828 Share the Room
In Meng Ling’s eyes, the other teenage girls appeared unruly. She would be embarrassed to even speak to them, let alone be acquainted with them.
Yao Ran nodded lightly. “We attend the same school. That girl over there is my cousin.”
Qin Man glared at her at that, thinking that Yao Ran shouldn’t have gotten involved with the issue.
This had nothing to do with the Yao family, anyway.
If an altercation ensued here, it might only tarnish their relationship with the Meng family.
And if that happened, she might ruin her chances of getting her foot treated.
Feeling Qin Man’s eyes on her, Yao Ran lowered her head and said nothing else.
At the same time, Qin Jing was also studying Yao Ran’s party and immediately noticed an unfamiliar face. This girl looked decidedly more approachable than the haughty lady beside her.
Qin Jing sidestepped the waiter and stared at Meng Ling with sincerity. “Hello, may I ask when you booked the room? You see, we’ve already reserved it beforehand. If you happened to have booked it first, then we won’t bother you any further.”
The gasped audibly at Qin Jing’s straightforwardness, but his shock soon gave way to panic.
In truth, the girls’ reservation had indeed gone through, but after receiving a call from Madam Meng, the man had taken the initiative to tweak the records accordingly.
He couldn’t let the young lady answer that question, or he would be exposed.
“You brazen girl!” the waiter barked at Qin Jing. “Don’t you have any scruples at all? How dare you question Madam Meng and the Young Miss? I kept warning you, but you just refuse to listen! Security! Security, someone is causing trouble over here!”
He then turned and bowed repeatedly to Meng Ling. “I am so sorry, Young Miss. This will be taken care of shortly. Please wait a moment.”
The waiter whirled around to yell for security again.
Meng Ling frowned and looked back and forth between the man and Qin Jing. She had a nagging feeling that there was more to the story than what was shown on the surface.
This other girl didn’t seem to be ill-mannered, either.
Perhaps something else was going on here, something that she and her mother weren’t aware of.
“We booked the room at five this afternoon,” Meng Ling replied gently. “Is there a problem with that?”
As soon as she said this, the waiter froze, the color draining from his face.
It was over for him now.
“Great! Just great! So, it’s really you and the rest of the staff here that’s up to no good!” Qin Jing shouted angrily at the man.
“We booked the private room much earlier in the day. I even posted it on my WeChat moments. Here, you can look for yourself. You actually offered our room to someone else, huh? Are you looking down on me simply because I’m young?”
No wonder he kept urging them to leave. He wanted to cover up his misdeed and the fact that he had violated the establishment’s policies.
Qin Jing had taken out her phone during her tirade and was now opening the booking records Qin Rui had sent her.
The waiter was trembling with fright. He looked like he was about to pass out from the guilt.
Madam Meng took note of his reaction and understood what had happened.
It turned out that these girls had indeed made the reservation first.
To everyone’s surprise, the waiter managed to compose himself. He must be really thick-skinned, because he proceeded to say, “In any case, the private room belongs to this lady now. There is no way you can dine here tonight, no matter how much ruckus you kick up.”
Qin Jing was furious.
Yao Ran tried not to smirk at the scene before her. She bit her lip and said, “Let’s not be cruel to each other. Since we’re friends, anyway, why don’t we share the room? It must be fate that the mix-up happened to us!”
Hearing this proposition, the waiter was a little tempted to go along with it.
If both parties agreed to share the room for one meal, then she wouldn’t be punished for what she had done. Her fat tip would still be on the table, too.
Yes, this was the best option for everyone.
Meng Ling glanced around and saw a bunch of other people behind Qin Jing.
It seemed that they were all here for dinner, but she didn’t know any of them.
Ever since her injury, Meng Ling had been wary of meeting new people. Needless to say, she wasn’t keen on the idea of eating with strangers.
She didn’t even want to go out to eat in the first place, but Yao Ran had insisted on coming to the Chunlai Hotel. Her mother had only agreed on account of Yao Ran being their experimental lab rat for Meng Ling’s prospective medicine.
And now, they had to dine with a group of strangers?
Meng Ling was unhappy. She looked up at her mother, tears of grievance pooling in her eyes.
She didn’t want to eat with these people.
When Madam Meng saw her daughter’s expression, her heart ached.
These troublesome girls were getting on her nerves. Why couldn’t they just let a single meal go?
