The White Creature And The Scripture of Bai (2)
“No,” the furry, white creature said firmly.
Bai Ye tugged the creature from her head. “Who then?”
The creature chewed on the remnants of the bun and licked the sides of its mouth before replying, “I don’t know. The old man sealed me in before it happened...”
Bai Ye squinted her eyes at the white creature.
Her gaze made the creature uncomfortable and its claws scratched softly against her palm. “I really don’t know. The old man didn’t allow me to see...”
“Then how do you know it’s not the Qing family?” Bai Ye asked suspiciously.
Realizing it fell into Bai Ye’s trap, the little creature puffed its body up.
The previous Bai Ye had no clue as to how Bai Zhan died. When Bai Ye crawled out of the old man’s coffin, she knew her grandfather was attacked from all sides!
Although he did not exhibit any obvious external injuries, she sensed he had multiple fractures and ruptured vessels in his body. Internal injuries such as these could be associated with the use of ultrasonic weapons.
However, ultrasonic weapons did not exist in this world. Bai Ye could imagine a group of strong individuals launching an ambush attack on her grandfather.
The only people who were capable of such an attack was the Qing family. Perhaps the mysterious man she met in the forest would be able to stand against Bai Zhan too.
At that thought, Bai Ye grabbed the little creature to hold it in place. “Was it the man from today?”
“It’s not him but that man is bad news! Little Ye, we should run away the next time he shows up. He will devour you!” the creature lectured in its high-pitched voice, hoping to scar Bai Ye.
It was not him.
Bai Ye sighed in relief. She had a feeling the mysterious man was stronger than the Qing family. There were nuances in his speech that hinted he was related to royalty.
She realized her fear of the mysterious man stemmed from the little creature inside her. “Why are you so afraid of him?”
