Huifen perked up upon hearing that, and he waited for his Master to continue after she took a sip of her tea.
“He said that the Ancient Clans created the Heaven Traversing Bridge to prevent cultivators above the Nascent Realm from leaving this sub-region.”
Huifen thought for a moment, then asked puzzled.
“But didn’t we know that already? The only way for someone above the Nascent Realm to exit this place is to break open the void and take the chance to enter chaotic space.”
Lady Ya placed down her tea cup and said.
“I thought so at first, but upon reading his facial expression I realized the oddity in his words. It sounded that to him, he was confused why there was a Heavenly Traversing Bridge in this sub-region that prevents those above the Nascent Realm from leaving.”
Huifen’s eyes flickered and realization dawned on him.
“Why would someone from the Central Continent be confused about the Heaven Traversing Bridge, even though the Ancient Clans were the ones who created it? Unless this was the only Heaven Traversing Bridge, and those from other sub-regions aren’t restricted from leaving their own region and entering the Central Continent like we are.”
It couldn’t be seen but Lady Ya was smiling behind her veil. It could even be heard in her voice as she said.
“Compared to your talents in cultivation, I chose you as my disciple mainly because of your deduction skills and wisdom. Even if I handed off the Mercenary Association to you now, it would be in good hands.”
Huifen smile embarrassingly and said.
“Master, I’m nowhere near as capable as you are. I’m far from ready to become the Leader of the Mercenary Association.”
Huifen's words were genuine as even he wasn’t as good as to pick out those oddities in Long Feng’s words. His Master was way more amazing than him.
Lady Ya smiled behind her veil.
She liked this disciple of hers as he was extremely humble. He had been able to easily understand the oddity she saw in Long Feng's words from her simply giving him a clue. He wasn’t there yet, but he wasn’t far away as he claimed to be.
While thinking this, Lady Ya said.
“Indeed that’s the case. As for why the Ancient Clans would set up this Heaven Traversing Bridge I think it relates to their branch clans being in this sub-region. All who have attempted the bridge, even myself, had felt an overwhelming heavenly might on their shoulders. The further someone walked the heavier it got. As soon as one stopped walking, a mysterious white light would teleport them back to the begging.”
After pausing, Lady Ya continued in realizing tone.
“What could it be other than a test.”
“A test?”
Huifen asked in surprise.
With a nod, Lady Ya continued.
“It’s a way for the Ancient Clans to test the branch members they left behind. Perhaps at the end of that long bridge is a reward from each of them.”
“No wonder those with bloodlines were able to go further than everyone else.”
Huifen said raising his head after a while of thought.
He now remembered the cases of people attempting the bridge, and he specifically remember those with bloodlines having reached further than those without. There was even a large monument at the beginning of the bridge that recorded the names and distance of those who tried crossing it, and all the top thousand was filled with those from a bloodline family. With only a few not of an Ancient Bloodline.
“This should have been realized sooner as now it’s obvious this s the case.”
Lady Ya let out a sigh before she stood up.
“But doesn’t this condemn everyone else to be trapped in this sub-region? Even these Ancient Clan branches haven’t had someone cross that bridge, as no one has ever been able to do so. Now we're stuck in this place like some caged animals.”
Huifen clenched his fists. He realized if he ever wanted to leave this place he would first have to reach the Soul Transformation Realm and attempt to break open the void. Which was basically sentencing him to a fifty percent chance of dying to the chaotic spatial laws.
He could attempt the Heaven Traversing Bridge, but since he did not have an Ancient Bloodline, the bridge would be even more difficult than normal.
The Ancient Clans had really screwed over the people in this sub-region.
Lady Ya came up to Huifen and patted his shoulder before saying.
“Don’t think about it too much, I’ll find some way to have that person reveal how he freely crossed the Heaven Traversing Bridge.”
As Huifen nodded to his Master’s words, the person mentioned was currently teleporting randomly across the Continent.
Long Feng was truly just randomly searching the Continent hoping to find the Faceless Hero.
After dozens of stops and teleportation. The sleeping small boy he was carrying under his arm suddenly woke up and yelled with wide eyes.
“STOP!!”
Frightened by the sudden shout, Long Feng halted his teleportation which resulted in a backlash. After forcefully swallowing down the mouth full of blood, he glared through his veil hat at the small boy and growled.
“What is it, you better have a good reason for almost causing my Qi Circulation to reverse.”
The small boy ignored the threat, and behind his own veil hat, he seemed to be sniffing the air.
“I actually smell someone like me. No, wait!”
Sniff.
Sniff.
“There’s actually two of them! I smell two people like me down there!!”
The small boy was wriggling in Long Feng's arms excitedly, he was extremely happy with this discovery. Long Feng on the other hand had his eyes go wide with incredulity.
He knew how special of an existence this small boy he named Little Xiao was. To think an existence like him would be here in this backwater place, much less two.
Long Feng looked down to see he was above a pretty large city. It was even larger than Mercenary City. With one teleportation he attempted to bypass the grand formation around the city, which he did. But upon entering the city his eyes widen in stupefaction before his body suddenly began falling from the sky.
BANG!
Long Feng's body landed on the ground hard from hundreds of meters in the sky.
On his back, Long Feng’s veil hat was cast aside and a frightened look was on his face. He could have resisted that force, but if he had ever dared to, a killing force that was locked onto him would have destroyed him in body and soul.
“This-what is this?!”
Long Feng yelled in shock.
He had protected Xiao from the fall and as the two slowly got up, they began looking around. Long Feng ignored the surprised looks of the people that just saw him fall from the sky.
Instead, Long Feng's eyes focused on the large golden gates in front of him. There was a sign above it that read.
‘Li Imperial Palace.’
With a solemn expression, Long Feng mumbled.
“Isn’t this similar to the power of one of the Qin Clan’s four Mystic Treasures, the Realm Creation Artifact? Why is it here in this place? Wasn’t it said to have been lost by their disgraced eighth Prince?”
A pile of questions arose in Long Feng’s mind, as he got up and walked towards the Li Clan. He temporarily forgot about what little Xiao sensed and his desire to find that masked person.
This was just too shocking of a discovery.
