Standing at the top of the clock tower, I was still recalling the events that I had just seen before. Everything that I had just been through right now… it made a bit… worried. Worried about the future that was yet to come.
Taking a deep breath in…. And then letting it all out…
"All right. Even if I didn't tell myself to not get out of the tower, it's not like I was planning to immediately get out of here anyway," I spoke out with a calm expression before shaking my head. And then as I finished recalling everything, I recalled the last piece of information he gave me.
It was something that I thought I would try but amidst all the skills and everything else, I totally forgot about it.
'Let's check if it works,' I spoke as my eyes glistened before I typed out a random gift to check if it were possible.
[All the Gift Slots are filled. Would you like to create an additional Gift Slot for 1 Billion GM Points?]
My eyes glistened as I saw it was possible. Even though it was rather costly, it was a game changer in itself. Something like this would probably be worth more than billions if used properly.
I gave it a bit of a thought before pressing [Yes]. Actually, there was something that I was thinking of creating as a skill, but I wasn't really sure of it since it would be either too complex or too overpowered. Though if it were a [Gift], then I think I can use it properly.
[Gift: God of Destruction!
Grade: Origin!
Effects: Allows the user to destroy anything that exists irrespective of limitations or boundaries! Everything that is destroyed becomes a fuel for the user's power!]
[Would you like to create the [Gift: God of Destruction!] for 157 Quadrillion GM Points?]
'Fair enough,' I sighed before editing it the same way as I did with [Cartography!].
[Gift: Defragmentation(Growth-Type)!
Grade: Lower Mortal Grade - 0
Experience Required to Increase to next Grade: Destroy 10 random items.
Effects:
-Allows the user to break any normal item into 2 equal parts!]
[Would you like to create the [Gift: Defragmentation] for 45,000 GM Points?]
If my first [Gift] was focused on [Creation] as its end game, I was going to create my second [Gift] focusing on [Destruction!]. It won't exactly be a perfection in the beginning, but it should become quite useful as it grows along with the first gift.
Though it was costlier than the [Cartography] gift that I had created at its very base, given how it was easier for it to grow, I think the cost makes up for that. Added with the fact that I had millions of GM Points, I didn't need to worry about it at all.
'Should I destroy random items to upgrade and see it?' I gave it a thought since it was appealing but then I decided to let it grow as the battles and adventures to come would let me create as much havoc as possible.
And once again my mind went back to what 'Adrian' of the 'alternate reality' spoke. The way he looked, the place where he was, it made me question a lot of things. But in the end, a single phrase remained in my mind. Searᴄh the NôᴠelFirё.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
'Can you save everyone?'
"What did he mean by that?" I mumbled as I questioned the meaning behind those words. It didn't seem like a simple phrase to me… Well, I don't know about everyone but there were a couple of people that I needed to look out for.
My eyes observed the three groups that were hunting out in the forest, desert and the mountains respectively, and I sighed in relief before I observed Nora and Rosaliyah. They too were doing fine, so I then closed the map.
The only other person that I could think of right now was Annabeth. The one I was contracted with.
'Hmmmm. It's been a while since she killed another monster,' I thought as I didn't get any notifications. I then opened up the [Game Master System], and looking through the [Contracts], I moved towards her name.
And then opening up a window, I saw Annabeth walking along with a boy. The boy didn't look much old, just barely 12 or 13, though looking at the [Immortal Grade] gift he had, made me shudder a bit.
'One should never judge a book by its cover,' I mumbled before continuing to observe her situation.
…
[Location: 45th Floor!]
[Annabeth's POV!]
It's been a long week. Like a really really long week. Though somehow I was more happy with it compared to the times when they were boring.
I was now traveling up the floors where I would soon join the fight with the leader. The fact I could never be of any proper help despite being so strong was something that I have always felt inferior about.
But it all went away when I met Crowley and then that strange being who removed my curse with such ease. It was a blessing that came from an unexpected turn… and I was never more glad with the fact that I happen to get lucky with this.
"Stop grinning, you are scaring me there," the boy beside me spoke. His eyes were genuinely afraid, making me sigh a little.
"If it had been any other person I would have probably even tried to believe it but 10… you are the 7th strongest person in our entire group, even more stronger than me despite my sudden power up. So can you please stop acting so…?" I was speaking before I turned to him, but he had already lost interest in my words.
He was now chasing a butterfly like a young child. Honestly… the fact that his kill count is more than me… I should be the one scared of him and not the other way around.
Truly. You can never judge a book by its cover.
"The path to 46th Floor is a bit tricky," he said as he observed me with a mischievous expression. My guard went up as I tried focusing around me, I observed the monster, the trees, the very environment itself.
-Whoosh!
-Whoosh!
-Whoosh!
In an instant, a dozen monsters, each of them creaking with corrupted energy appeared in front of us. They were shaped like wolves but there was something off about them… despite seemingly being filled with dense energy, they felt hollow for some reason.
"It's all right, they are with us," and then 10 spoke as he moved towards those monsters and touched them on their heads. It's as if dogs were playing with their monster, they all just happily surrounded him… or at least that's how it seemed to be.
"10?" I questioned. This was something that I was witnessing for the first time… something that I have never even heard about before.
My guard went up a dozen times, this time against seat 10 than the dog monsters. The entire situation felt too creepy for some reason.
Pointing my weapon at him, I then asked with a serious gaze in my eyes," 10. Explain what is going on here. Or else… don't blame me for being rough with you."
"Pfft~ Hahaha… that look on your face. Hahahaha! It was totally worth it," he then started out laughing before all the dogs vanished from there. He wiped his non existent tears before speaking,
"It was one of my skills. Hahaha… my god this was worth every effort. Actually the gate to the next floor is just right behind that tree."
My eyes narrowed at him, still not believing him. I didn't feel good about this situation at all. Was it really his skills? It surely didn't seem like it.
I don't know if it was due to my instincts or due to my new Origin energy that helps me see things more clearly but I was sure of it… they weren't a part of his skills. Just that I had no proof to back up my claim.
[It's fine. He is not lying about the gate. Though still be careful of him.]
And easing my worries, came a message. I observed that message for a few seconds before I put my weapon back into my inventory. Truly I was ready to put my life on the line here.
"Let's go. What are you waiting for?" Seat 10 spoke again, with that cheerful smile on his face, before he began walking towards the gate to the next floor.
And taking a step forward, I too, followed behind him as well. Even though I had my guard down a bit, I still wasn't completely relaxed.
The message from that [???] meant two things. First, that 10 wasn't lying about the gate. Second was that there was really something wrong with the situation here.
But still… it's not like I know what is going on here. All I could do is trust my gut feeling right now. And it was screaming that I should never have my guard down. Even for once.
…
[Adrian's POV!]
A silence covered the area where I was standing. I observed the guy whom Annabeth was following, and my eyes kept observing the status he had. Especially the title that guy carried.
[Title: Death's Apostle!]
And somehow… I felt like he would be the strongest of all the foes that I have seen in the Tower up until now.
"Looks like… I should hurry up with my work as well," I sighed as things were simply getting more and more complicated by the minute.
I wonder… What exactly does the future have in store for me?
