End of semester evaluation (1)
When Tanya arrived at Ofilis Hall it was already dark.
The school uniform which she had dressed neatly in the morning was disheveled here and there and her rich beautiful blonde hair was matted with small hairs sticking out.
Tanya trudged into the hallway with bleary eyes handed her coat and luggage to the maid and then walked down the hallway.
“You look very tired.”
The maid spoke with concern.
Tanya looks like she’s going to start screaming and sound like a zombie at any moment... She just shook her head letting her limp body hang down.
“No it’s okay.”
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Ofilis Pavilion in broad daylight.
This is because the daily routine of leaving the dormitory at the crack of dawn and returning late at night was repeated.
It’s rewarding in its own way and the work isn’t terribly difficult.
The looks of respect and envy towards Tanya are also very satisfying. Tanya is basically the type of person with a desire for fame.
However there are still a lot of things that make my head pound.
The biggest concern is the faction of Elte Chamber of Commerce that has been trying to cross the line recently. Not only the student council but also the academic headquarters are showing great concern.
The latest move is to raise the market price by sweeping up books.
It seems to be a simple intention to save a lot when it is cheap and sell it off when it is expensive to make a profit... Considering the financial power of Elte Corporation we can think of further directions.
For example if you stock up on books school supplies stationery and educational magic equipment and do not unpack them... There will be a major disruption to the academic schedule after the start of school. This is because students are forced into a situation where they cannot proceed with class.
Elte Trading Company is already solely responsible for Aken Island’s logistics. If they start using such properties as hostages to exert influence on the academics it will be a headache for the academics.
I wish all of this were just for naught but things don’t always work out the way we want them to.
It would be best if Elte Trading Company maintains its own business ethics and becomes a good business partner for Sylvania Bachelor in the long term.
However in a structure where the balance of power has started to become biased towards one side... Bachelors cannot help but feel anxious at all times.
Then if a certain line is crossed they will try to secure additional logistics distribution channels other than Elte Trading Company.
This is not a very pleasant situation for Elte Trading Company. This is because the monopoly position is shaken.
Head hurts... . My head hurts... .”
Tanya pressed her temples as she stumbled through the luxurious hallways.
In the end the university announced that it plans to establish a preliminary plan in advance to open a new logistics distribution channel.
They say they are planning to put up an announcement in the commercial city of Old Deck but so far this is only circulating internally.
At the academic level it is more stable and convenient to create a variety of distribution channels but from the perspective of Elte Trading Company it does not mean that there is nothing to say.
There is a reason why I have consistently been in charge of Aken Island’s logistics even though I have not much left since my days as a humble bachelor. This is because there was a calculation that the amount invested would be returned in the future.
When Sylvania’s scale became enormous and they were trying to make some profit from their exclusive position they suddenly said they would look for another business partner. If this happens Elte Trading Company has no choice but to raise its voice again.
We need someone in the middle to coordinate things.
A person who understands Tanya and Bachelor’s situation well but is also able to speak out in his own way for Elte Company.
for now... “Let’s go to the room lie down and get some rest.”
Today was also crazy busy. First of all Tanya wanted to rest.
The car was walking down the hallway with the intention of quickly getting into the room.
“... .”
Suddenly I looked to the side and saw that Tanya was not the only person walking unsteadily.
Tanya trembled because she didn’t feel like she was being loved at all.
Well it was worth it. Although he is already quite small in stature compared to an ordinary person his body is filled with all kinds of lightweight magic making him as light as a feather.
The reason why her presence stands out is because she is wearing a witch hat that is as big as her upper body. The hat which is too large for her body is like a symbol of the girl.
“Senior Lu Lucy... ?”
Lucy also trembled. To begin with she was a girl who didn’t really care about her surroundings but as soon as she saw Tanya she started freaking out jerked her body back and clung to her window in the hallway.
Then when I confirmed that the person I was talking to was Tanya I relaxed my body as if I was relieved.
Lucy does not distinguish people based on appearance alone.
The sense of judging a person’s collecting atmosphere behavioral characteristics etc. is sharp. Although he always appears to be a lazy and slow person his senses are keenly aware of the surrounding situation.
At first as soon as I sensed that sign of popularity I thought of someone else not Tanya. This is Ed Rosstaylor.
Not only that fiery blonde hair but the person himself is eerily similar to Ed. Since they are brother and sister born in the same house there is nothing we can do about it.
“Oh hello... .”
Tanya said hello awkwardly. She is a relationship that cannot help but be awkward to begin with.
