Chapter 99: Opportunistic

Lin Luo took the piece of jadeite from Xu Jian’s hand and examined it carefully.

He was able to see some red fissures on the surface which belonged to the type of fissure called ‘porcelain fissure’ because it looked like the cracks formed by a slight collision around the edge of a porcelain cup. This type of fissure usually only stayed on the surface of the matrix stone and had little effect on the jade inside. There would likely be a lot of stone betting experts willing to make a bet on it due to the red color of the fissures, but the tinea scabs around the crack made it really a bit tricky. After all, it was difficult to judge the depth and specific impact of the tinea. It could be said that it was either going to be a big increase or a big failure.

Lin Luo looked at the jade over and over for a long time, before he finally gave his opinion, “I think that it’s worth a bet. The as far as the size goes, this jade isn’t a small one. The area occupied by tinea scabs on the surface isn’t very large, so even if the tinea we can see really did eat away at the jade inside, there should be some usable parts. Considering that the jade inside is a good color, I would be willing to bet on it’s potential.”

Lin Luo wasn’t omnipotent. Apart from the cracks and tinea scabs, there was no other basis to judge on for that specific piece of jadeite. No matter how much he looked over the skin he wouldn’t be able to see anything more. According to his own intuition though, he felt that the piece of jadeite was still worth a bet, and his ’cheat device’ had also confirmed that. He was able to see himself with his special ability that although the tinea scabs did have an impact on the jade inside, the impact was very limited. He could still see the red energy light group in side the jadeite, and judging from the color and brightness of the light group, it looked like there were still a lot of usable parts making the jadeite truly a piece still worth betting on.

“Then let’s cut it open and take a look?!” Xu Jian’s face showed obvious excitement. It was rare that Lin Luo was also optimistic about a piece of jadeite like this. He really wanted to see what the jade inside this piece of material looks like himself!

“Yeah, yeah! Cut it open and let’s have a look!” Other stone gambling experts also echoed one after another.

“Okay.” Lin Luo shook his head helplessly, “but I have limited time. I won’t cut this jadeite myself. How about sending it to the Stone Cutting Department?”

It takes a long time to cut stones, and there was still a warehouse of jadeite waiting for him to review, so he wasn’t willing to stop and waste time on a single stone.

“Ah? That…” Xu Jianyou began to hesitate, as he worried that the stone cutters in the Stone Cutting Department would cut the piece of material carelessly.

“I’ll draw an online and let Manager Li come to cut it in person. Can you rest assured then?” Lin Luo looked at him with amusement.

“I’ll rest assured!” Xu Jian knew that the Manager Li mentioned by Lin Luo was Li Jun, the old master from Kulta who was originally responsible for cutting. Now, because of the company’s path of self-sustainability, a lot of jadeite cutters were needed. Therefore, Xing Mo and Lin Luo specially arranged for Li Jun, an experienced stone-solving master, to come over and serve as the person in charge of the stone-cutting department. Li Jun’s various techniques for cutting and grinding the jadeite are very convincing, and with the lines having been drawn by Lin Luo himself, Xu Jian was even more relieved.

Lin Luo used a light pen to draw a few lines on the surface of the jadeite, then handed the jadeite to the staff member next to him before finally instructing him to ask Li Jun to do the rest of the stone work himself. Xu Jian hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t help but follow. He wanted to witness the emergence of the jade from the piece of jadeite with his own eyes. Several young stone gambling experts also followed.

Lin Luo didn’t care and continued to check other jadeite. The materials piled up around the area were all ones that the stone gambling experts had been unclear on. They were all controversial materials that had both good and bad points to each piece. He chose two more pieces from among them and let the staff take away the others to be sold to jadeite merchants at a low price.

His next step was to review the other jadeite.

In addition to their normal wages, the stone gambling experts employed at PengCheng were also given bonuses based on their performance. The ore mined was randomly distributed to everyone, and they needed to individually screen the raw jadeite they were allocated. Therefore, the rate of accuracy was the standard by which their performance was judged. Once their accuracy fell below 60%, performance would be deducted, and if it fell below 40%, it would be forfeit. After all, while the company spent a lot of money on their employees every month, it wasn’t for them to mess around.

Of course, the company wasn’t unreasonable. Everyone could choose three pieces of dubious material that wouldn’t be included in the performance appraisal. As such, although the winning rate of the jadeite piled on the ground was very low, it would have no effect on the performance score of the stone gambling experts.

Now that Lin Luo had gone to review other batches of jadeite though, it would have an impact on them, so those stone gambling experts who weren’t confident in their decisions all followed Lin Luo in anxious moods.
