Chapter 2

Yu Qingxian watched as the zombies chasing the car were shot in the head by the people inside the car. He reached out and gently touched her head.

Although he was just spectating, Yu Qingxian didn't approach them.

He maintained a safe distance.

Inside the car, there were only three people and a dog.

As the vines retracted, the passenger door opened, and a dog jumped out.

Soon after, a young woman emerged from the driver's seat.

The woman appeared to be in her early twenties, about six or seven years younger than Yu Qingxian.

And judging by her appearance, she was both beautiful and cool.

This suddenly reminded Yu Qingxian of the female protagonists in the post-apocalyptic novels he had read.

---

Yu Qingxian stayed leaning against the wall, watching those people enter a supermarket.

The zombies were separated from them by the rolling shutter door.

They could only watch as delicious food entered the supermarket.

The zombies clung to the door, muttering curses.

Although humans couldn't understand what these zombies were saying, Yu Qingxian, as a zombie himself, could understand them.

However, Yu Qingxian had no intention of translating for the humans.

Since there were humans in this place, it wasn't suitable for her to stay here all the time.

After all, she had already turned into a zombie and didn't need to eat anything.

Although she didn't know if she would starve to death, she had no desire for human flesh.

After about two hours, the three people and the dog came out again.

The zombies at the entrance had dispersed.

But upon hearing the sound, they gathered again.

Yu Qingxian watched as the three people put some things into the car and then drove away.

After Yu Qingxian made sure that those people had left and wouldn't come back, she leisurely made her way to the supermarket.

She rarely went shopping in supermarkets before.

But Yu Qingxian had to admit that takeout was indeed a great invention before the apocalypse.

The easiest way to get what you needed.

But walking so openly on the streets and in the supermarket was the first time she had done so in these three years.

Since she was little, she had been afraid of people. Apart from going out with her parents, she rarely left the house.

Yu Qingxian ignored them and headed towards the elevator. She pressed the button several times, but there was no response. She then remembered that the power had gone out last night.

So Yu Qingxian decided to take the stairs.

There were zombies in the stairwell, and she could even see corpses that had fallen down the stairs and died. However, these people hadn't turned into zombies, as their bodies had long since decomposed.

But Yu Qingxian was used to such sights. She calmly continued walking upstairs.

Since there was no elevator, she didn't want to climb up, so she directly found a room on the second floor to rest in.

The room was empty, with the door left open.

Yu Qingxian couldn't open closed doors, so she walked into one that looked decent.

So tonight, she planned to stay again.

Originally, Yu Qingxian thought that on her first night out in the apocalypse, it would be quiet.

But she was mistaken.

Just as she was sleeping soundly, a loud explosion startled her awake. She looked out the window and saw smoke rising from a building several hundred meters away.

At a time like this, the only thing that could cause an explosion in a residential building was likely human action.

In other words, there were humans around her.

This made Yu Qingxian somewhat puzzled.

Why was there always humans around her?

However, she didn't really hate humans to the point of wanting them all to perish.

After all, others had the right to live as well.

If she were human, she would naturally worry about zombies, various zombie animals, and even dealing with human nature.

But she was a zombie, so she didn't need to worry about zombies and zombie animals. As long as she stayed away from humans, she could avoid a series of troubles.

Yu Qingxian leaned against the window, looked at the residential building in the distance, made sure there would be no more explosions, and climbed back into bed to sleep.

But less than half an hour later, Yu Qingxian heard the sound of a car approaching from a distance.

Indeed, the hearing of these zombies was remarkable. Before she even caught sight of the vehicle, she heard the sound of a car.

For Yu Qingxian, this was actually a good thing as it allowed her to avoid coming face to face with humans.

However, now she felt that her own safety might be at risk.

Because it seemed like the vehicle had stopped right beneath the hotel where she resided.

Then she heard voices.

"Let's stay here tonight. There aren't many zombies around this area, and this hotel looks nice. Plus, it's on the outskirts of the city. We'll rest here tonight and leave in the morning." It was a man's voice, and he sounded quite young.

"Okay," replied a girl.

It seemed that she was the one in charge of the whole group.

So, after the girl's agreement, these people were ready to settle in this hotel.
