lifted ever so lightly at the corners, and her eyes gleamed with anticipation.
In the next second, however, she felt a sharp, stabbing pain shooting from her foot up to the top of her head. She looked at her ankle, her face ashen.
Director Bai had been examining this area just now.
Her brows furrowed as sweat began to bead on her forehead.
Thankfully, the pain didn’t last long and was gone after a moment. Yao Ranfinally relaxed and thought nothing more of it.
Yao Tang watched it all happen. She tilted her head to the side and let out a soft sigh.
“Doctor Bai was truly ruthless with his methods.”
But her words were drowned out by the din of the crowd’s murmurs, and no one suspected a thing.
Doctor Bai straightened and said, “She needs to take an x-ray. Her bones are fractured, and she needs immediate treatment. The longer she drags this on, the worse it would be for her foot.”
Yao Ran’s jaw dropped. “You must have made a mistake, Doctor. How is that possible?”
A fracture?
How could she have possibly had a fracture under these circumstances?
Even if she fell with more force, it couldn’t have been bad enough to cause a fracture!
“Are you questioning my authority as a doctor?” Doctor Baiasked, visibly displeased.
Yao Ran, being who she was, grabbed the opportunity and milked it as much as she could.
“But I didn’t—” she said hurriedly, only to stop herself and pause. “You’re mistaken, Doctor. I don’t have a fracture, I mean, I couldn’t have… Please check again!”
The guests sported similar expressions of bafflement at this new development.
What was Yao Ranplanning to say this time?
