This time, they had successfully captured seven key criminals wanted by the Empire and killed one. Meanwhile, the patrol team suffered seven fatalities and a further six people were injured.

After detaining all the prisoners, Gu SiYan took the initiative to find Xing Mo, “Captain, I have important information to report to you.”

“Let’s talk.” Xing Mo already knew what he was about to say, but didn’t show it on his face at all.

Gu SiYan whispered, “This whole thing was a set up by my third grandfather Gu ChangYing[1]. The purpose should be to kill you.”

“Do you know the reason?”

Gu SiYan shook his head, “I only have an uncertain guess.”

“What guess?”

Gu SiYan bit his lip, and finally made up his mind to speak, “My third grandfather hopes that I can be engaged to his adopted son, but I only have you in my heart to the point that I even used my connections to transfer to this patrol team. He may have wanted to get rid of you because of this.”

Xing Mo was caught off guard by the sudden confession and his thoughts became gloomy. He simply shook his head. He and Lin Luo had a stable relationship and as such he wasn’t at all interested in reciprocating Gu SiYan’s feelings. If this had all been done just to eradicate his adopted son’s rival in love, Gu ChangYing didn’t have to make such a move.

“It’s okay. After these people are escorted back the matter will definitely be investigated clearly.” Xing Mo paused, “You’ve done a good job. I’ll report this matter truthfully, and you won’t be implicated. ”

Gu SiYan pursed his lips, as if he wanted to say something more, but finally left in silence.

Xing Mo knew that he felt guilty over the fact that the team member he was in the group with eventually died due to his injuries. Gu SiYan might even have felt that this whole incident was his fault and that without him, these things wouldn’t have happened and so many team members wouldn’t have had to sacrifice their lives.

However Xing Mo thought that even if Gu SiYan hadn’t transferred to the patrol team, Gu ChangYing might have still attacked him.

After Gu SiYan left, Xing Mo contacted the military and gave a detailed report on the situation. His superiors were very happy that Xing Mo had completed such a difficult task so well and asked them to escort all the fugitives back to the Capital Planet as soon as possible for trial. As for the casualties, the military would properly handle them.

After finishing the phone call with military headquarters, Xing Mo sent a message to Yin Ye again. He thought that Yin Ye might know more about Gu ChangYing’s affairs.

Sure enough, after listening to Xing Mo’s narration, Yin Ye immediately guessed the real reason.

“Huh! That shameless old thing! He sure does know how to play dirty!”

It turns out that the Gu family also had an energy company, and through years of operation, it had occupied a large market share in the Empire. Gu ChangYing’s adopted son, Gu QiuYang, had just passed the assessment for senior energy engineer, which was the best time for the company to grow and develop. However, Lin Luo and the PengCheng Energy Company’s sudden rise to fame made the Gu family feel pressured.

He didn’t dare to move against the Yin family, and Lin Luo stayed on Kipola all the time surrounded by surveillance and security which made him unable to be moved against even if he wanted to. By comparison, Xing Mo was a nice easy target. Everyone knew that the relationship between Lin Luo and Xing Mo was very good. If something happened to Xing Mo, it would inevitably cause serious damage to Lin Luo. It might even be the case that he would never recover. Forcing Gu SiYan to forget about his feelings for Xing Mo and go home was just killing two birds with one stone.

It’s a pity that Gu ChangYing knew too little about triple ability users. There were three equal elemental energies in his body, so his attack power was three times that of an ordinary ability user. If he had directly told all six assassins Xing Mo he might have still achieved his goal, but he underestimated Xing Mo’s ability which led to his ultimate failure.

“Don’t tell Xiao Luo about the specifics of this matter.” Xing Mo didn’t want Lin Luo to worry.

“Okay, okay, okay. I understand.” Yin Ye rolled his eyes silently at Xing Mo, “This time you made a great contribution. You caught seven of the most wanted criminals, and you shot one dead. There is hope that your position will rise again.”

Xing Mo also smiled slightly, “I don’t care about that, I just hope to have a few days off to spend with Xiao Luo.”

“I refuse to talk to you if you’re just going to sit here and rub your affection in my face! It hasn’t even been a few months since you were separated. Don’t make it out like you haven’t seen each other in a few years.” Yin Ye waved his hand with a disgusted expression. “Alright, alright, you go and contact your Xiao Luo quickly.”

He turned and sent a communication request to Lin Luo, and was connected almost as soon as the ringback tone sounded. Seeing his lover’s face appear in the light screen, Xing Mo’s eyes suddenly softened.

Xing Mo only told Lin Luo that he had just completed a capture mission and was now escorting the wanted criminals back to the Capital Planet.

“Are you coming back?” Lin Luo’s voice was filled with endless enthusiasm.

“Yes, I’ll be back soon.” Xing Mo said softly, “I miss you.”

“I miss you too…” Lin Luo’s eyes subconsciously moistened slightly. He was used to the feeling of Xing Mo being by his side all the time. Once they were suddenly separated, he couldn’t help but feel quite regretful.
