The game wore on, and Lompak found himself increasingly pushed to the wall. Ella's pieces stormed like a tsunami, her rooks and queen inextricably knitting a net around his king. His resistance was nice, earning high remarks on his moves and perseverance, but the first cracks began to appear.

"Check," Ella said, the queen sliding to h5, her tone matter-of-fact yet with an unmistakable hint of triumph.

Lompak moved his king to f8, narrowly escaping immediate disaster. His mana flared erratically as he tried to hold his crumbling position together.

Ella was relentless. She moved one of her pawns forward to g6, putting pressure on him. "Checkmate is unavoidable, Lompak," she said, her voice was not kind, and moreover firm

too.

Lompak was grinding his teeth. He pushed his rook to e8, trying a last desperate counterattack. For a moment, the audience felt he could still claw his way back.

But Ella was ready. With a flick of her wrist, she manoeuvred her rook to f7, locking in his king. "Check," she announced, her voice ringing like a bell.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Lompak stared at the board, his mind reeling. There was no way out. His king was caught, walled in by an impenetrable fortress of white pieces. After a moment of silence, he exhaled deeply and nodded. "I concede," he said, his voice low and even. A patter of applause filled the room, the spectators were in awe of the genius of the game.

Ella smiled graciously and said, "You played well, Lompak, but strategy and precision win in the end."

As the pieces fell back into their initial positions with a flicker of magic, Lompak got up and extended his hand. Ella took it, her handshake firm but hidden within it cruel. Amid all that he had lost, in his eyes was regard-and perhaps something more, a flicker of determination and perhaps a growing interest truly for the woman in front of him.

"That was impressive," he said. "You certainly are a master."

Ella cocked her head, the hardening of her expression told it all. "And you, a worthy opponent. Maybe next time, you will surprise me."

Though her words held no truth about what she was thinking on the inside, the scene that was prepared to humiliate the whole of this faction was now fully in shambles, and things were only getting started.

Soon, I passed through that area and came upon the much more private area for higher- ranked members, even they watching me in awe and daze as I passed through. The location was quite busy, with some of them moving around here and there, dealing with things related to the faction. Soon, I walked through into a more private training area, and along with it came the sounds of a fight.

I easily passed through the security setting, not to disturb, as I came upon the scene of Mika and Rika fighting, the two of them going at it, fighting some illusion-made enemies. The two of their fighting styles were beautiful and compatible, the two of them together being an undefeatable force that can't be stopped.

The world itself seemed to move to the command of Rika as water-like waves were generated, destroying the beasts, and Mika seemed to move in flow with the water, her weapon in her hand, slaying the beasts that escaped the small wave. The two of them complimented each other as they fought.

Rika's white hair floated beautifully within the wave, her kind and gentle expression much more focused as she waved her hand, the water compressing into bullets as it blasted through the enemies. Along with it, Mika waved her sword, her black hair tied to a ponytail flashing behind her back, creating a wave effect that boosted the water bullets, pushing them forth together.

The illusion now twisted a giant fire serpent, and its full gang showed up, their heat illusion bringing it down for the two of the girls. With a single nod, their bodies flashed, soon the hair colours of the two mixing around, with spots of white and black being the mix, a small light shining forth from the bodies of the two as they flashed.

At the current moment, a change took place. Right now, the two of them were one and yet the same, their bodies flashing with power and also passing through them, being the use of their talents, experiences, and a pass in their own professions!

Two shining water-like swords appeared in the hands of Rika, water bullets sharper and rotating like the flow of water appeared behind Mika with her control. Mika's hold on her weapon got tighter as she flashed, the two of them running up to the crowd and starting the fight. The water sword from Rika's hands flashed, cutting the heat of the lizard, a mark of the precision of a knight within her touch as she did so.

Mika's body flashed, the bottom of her soles being filled with the pieces of water, reducing the friction and providing her with a faster way to move as she attacked, her sword flashing as Mika slayed one of the huge lizards in two. The water bullets behind her flashed to provide cover from the attack of a lizard in her blind spot.

The two of them then just jumped into the battle, moving around like a dance, using each other's power and boosting each other's strength, covering over each other as they fought, their minds seemingly in sync as one attack to Mika was covered by Rika and another attack to

Rika was covered by Mika.

Within seconds, the battle had ended, my gaze focused on the two who were huffing and puffing, the light receding away from them as their original appearance came to be, a small

pout on the faces of the two as Rika spoke.

"Looks like we can't still extend the time too much beyond this even now."

"Yes, but even then this is still amazing," Mika countered as she held her hands together, feeling the power that was lost from her just now.
