Chapter 36 - 36 What a Misfortune

Li Muyang’s tone was very calm.

From the moment he saw his sister, Li Yuechan, to commanding the people to carry the girl into the house, and up to now, Li Muyang hadn’t shown any signs of agitation.

His calm reaction caused the originally noisy crowd to quieten down.

Manager Wang hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded, "Alright, I’ll go and ask Doctor Lin to come over."

Doctor Lin was an old Demon Cultivator who had been in the Outer Sect for more than twenty years. Having completed her menial service, she didn’t wish to leave the Outer Sect to return to the secular world and had stayed in the Refinement Demon Sect’s Outer Sect ever since.

Her medical skills were excellent, and the Outer Sect Disciples would seek her treatment for any serious injuries such as torn tendons or broken bones.

She just charged a high fee.

After Manager Wang jogged away, Li Muyang turned his attention to Guan Xiaoshun.

"Xiaoshun, do you know what happened?"

The remaining Outer Sect Disciples all turned their gaze to Guan Xiaoshun as Li Muyang asked his question.

"Yeah, Xiaoshun, what happened?"

"How did Little Sister Li get such serious injuries all of a sudden?"

These Outer Sect Disciples had been shouted over by Manager Wang to help carry the person, but most of them were just there to join in the excitement.

The living environment in the Outer Sect was extremely closed off, and a little incident could attract a crowd of onlookers.

That’s why there was such a big fuss just to carry Li Yuechan.

Under the curious gaze of the crowd, Guan Xiaoshun sighed and said to Li Muyang,

"Brother Li, Manager Wang and I encountered your sister on the Flying Boat."

"She was already injured by the time we found her, carried by a female Disciple who claimed to be Ning Wan’er."

"Miss Ning said her injuries were serious and she wanted to bring her to you for help."

"Upon hearing it was your sister, Manager Wang hurriedly called everyone to help carry her here to you."

"Miss Ning mentioned she was going back to fetch some medicine, claiming she had some healing drugs with her, and that she would come over later."

At this point, Guan Xiaoshun hesitated for a moment and then continued, "Miss Ning said that a sister from the Inner Sect named Qin Haie was responsible for the injury."

"I’ve heard of that Sister Qin; she is a Direct Disciple of Elder Qi from the Inner Sect and is known to be domineering in her actions."

"She had a quarrel with another Direct Disciple in the city this afternoon, and afterwards, she suddenly lost her temper on the street and injured over a dozen people. I’ve heard that some even died on the spot."

"Little Sister Li was rather lucky; her injuries weren’t that serious. Once Doctor Lin arrives, she will surely be able to heal her."

No one knew how she treated the injured inside, but after a full hour, the door of the tile-roofed house finally opened.

Doctor Lin, with her hands covered in fresh blood, beckoned Guan Xiaoshun to fetch water for her to wash her hands while speaking to Li Muyang.

"You’re this little girl’s husband, aren’t you?"

Doctor Lin glanced at Li Muyang.

Li Muyang shook his head, "I’m her brother."

Doctor Lin didn’t care, "Brother or husband, it’s all the same, as long as you can pay."

"It’s already taken care of now, let me explain the situation to you."

"This little girl’s injury might not look serious, but in fact, it’s troublesome. Qin Haie’s demonic skills can cause persistent corruption to both the flesh and the soul."

"If the residual Demonic Qi in her body isn’t extracted, at the least, her left hand and half her shoulder will rot away, and her face will also be disfigured."

"Right now, I can only save her life, but whether the remaining Demonic Qi inside her can be removed and how much of it can be extracted, that’s up to you."

Doctor Lin spoke in a relaxed tone while washing her hands with the clean water Guan Xiaoshun brought.

Steward Wang, who was nearby, curiously asked, "Sister Lin, little Li doesn’t know medical techniques, how can it be up to him?"

After flicking the water off her hands, Doctor Lin said, "It comes down to him spending money... Extracting this Demonic Qi isn’t hard, but it isn’t easy either."

"There are two methods. One, you go find Qin Haie and get her to voluntarily take back the Demonic Qi she left behind; that’s the cheapest and simplest method."

Doctor Lin’s words made Steward Wang laugh awkwardly.

"Well... Sister Lin, don’t joke. If our bunch of hard-luck cases could afford to invite a person like Qin Haie’s level, would we still be stuck in the Outer Sect?"

Doctor Lin said, "Then there’s only the second method left, spending money."

As she spoke, Doctor Lin rummaged through the storage bag at her waist for a while, and threw a small cauldron to Li Muyang.

"This is an alchemy cauldron. You need to find some Hundred-Year-Old Ginseng, Fifty-Year Vermilion Fruit, and other Spiritual Medicines. Use this alchemy cauldron to refine them into Spiritual Liquid to feed your sister."

"If the Spiritual Liquid is sufficient, then completely extracting the Demonic Qi from your sister’s body isn’t impossible."

"In any case, how much she can recover and how much her body will decay depends on how much silver you, as her brother, have."

Having said that, as soon as Li Muyang pulled out a thick pouch of money, Doctor Lin immediately shook her head.

"You don’t need to give me that much; I only charge for treating the illness."

"As for buying the Spiritual Medicine, that’s for you to do. You don’t think I’d have a stockpile of valuable Spiritual Medicines at home, do you?"

With that, Doctor Lin gave a stern look to the crowd of Outer Sect Disciples gathering at the door, saying, "There are so many poor ghosts in the Outer Sect, who knows when they’ll be stolen."
