Name:The Cherished Old Time Author:
Yu Meng was almost tricked by Tan Yubai's gentle voice. She thought that Tan Yubai would say something nice, but in the end, he just mocked her in a disguised manner.

Tan Yubai groaned in pain, but held Yu Meng even tighter.

She closed her eyes and, lusting after this warmth, lightly nodded her head.

Tan Yubai sighed, "Xiao Meng..."

Yu Meng interrupted him nervously, "I remember the things from the past."

Tan Yubai was slightly taken aback: "You …" In fact, he had already guessed it earlier. If it wasn't for Yu Meng thinking everything through, how could she have ignored the dangers and come to the Sri Lanka again?

Complicated emotions swirled in his heart, and then, Tan Yubai sighed helplessly.

He said nothing, just kissed her forehead.

The pain was extreme.

"It's all in the past now." "I understand," Yu Meng said, wanting to tell Tan Yubai that he was alright.

She looked at him with sparkling eyes. "At that time, you could have hidden me in the communication station and told me to bring me home once Dust landed. But now, you can too. I'll stay with you. After you're done with your things, we'll go home together, okay?"

As she spoke, she stood up and pulled at the corner of the man's clothes, begging pitifully.

"I thought I could protect you." Tan Yubai said, then suddenly raised his head to look outside the window with a complicated expression on his face.

He quickly became the youngest officer in the army and became invincible in a one on one fight. His spear skills were one or two of the best in the world, and even in the entire world, there were very few people who could be his match. He had almost become the legend of an era, an unshakable symbol of war.

Thus, he felt that if he wanted to protect a woman well, he would definitely be able to protect her well.

However, the scene of Tan Yubai tormenting himself for so many years was precisely the scene of him personally seeing his beloved girl being pressed down in a pile of ruins, lonely and desperate.

"You can protect me now too." Yu Meng anxiously climbed onto Tan Yubai's body.

Tan Yubai wrapped his arm around Yu Meng's slender waist and looked at her. He smiled bitterly: "I've already protected you with all my might, but I still injured you."

Yu Meng knew that she couldn't talk back to Tan Yubai, but she had always been good at being shameless.

"I don't care." She climbed up Tan Yubai's arms and rubbed her head against his neck: "If you can't chase me away, if you knock me out and leave me on the plane back home, then I'll buy a flight and you'll fly back!"

"In short, there is no reason for me to leave you!"

Tan Yubai hugged Yu Meng, a bitter taste in his throat.

"Big White …" After playing shameless, Yu Meng returned to being a pitiful little girl: "I've already lost my mother here, I can't lose you again."

With that said, Tan Yubai had nothing to do.

She moved out Aunt Wen Mei, so no matter what Tan Yubai said, it would all be useless.

It was easy to get tired from thinking about it, at least for this moment they would depend on each other to be happy and happy. Tan Yubai embraced Yu Meng as he thought to himself, in this kind of place, he lived as if he was a walking corpse, yet he refused to give up his life.

Holding her was like holding the whole world.

Suddenly. A deafening explosion broke all the warmth and silence in the room.

Yu Meng was so scared that her entire body shrank into a ball as she scuttled into Tan Yubai's embrace. The sound of the explosion continued, and Tan Yubai carried Yu Meng and quickly looked outside the window.

The citizens screamed as they fled. Armored locomotives rolled by, and a helicopter flew through the sky. The gunfire from all directions had caused countless lives to be taken.

Whether it was on the locomotive or the plane, the flags fluttering in the wind were all black square cloth with terrifying tiger heads printed on them.

The tiger opened its bloody mouth as if it had eaten a human.

"It's the LTTE." Tan Yubai said in a low voice, his voice reaching Yu Meng's ears, scaring her even more.

It was that group of crazy fellows again …

Tan Yubai carried Yu Meng and casually took out a sheet to cover her head.

"Don't move."

carried her as she ran. Sometimes she sprinted, sometimes she stopped to hide and other times she sped up. She could clearly feel that the man's heart was beating faster and faster, almost to the point of jumping out of her chest.

She was shaken until she fell to the ground, extending her hand to try and hold Tan Yubai's waist, but before her hands could even touch Tan Yubai, who was leaning on the wall, gasping for breath, she was grabbed by him.

Half of his body was pressed against the wall. Only then did he free his hand, grab Yu Meng's wrist, and push her back into his arms.

"Do not reveal anything."

Yu Meng held her hand, feeling that the wrist that Tan Yubai had grabbed was sticky.

She looked over, in the dim light of the cloth covering her head, the tinge of scarlet was particularly glaring.

Yu Meng gaped, tears streaming down her face.

She used her blood-stained hands to cover her mouth, preventing herself from screaming out loud. Her heart felt as though a knife was being twisted, and her hand was holding onto Tan Yubai's blood, yet was unable to stop him to rest.

