Tanaga was beside Ashley and quickly motioned not to tell her the truth. It was fortunate that the salesperson was looking at Tanaga, and he understood the meaning. The salesperson immediately thought of what believable thing he could say.
"Ma'am, the total weight of diamond around is only one carat while the one in the center is only two carats. It just looks big since smaller pieces of diamond surround it," the salesperson explained to Ashley, and she believed it.
"Is that so? It's too shiny, and it doesn't look real because of its size… I would be too scared to wear it in public," said Ashley, as she raised her hand to examine the ring on her finger.
"Sir, would you like to try the matching wedding band to see how it looks with the two of you?" the salesperson asked while handing the ring to Tanaga.
At first, Ashley thought that Tanaga would not accept it. However, to her surprise, Tanaga quickly grabbed the ring and gave it to her. He spread his fingers out so that Ashley could insert the ring into his finger.
Ashley wasted no time and accepted the ring before inserting it into her husband's finger.
With a beautiful smile plastered on her face, her eyes shone in delight. "Wow! It looks pretty on your finger, Tan. It suits you very well." Then she put his hand next to hers so that the salesperson could see.
The salesperson had a wide grin when he saw the happy faces of the couple, showing that they indeed did like the matching wedding bands. "So, what do you think, sir, madam? Should I wrap it up for you, or would you like to go ahead and wear it?" the salesperson asked excitedly to the couple.
Tanaga acted like he was thinking. "Hmmm? I do not know…" He just wanted to see the reaction of his wife in case she did not like it. He saw that she frowned and lost her beautiful smile. A worried look replaced her countenance.
"How about you, love? What do you think? Do you want it, or is there any other thing you want? If you do not want this one, we can go look for others. Whatever you want is fine with me," cooed Tanaga while grabbing his wife's two cheeks to give her a deep, sweet kiss on her lips.
His action made Ashley smile, yet she was also embarrassed as the salesperson saw them kissing. "Tan!" She pinched her husband on the side. "There are other people here, Tan! Be nice," Ashley complained as her cheeks reddened and avoided the salesperson's gaze.
The salesperson laughed. "It's okay! There is nothing to be embarrassed about a loving husband," uttered the salesperson, doing his best to sweet talk them so they wouldn't change their mind.
"So, love – should we buy it?" asked Tanaga, while the salesperson held his breath, eager to hear her reply. Ashley didn't answer right away, as she was thinking deeply. They made the salesperson worry that he might lose the big sale that he was about to obtain.
He needed to think and act quickly. "Ma'am, sir… wait a minute! Why don't I call my General Manager, and maybe he can help you decide?" suggested the salesperson, as he pressed the small button on his chest to begin speaking.
"Sir, I have a VIP here urgently needing your assistance," he practically whispered, while his hands covered his mouth, hoping that the couple would not hear the conversation.
A few moments later, a middle-aged man appeared out of nowhere. He had a wide grin, reaching his ears, as he walked towards the couple. Before he was even near them, he already greeted the couple.
"Hello! Hello and welcome! I am the General Manager of this store. What can I help you with to continue this transaction?" greeted the Manager but questioning the couple at the same time.
"Let me see what piece you have taken a liking to," declared the Manager while his palm was wide open. He was waiting for Ashley to show him the ring.
Tanaga's face had become sour at the scene, since he was jealous that the Manager wanted to hold his wife's hand. He quickly showed the ring on his finger to prevent the Manager from touching his wife's hand.
"Here! You can take a look at this," he interrupted, holding Ashley's hand to stop her from showing it to the Manager.
"Hmm, this is a unique creation and it is one of a kind. Nobody else has this type of design… I'll tell you what – I will throw in a matching bracelet, necklace, and earrings as a bonus for your wife, if you buy these matching wedding rings. Would you like to see the whole set?" asked the Manager excitedly, but this time he was eyeing Tanaga.
The Manager noticed that the husband was jealous, and it looked like his whole face was covered in love for his wife. He took this as his chance to sell the husband the whole collection.
If the couple were to decide to purchase the entire collection, he and the salesperson would receive a huge commission.
Since they had not yet talked about the price, he could still add in the cost of the bracelet, necklace, and the earring to the total cost of the set; he made it sound like it was free.
That is where he made a mistake because the person he was speaking with was a pure businessman. When it came to business dealings, Tanaga was one of the best.
"Your offer is tempting. However, we have not yet decided if we want to buy this ring, yet you want us to buy the whole set. Hahaha! I like how you make your deal!" Tanaga exclaimed aggressively to the Manager.
Hearing what Tanaga said, the salesperson had begun to worry that the couple might change their mind and not even purchase the wedding ring.
The Manager was about to say something when he was interrupted by a sudden buzz. It was Tanaga's cellphone.
"Excuse me for a moment. Hold your thought – I need to take this call," proclaimed Tanaga as he swiped his finger on the screen to press the speaker right in front of the Manager. Having done that, the salesperson and the Manager heard the person on the other side of the line.
"CEO Jones, it's Sato! The guard kept refusing us entry, what should we do?" Tanaga turned his attention to the Manager with a raised brow. He didn't even have to utter a word; the Manager immediately did what Tanaga was about to command him to do.
"Oh, I apologize! But it's the store policy that only one customer can be let in at a time. I suppose since he is your companion, I shall inform the guard to let him in," stated the Manager apologetically before quickly calling the guards to let the people outside enter.
