Chapter 53

Shang Yu's lips curved into a slight smile: "Do you want me to buy a house and keep you confined?"

Pei Liechuan picked up the phone nearby: "This house was left by the person closest to me. She once lived here, and only by being here can I feel like she's still alive."

Shang Yu pondered for a moment and sat on his lap: "Your mother?"

"No." Pei Liechuan gazed at the photo on the table in the distance: "My grandmother."

Shang Yu looked over too. She pursed her thin lips; the woman in the photo looked kind and gentle.

She leaned against his shoulder: "Separation and death are normal for humans. She must have hoped for you to live happily in the future."

Pei Liechuan didn't say anything. He didn't know what his grandmother had wanted.

But taking over everything from the Pei family wasn't what he desired.

Until he was thirteen, he had been studying how to manage the Pei family. After his grandmother left the Pei family, he left with her.

He had chosen a path to protect the family and the nation, everything was new, yet it was his belief.

He rarely accompanied her, and even before she passed away, he hadn't seen her again.

She had only one wish, to regain everything that belonged to him in the Pei family.

His grandfather would naturally hand over ZK to him, but accepting his current situation was not out of fondness.

Pei Liechuan held her waist, letting her play around in front of him.

He understood that feeling now, when you think you have nothing, yet you find someone who still values you.

Whether it's your blood or your person, it's really just you.

Shang Yu looked at his handsome face: "I'm going back now."

Pei Liechuan's dark eyes fixed on her face, his husky voice said: "I'll walk you out."

"No need, I came by car, and I'd have to walk down the stairs with you."

Shang Yu got off him, chuckling: "Looks like I was quite successful today."

Pei Liechuan picked up two cards from the table, then took out another card, slipping all three into the small pocket of her clothes.

His large hand grabbed the thin blanket and wrapped it around her, tying a knot carefully: "Don't dress like this in the future."

"You don't like it?" Shang Yu reached for the cards, but he caught her hand.

Pei Liechuan stared at her exquisite figure, his voice husky: "I like it, but I don't like you dressing like this for others to see."

He couldn't handle such temptation, at least for now.

Shang Yu looked at her attire and nodded slightly: "Then I'll satisfy your little possessive desire."
