Chapter 761: Shocking Revelations
“You can forget about it!”
President Tan was at a loss. He gaped at the person rolling on the ground and finally understood what it meant to use one’s cultivation to attack another person.
So, the Cabinet Elders had this sort of power?
That would certainly explain why the Music Association was held in such high regard by the outside world, so much so that it was considered an entity of authority by itself.
President Tan felt as though he had been enlightened.
Without the cabinet, the association wouldn’t be what it was now.
It was the elders’ special abilities that had pushed the organization to the pinnacle of power.
He finally understood, too, why he was never admitted to the cabinet despite being a first-class conductor and a branch president.
All this time, he simply thought that the elders were biased and incredibly particular about one’s talent.
President Tan was talented, to be sure, but he was no true genius.
As it turned out, the Cabinet Elders’ standards were focused on another aspect entirely.
If he wasn’t mistaken, they paid more attention to a candidate’s spiritual skills and mental fortitude.
A person who was lacking in spiritual strength had no place among them, no matter how skilled they were in music.
President Tan was oddly at peace with this revelation.
It was no wonder that the cabinet had always remained a mystery, even among the members of the association. He himself didn’t know much about the prestigious inner circle.
But these mysterious assailants should be aware of the arrangement, judging by how prepared they were.
Moreover, they seemed to be targeting specifically those who possessed some level of spiritual cultivation.
Or maybe… Maybe there was a bigger conspiracy behind the attack.
In any case, they had no way of knowing for sure, at least not for now.
With all that said, what shocked President Tan the most was the fact that Yao Tang also possessed this incredible spiritual strength.
That alone supplanted every other discovery he had made today.
At the back of his mind, he began to wonder if Yao Tang’s cultivation was even greater than the Cabinet Elders’. Or perhaps, even greater than the missing Elder Chen…
President Tan thought back to the events that had transpired the day before.
Yao Tang was initially against taking the three elders as her masters.
It was only after the old men had agreed to grant her access to the Compendium Pavilion that she finally relented.
Now, she had effectively handled the same situation that had probably led to Elder Chen’s disappearance, and did so without breaking a sweat.
President Tan was still reeling from it all.
The only predominant thought in his head was that he had gravely underestimated Yao Tang.
A mere three minutes later, all the goons were on the ground, their limbs spread out, their eyes empty. They looked like they had lost their minds.
Tan Jian stomped over and kicked a few of the men, but they barely budged at all. They were like pieces of wood that lay there, lifeless and unfeeling.
None of them moved, even those whose heads were breeding profusely from the fight.
For these men, the music had stopped.
They were defeated by the sudden attack on their consciousness. Even if they had a chance of surviving, it would take them days to fully recover.
After making sure that the assailants were no longer a threat, father and son rushed over to Yao Tang’s side.
“Are you all right, Tangtang?” President Tan asked as he anxiously looked her up and down. “Are you hurt anywhere? We should get you checked at the hospital!”
He sighed in relief when he saw no sign of injury on her body.
He refrained from asking anything about her spiritual powers.
This wasn’t the right time or place for such inquiries. His priority was Yao Tang’s safety.
“I’m fine. How about you guys?”
Yao Tang was still nonchalant as ever, as though she hadn’t just inflicted torture on those poor men’s souls.
She deftly put away the dagger in her hand.
Tan Jian, on the other hand, huffed and stared down at the wounds and bruises on his arms and legs.
He felt somewhat aggrieved.
“Dad, why didn’t you ask if I’m okay?” he whined. “Look, my arm was cut, and it’s still bleeding!”
Was he really the man’s biological son or not?
How come President Tan didn’t express any concern for him at all?
If it weren’t for the fact that they closely resembled each other, Tan Jian would have his doubts, too.
President Tan clicked his tongue. “How can you even compare to your Junior Sister?”
He made a shooing motion with his hand and waved Tan Jian away.
“Go! Go and find someone to treat your wounds. Hurry before you bleed yourself to death.”
With so many bizarre things happening one after another, he had no time to bother with his unlucky son.
