Chapter 286 - President Koji Hanada

Before Koji became the president of the company, he happened to have a conference call with Grandma Hanada and Jeff. That was where he discovered what really happened to the company and Tanaga, and his father's involvement. 

That had been the reason for Koji to reject the position, and he wanted to resign as COO of the THJ Group. He felt belittled and ashamed when he discovered that his father ordered him to kill Tanaga and Grandma Hanada. 

But Grandma Hanada disagreed with what Koji wanted to happen. As he was the only one she could depend on the most, she still was not sure what would happen to Tanaga. 

Grandma Hanada thought of a way to change Koji's mind to accept the position of President of the company. Grandma Hanada told the secret of their family – the secret that Koji's father was adopted. 

That way, Grandma Hanada could take everything Koji's family had and put his father behind bars forever. 

But if Koji could promise and sign a contract which stated that he wouldn't have desires like his father, Grandma Hanada would forgive the former president, and no one would know what happened. 

No one would know their secret, and his father would be free and retire somewhere quiet far away. 

Koji agreed with Grandma Hanada's condition as he wished to let his father stay behind bars to learn from his mistakes. He wouldn't believe that his father would change, and he was afraid that he might threaten Tanaga and Grandma Hanada's life. 

But Grandma Hanada disagreed with that because it would be embarrassing for the family. She also shouldn't tell this to a crowd as it would destroy the reputation of the THJ group. 

Instead, Jeff proposed that he should be locked up, and if by any chance he shows regret and learns from his mistakes, he would be free to be with his family. That's if his family still accepts him. 

When Jeff left the conference call – leaving Grandma Hanada and Koji alone – Koji made a request. He wished that Ashley could be his assistant while Tanaga was still recovering. 

Grandma Hanada rejected his request. She said it would be better if they let her spend time with her family in the Philippines while Tanaga recovers. When Tanaga would be in a stable condition, Ashley could come back to help take care of Tanaga. 

Koji had no choice but to accept the decision made by the Chairwoman. He had no right to object because he had many debts to pay to the Hanada and Jones family.

Six months had passed since the time Koji became President of the THJ group. He was so busy that he even had a hard time breathing because of the tons of work he needed to fix. That was the result of his father's mess, back when he was still the President of the company. 

In a press conference released by the PR department, it was revealed that President Hanada retired and the one who replaced him was his oldest son, Koji Hanada. That's why within just a few days, President Hanada had become old news. 

After six months since he had replaced his father, all the mess his father made had already been fixed so he could finally relax after a long time. 

While standing in front of the window in deep thought, the office phone suddenly rang. He answered it immediately as he was waiting for a report from his investigator to find Ashley.

He came back to the Philippines many times to know what was happening to Ashley, now that Tanaga was recovering with Grandma Hanada in America. Even though Grandma Hanada disagreed with his request, she didn't say that he couldn't meet Ashley. 

But since Arman didn't say anything about the whereabouts of his sister, Koji decided to hire an investigator to track where Ashley was. 

"Hello, President Hanada – good news! I found the lady you're looking for," the investigator said gracefully, knowing that he was going to have a massive bonus just like Koji had promised.

Koji's face lit up when he heard what his investigator just said. His heart beat quickened as he couldn't wait to hear what he was going to say. 

"Is that so? Where is she and what is she doing right now?" Koji excitedly asked while thinking of planning to prepare to fly where Ashley was.

The investigator started to explain how he spotted Ashley and where she was currently located.

"The truth is, I'm here at the Houston Women's Memorial Hospital, where the lady is staying," he declared, without saying why Ashley was there. 

"What? Give me the address of that hospital right now!" Koji shouted. Because of his excitement, he forgot to ask why Ashley was in the hospital. 

After Koji received the address of the hospital, he finished the call. "Okay! If your information is correct, I'll give you a large reward when we meet. Goodbye!" 

He hung up and called his secretary to book a flight to America. 

"Sir Hanada, don't you want to prepare the private plane of the THJ Group? Would you still choose the commercial flight?" his secretary asked curiously why he would book a flight. 

"I'll prefer a commercial flight. This is personal and not a business trip. It's not practical for me to use the company's private plane," Koji answered while preparing his luggage. 

"If that's the case, then I'll book a flight right now." The secretary hung up and did what Koji ordered. 

After Koji packed all he needed, he hastily left his office as though he was being chased by death itself. 

He stopped at his secretary's desk, who had already finished booking a flight and printing the boarding pass. 

"It's prepared, sir. Here is your boarding pass. Your driver is already waiting on the ground floor." 

Koji accepted it. "Thank you! You'll know what you're gonna say if someone finds me." Then he left, grinning from ear to ear. 

About thirty minutes later, Koji was already in the air. He was so excited because after twenty-four hours he was going to see the woman his heart was beating for.