At the beginning of the semester Lucy got so angry that she tried to catch Tanya and kill her.
After that all misunderstandings were resolved and Ed even dragged Lucy to apologize to Tanya... Still there remained a strange awkwardness that had not yet been resolved.
Although they maintain such a delicate relationship Lucy is the one who occupies the room right next to Tanya.
Since we often run into each other like this it’s just very inconvenient for both of us.
This is not a very pleasant situation for either Lucy or Tanya.
“Uh... .”
Lucy relaxes her body and takes a deep breath. While Tanya was wondering what to say... .
“I was sorry about last time.”
The person who took out the apple first was Lucy. It was a quite refreshing tone.
“I misunderstood.”
“Oh no. You apologized last time. You don’t have to do it again... .”
Tanya was shaking her head and thinking about how to break this delicate and awkward atmosphere.
Then I suddenly noticed that Lucy’s clothes were quite dirty.
“It looks like you took a nap somewhere again. It’s nice to spend time outdoors these days. The weather is nice and there is almost no daily temperature difference... .”
It was truly a personal conversation aimed at continuing the topic. Although it was just a formal remark Lucy listened to him and nodded her head.
“You still visit your brother’s camp often right? “I heard we get along well.”
“I don’t go well these days.”
“Oh uh... ? is it so... ? Why why... ?”
Did you ever fight? Tanya had a hard time imagining things.
Ed who is basically conscientious and Lucy who is basically lazy seem like complete opposites.
Still there is one thing that everyone has in common that anyone can admit and that is that neither of them are very interested in the people around them.
Unless you need to be involved you never try to be friendly to someone else to get closer to them first.
Because of their temperaments Ed and Lucy don’t have very high expectations of each other.
Wouldn’t it just be a relationship between a man who lives in a cabin and manages it and a girl who occasionally visits and takes a nap?
Tanya thought exactly that and was puzzled by Lucy’s slightly awkward reaction.
“After taking a nap somewhere else... a little... “It doesn’t look good.”
“... yes?
I handed the large staff I was holding in my hand to Yenika.
Yes... I’m not feeling very well right now... Because it has improved a lot... .”
Although I made such an uncertain sound when I closed my eyes and concentrated dozens of spirits appeared in an instant.
It’s just amazing to see that even with an imperfect body this is what it looks like.
“Wow... The horsepower efficiency is beyond a good level and you can hardly feel it at all. “It just feels like magic power is naturally flowing through my body.”
“Yenika you may feel that way because you are much more sensitive than me.”
huh... ! Ed: If I use this wand I can increase the power of elemental magic more quickly. It’s really amazing. “This is why you do magic engineering.”
Saying that Yenika held out her wand to me again but I shook my head and did not take it.
huh?
“That’s yours.”
After saying that I washed my hands in the flowing river water.
huh? “It’s mine?”
“I made it for you. “I owe you a lot.”
“Oh no... Thank you... “Just this time you took care of me while I was sick.”
“The reason you got sick in the first place was because you overexerted yourself to help me. “There is no need to refuse like that.”
I patted my hands to get rid of the moisture sat down on the rock again and talked.
“Thank you always.”
Yenika looked up at her staff and her eyes trembled.
“I’m sorry for always just talking.”
“... Still it’s not more efficient for Ed to use this than for me who has some degree of sensitivity to spirits... ?”
“I’m going to make another one of the same thing anyway. So don’t worry too much.”
“A cane like a branch... ! It’s like a set... ! I see... lol... .”
Jenica smiled brightly as if she was imagining something happy and hugged her staff tightly.
When someone likes something this much the giver feels more than proud but also regretful.
“Thanks Ed... I will really use it carefully... .”
Merilda was smiling happily wondering what was so good about it and Jenica was smiling brightly while holding her staff tightly for a while.
It feels worthwhile to receive this level of reaction. That’s what I thought.
“Now it’s the end-of-semester exam. “Ed always got close to perfect scores on his written exams so all he needs to do is take a good look at his practical skills.”
“Yes that’s right. And then it’s vacation.”
“Ed do you have any plans for your vacation?”
well... First I plan to make the camp conditions better. I’m planning to make the warehouse a bit bigger and remodel the cabin a bit. I thought it would be nice to be able to live more spaciously. I also want to grow herbs vegetables or small annual plants and build a fence around the camp... Anyway there are a lot of things I want to do. “It just needs some organizing.”
I see... If you ever have a hard time I will help you. “I live here now so it’s no one else’s business.”
