There was silence in the living room, they all turned their heads to the voice and it was Wilfred. He stood there, looking majestic with a smile that reached his eyes.
"How?"
Was all Kiro could utter, while Hiro stood there like he'd just peeked at medusa. They still hadn't decided whether the world was ready to know, or whether the world should even know.
Anybody who wasn't the two looked at Wilfred like he was insane. They had confused expressions, throwing him questioning looks.
"What are you talking about?" Sekani finally managed to ask.
Wilfred didn't answer though, he just looked straight to Kiro, his eyes were insistent. Like he was asking for permission.
For a second it looked like the two were having a conversation with just their minds. Kiro immediately retreated, nodding his head.
"To answer young master Kiro, I have a very deep network, so naturally I know most of the happenings around our country. Though I can't be sure who betrayed you guys, a little birdie told me, Blakeson knows." He explained.
Kiro's face was stoic and calm, while Hiro was the opposite, he was panicking. The last thing they needed right now as a society was a universal threat thrown within their already messy lives.
As calm as Kiro was presenting, he felt exactly how Hiro looked.
"What's he talking about?" Kiyoko and Freya asked almost at the same time, each parent looking at their own child.
Kiro's face contorted. He wasn't ready for them to look at him different. He didn't know how they would react finding out that he was chosen by a god, that no matter what happened — he was at the epicentre — a constant that was necessary to save their world.
Most of all, he didn't know whether they'd treat him the same. He was their son but he also had memories of a life where they'd died. There was a lot going on in his mind.
He felt like there was a rock stuck in his throat. Kiro knew that the society wasn't entirely to blame, but in the case of his parents it was entirely to blame. His father was robbed off his idea by some rich guy, knowing he couldn't take him to court.
If it were a fair world — his father would've had a successful business even in the past.
"You see this man in front you right now?" He continued. "All you, both of you. You've raised us without much and we turned out to be decent people, now we have all the money in the world but that didn't change us. Your teachings will always be more valuable."
Freya chuckled, a bit of snort came out but she didn't care. She hugged her oldest tightly, thanking every god she thought existed. Thanking them for bringing her baby boy back in her arms every time.
She laughed, kissing every inch of him. "How did you get to be so smart?"
"Could you two give us a second?" Sekani finally said, breaking the mother and son bonding. "We just need time to talk about this, most of all a way forward."
"Dad, you don't have to do anything. We can handle it."
"You don't have to shoulder everything all on your own anymore Ki. You may be the constant but you'll need plenty of help." He said, taking this more seriously than Kiro thought any of them would.
He got up from where he was, as he walked towards the door he turned and asked, "who?"
The question was directed at Wilfred. He had only told a handful of people, there must've been a traitor amongst his ranks and he hated it — he hated it with every fibre in his being.
"As I said Master Kiro..."
"I just need the name Wilfred." He wasn't his usual self, Wilfred glimpsed the same danger he'd seen occasionally in his eyes.
"I'll find out."
