“Waaahhh!”
Xian screamed with a frightened expression while Li Wen carried him under his arm.
The group was currently moving along the rooftops of buildings while trying to remain in the shadows of the night.
“Will you stop your screaming and point us in the right direction?!”
Lihua snapped towards Xian, who immediately smiled and tried to present himself in a good light as he said.
“Goddess Lihua don’t be angry. I told you I have a bad memory so I only vaguely remember where I escaped.”
For the past hour, they were running around following Xian’s directions, but it was at the 30-minute mark did they realize he was having them running in circles.
Right now they were basically in enemy territory while having no idea how this Poison Demonic Sect hideout was set up, or if they were keeping watch of the city.
They were basically moving around a room full of pins and needles while blindfolded, having no idea when they would step on one of the pins and set off a deadly chain reaction.
“Just try to remember, I don’t want to have to forcefully enter your mind to get the information myself. Your Sea of Consciousness looks like it was severely damaged from whatever experiment they were carrying out on you. Just the slightest touch and it might crumble.”
Li Shen turned his head to Xian as he spoke.
Xian looked at him with slight surprise before he said shocked.
“Wow, you can do something like that?!”
Hearing his shock, the others looked at him strangely.
His knowledge of the cultivation world was so limited he was surprised by things that would be considered normal in said cultivation world.
It must be interesting to see the world from Xian's perspective, despite how naïve he seemed. The things that people would take for granted would be something incredibly special to him.
As the group moved through the night following Xian’s unreliable directions, Lihua was getting anxious since this was wasting time. The Academy was notified, but there was a possibility that the hideout could be alerted by their movements and make a quick escape.
Just as Li Shen too was frowning at the time being wasted, Xian glanced to the right of them and spotted something.
“Wait-Wait! Stop!”
His tone was low but urgent enough that everyone immediately paused.
Xian then pointed at the roof of what looked to be a church which could be seen from where they were. He was specifically pointing at the statue of a woman holding out a rose.
“That statue… I’ve seen it before.”
Xian began but he suddenly paused and clutched his head in a hurry.
"Ugh!"
His expression showed he was in pain. Weird images were flashing in his mind of him running out of a building and then tripping he happened to see this statue.
“What’s wrong with you? Are you okay?”
Li Wen placed down Xian to sit, but he suddenly turned to the church and said excitedly.
“That’s it! That’s the secret hideout I escaped!”
Li Shen’s eyes narrowed at that, and without waiting any further he grabbed Xian by the collar. The roof tile beneath him cracked slightly as his figure disappeared.
Lihua and Li Wen followed close behind him as he headed towards the church. After reaching a building close to it, Li Shen looked over the area with an expressionless face. His eyes under his hood glowed with killing intent.
Then with a flicker, the world in front of him turned dark with golden silk threads everywhere. Immediately, his face turned solemn, the black miasma that was surrounding this building was thicker and more sinister than the city itself.
This was no doubt their hideout.
Whether he would meet the person who hurt Jun in here was highly likely. They’ve already determined that hideouts like these were the Poison Demonic Sect’s, which means the one in the town was as well. The scorpion that was there wasn’t to frame the massacre on them.
‘Bastard, whoever you are I’ll kill you for crippling my disciple and killing my Faction members.’
Li Shen was sympathetic to the fact mortals were being used for experiments, but that was overshadowed by his personal grudge.
Though, something was bothering him…
‘The way how the people in the city are being controlled, I can’t help but think it resembles my plum blossom’s ability to manipulate someone.’
The world returned to normal in his eyes before he dropped Xian and said.
“You stay here, Lihua, Li Wen, let’s go.”
However, Xian hurriedly said.
“No, I want to come with you! You can’t just abandon me after I helped you get here!”
Li Shen turned to him and responded.
“You’ll only get in our way, in the middle of a battle we can’t spare any attention to protect you.”
“Brother Shen, don't look down on me. I know you three are powerful people, but you can’t deny me this chance to find out my origins. I don’t know who I am or what I am, did I have a family before this? If the answers are in that church I want to go in as well.”
Hearing that and seeing Xian’s unusual serious expression, Lihua and Li Wen showed hesitant expressions before they turn to look at Li Shen.
Li Shen stared Xian in the eyes, while indistinguishable flames appeared in them.
This wasn’t the first time Li Shen did this, and what he saw was the same as before.
He wasn’t like Jun who could tell when someone was lying. He could only see their deepest desires and emotions buried in their heart.
What he saw now in Xian’s heart... was terror. He was extremely afraid, but at the same time, he desired to know who he was.
The flames disappeared from Li Shen’s eyes and his gaze on Xian soften somewhat.
However, as he smiled warmly at him, Xian felt all his hairs stand on end.
“You want to join us? Then make sure to carry your own weight.”
As Li Shen said that he grabbed Xian by his collar.
“Eek!”
Xian shrieked and tried to escape. For some reason, he felt a foreboding feeling in his heart. Li Shen’s smile look more like a devil’s own when it had thought of a cruel idea.

In front of the church's large double doors, Xian stood there with trembling legs.
‘Curse that devil, he must have done this because he’s jealous of my superior looks. Fine! I’ll show Goddess Lihua how brave I am, I’ll swagger into this dangerous hideout with confidence!’
Xian puffed out his chest and stepped towards the double doors. He raised his hand high in the air in preparation to bang on them, but his shoulders suddenly slump as his hand barely knock on it.
“...Helloo~”
He cupped his hand against his mouth and called out towards the doors.
After listening for a moment and hearing nothing, he straighten himself and immediately turned around while saying.
“Ah, it looks like I made a mistake, this isn’t the secret base after all, how stupid of me. Hahaha…”
Xian laughed nervously as he went to walk down the steps leading up to the doors at a brisk pace.
Lihua seeing this frown at his cowardice and went to move, but Li Shen held out his hand to stop her.
At the same moment, Xian’s foot hadn’t landed on the second step of the stairs when the doors glowed with runic symbols.
With a loud whoosh, they burst open before three shadows dashed out.
“Eek!!”
Xian felt his scalp go numb and a cold chill went down his spine.
He tried to make a run for it, but the three shadows moved quickly and encircled him.
They were two male and one female demonic disciples.
Xian’s trembling legs gave out, as terrifying pressure emanated from the three.
“Who are you!”
One of the young men barked.