“Okay thank you. “But first taking care of your body’s health comes first.”
I had dinner with Jenica and had such a conversation.
Yenika’s cabin is located in a direction north of the campfire roughly southeast of my cabin. Although they are literally neighbors we share most of the living environment so in a way you can say that we really live together.
And to the southwest of the bonfire... Logs that looked quite good quality were being piled up in layers.
Living alone in a luxurious house can create a sense of discomfort so it seems that they are considerate of us and build it in a similar and simple size as possible. However the quality of the internal facilities and building materials is definitely good.
Jenica puffed out her cheeks for no reason as she watched Lortel’s house going up.
― ‘Suddenly living here can be a burden so I brought my own conditions. While I’m here Ms. Belle the most skilled maid in Ofilis Hall will visit me periodically to manage all the camp’s facilities. It must have been very difficult for Ed to manage it alone so it’s not bad to think that she has one more person with excellent work skills right?
surely... It’s an offer that’s hard to refuse.
There is no particular inconvenience to me about Lortel coming to live here. In the first place she pays most of her expenses with her own money so she has no business opening her hands to me.
Rather if Belle Maia whom she hired helps maintain the camp I can focus more on external activities and training activities.
I don’t feel very happy because I feel like she’s making me look after her for no reason but it still gives me the impression that she’s willing to serve with a happy heart.
Especially this time while taking care of Yenika I realized how hard I was working on housework... She also seemed happy about something. Well I had a contract with Lortel and they said I would get all the money so it wasn’t something I had to worry about.
I deboned the grilled fish put a piece in my mouth and handed it to Yenika.
Yenica who was cutting fruit took a bite of grilled fish and smiled with satisfaction.
Feeling somewhat peaceful I looked up at the sky as is my habit.
It is a surprising fact to say now that the night sky of Aken Island is always beautiful.
* * *
“Professor Kalide the final exam is in 3 days... ! I need to create evaluation items for the practical test and submit them... ! No actually the submission deadline has already passed... ! It’s an additional deadline that was forcibly extended... !”
Assistant Professor Claire appealed with tears in her eyes in Professor Kallade’s private laboratory.
Kaleid Roxter a veteran wizard who is Professor Glast’s long-time friend and is skilled in various elemental magic.
He was originally a wizard who had given up his professorship and was living a wandering life in the lawless area of Cohelton but this time he was a middle-aged man who was finally persuaded by the academics to bring him in to fill the vacancy that had arisen.
His head is messy his beard is bushy and his eyes are wide. He looks more like a beggar than a professor.
Although his magic skills were good enough to be considered a worthy rival of Professor Glast his natural temperament was the complete opposite of Professor Glast’s.
When you enter the lab the smell of rolled tobacco fills the air. Unless you open the window to ventilate thick smoke fills the room.
A bottle of alcohol was rolling around in the corner of the desk and the person was sleeping with his head down and snoring.
Although he is strict he is the complete opposite of Professor Glast who is sincere and good at everything he does.
No one knows how Professor Glast maintained a friendly relationship with such a person.
The story of Assistant Professor Claire waking him up for a while to ask him to do some work and then lifting his head sniffing swallowing and then spitting out is also worth seeing.
“What about that... You just have to make it roughly and submit it... .”
“It’s an end-of-semester evaluation. It’s an end-of-semester evaluation... ! End-of-semester evaluation in which all students in charge participate... ! “You know!”
“What is that... Create it appropriately in your lab and submit it... . Well it would be more convenient than having an advisor meddling here and there... .”
After saying that I put my head down on the desk again.
Assistant Professor Claire washed her face dry then slowly backed away and came out of the lab – boom!
Then he closed the door gently and leaned against it resting his forehead against it.
It was very different from Professor Kalide’s evaluation that I was familiar with.
Professor Kalide once worked at Sylvania Academy a long time ago. According to his evaluation at the time he was so strict and often angry that he was considered one of the two mad dogs along with Professor Glast.
Still Assistant Professor Clare is someone who can be thought of as someone like Professor Glast as he has the personality to get things done. However Professor Kallade who was reinstated for some reason was just rolling around on the lab floor like a pitiful old man without doing any work all day.
It has nothing in common with the explanations I have heard.
Naturally the entire workload remained the same.
help me... .”
One tool for human happiness.
It was like a once-in-a-lifetime crisis in the life of Assistant Professor Claire who had been surviving just like that.
“Please save me...” !”
In the end all she had left were her academic assistants who were said to be the most competent in all of Sylvania’s labs.