If they rested for even a second, their fates would be different.

A few gunshots rang out, close to her ears. Yu Meng clenched her hands tightly onto the clothes covering Tan Yubai's chest.

"I'm fine." Tan Yubai seemed to have sensed Yu Meng's nervousness. He leaned his face against the cloth that was covering Yu Meng's head and panted heavily as he spoke, "Someone's coming to save us."

As she spoke, she felt as if she had gotten into a car. The heavy smell of gasoline made her cough non-stop, and she heard the sound of the door closing.

He subconsciously panicked and was just about to shout out "talk..." in a trembling voice.

The next second, he was hugged by thick shoulders.

"I'm here."

These two words seemed to carry a power that could pierce through the clouds, instantly destroying all of Yu Meng's despair.

She lay with her head in his arms, frantically ripping the cloth off her head as the car lurched forward.

Tan Yubai's tired-looking face was right in front of him.

Yu Meng's heart skipped a beat.

Tan Yubai's face was ashen, there was blood on his forehead, and he leaned his back against the chair, his chest heaving violently.

He seemed to be in excruciating pain, enduring it with all his might.

"There's a medical kit in the back. Bring it over and bandage it."

The voice came from the front row, causing Yu Meng to raise her head. It was a seven-seater van, with the exception of Tan Yubai and her, there was only a female driver in the front row.

Looking through the mirror, her face was grave and fierce.

It was she who had saved them.

"If you keep dawdling, Tan Yubai will bleed to death."

She panicked and struggled out of Tan Yubai's embrace, reaching to take out the medical kit from the back row. When her eyes fell on Tan Yubai, she saw that his other arm was injured by the bomb shrapnel, and half a hand big enough to be embedded into his flesh. The bullet had almost broken his flesh, revealing his white bones.

The blood was still flowing, but Yu Meng didn't know what to do with the medical kit.

At this moment, she almost hated herself to death.

"It's nothing. I'll use the medicine to clean up the wound and then use the gauze to stop the bleeding."

Tan Yubai's weak voice came from above his head. He was extremely weak and just needed to say a few words to stop and take a breath. However, he didn't forget to comfort Yu Meng.

"But …" Yu Meng said with a trembling voice, "The shrapnel is in the meat, don't you want to …"

"You don't need to take that." The woman who was driving spoke up. She spoke quickly, calmly, without the slightest hint of panic.

"You just need to help him stop the bleeding. I'll help him with the shrapnel when we get out of the car."

Yu Meng's body froze as she looked at Tan Yubai's bloodied and mangled arm, her head buzzing. The hand holding the tweezers could not even hold the cotton swab steadily.

The medicine was placed on his wound, and the excruciating pain caused Tan Yubai to tremble uncontrollably. His lips let out a muffled groan, but if the gunfire beside his ear were to explode, it would shatter the calmness that he had painstakingly accumulated.

"It's so ugly."

Tan Yubai reached out his good arm and used the back of his hand to touch Yu Meng's cheek with difficulty.

Yu Meng raised her head with tears in her eyes and met his gentle gaze.

He wiped her tears.

He took the cotton ball from Yu Meng's hand.

"I'll do it myself."

"No!" Yu Mengmeng didn't even think before snatching the tools back. She wiped her tears away with her sleeve, sniffled with all her might, and said confidently, "I can."

If Yu Meng said she could, she could.

She carefully helped Tan Yubai clean his wounds, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead as she raised her head to look at him.

The car made a sudden sharp turn and Yu Meng was slammed against the door.

She looked at Tan Yubai in her arms, who she was protecting, and heaved a sigh of relief.

When the car stopped, the strange woman got out and helped Yu Meng open the door. She then helped Yu Meng out of the car.

Then, he stuck his waist in as he looked at Tan Yubai.

He seemed to be thinking about something.

Very quickly, the woman moved. She bent down and quickly carried the unconscious Tan Yubai on her shoulder.

This movement was so fast that before Yu Meng could even react, the woman had already reached the door of the room.

The woman stopped walking and turned to Yu Meng impatiently, "What are you waiting for? Go upstairs."

Yu Meng nodded and followed her with small steps.

She didn't know why she was so obedient when facing this woman. She didn't even have the slightest temper when she shouted at her.

Yu Meng followed the woman up the stairs. When she walked, the ceiling would drop ash. It was obvious that this was an abandoned residential building. After a long period of bombing, the building was no longer stable and could collapse at any moment. That's why it was so empty, so crappy.

On the third floor, the woman opened the door on the left.

Although it couldn't be called a residence, it was still much better than a broken temple, sleeping on the streets, or sleeping in an old factory.

At least, there were beds, windows, tables, cabinets, and chairs.
