Chapter 370 367- Battle At The Southern Border: Profits (1)

Yang Su and the others followed behind Ji Mei's group and before long they notice a crowd forming.

It wasn’t every day the top six rankers on the Southern Border Rankings gathered together like this. Anything related to them would garner the attention of almost everyone in the Southern Border City.

They might not be high-ranking Generals or Captains of their own battalions, however, because of their talents they would eventually become such people. It was a privilege for some to witness the early stages of genius lives before the rise to fame and power.

But the crowd was curiously staring at Yang Su and the others as well.

“Where are Young Lady Ji Mei and the others going? And who are those people following them? From how they are dressed, they seemed to be academy disciples from the Mainland.”

“Huh? Wait, this direction, could it be-?!”

Someone in the crowd cried out upon realizing something.

“They’re heading for the battle arena! Quick, spread the word, even Young Lady Ji Mei looks to be going as well!”

Another voice echoed out similarly realizing the two groups’ destination.

Like a spark meeting a barrel of gun powder, a large uproar made its way across the Southern Border City.

Ji Mei the number one genius of the Southern Border City was going to fight in the battle arena!

Although it was only speculation after seeing her head to the battle arena with some Mainlanders, people could still be seen scrambling out of taverns partially drunk and half dressed out their lodgings half dressed upon receiving this news.

“What’s going on?”

Xiao asked as he saw the once bustling street filled with people become a ghost town.

Lang Feng who was wearing his veil next to him looked in the direction the crowd ran off to.

“Something’s happening, let’s see what it is.”

He then moved tot he battle arena with Xiao by his side, and a submissive Lan Yu Ze a step behind him.

It didn’t take long for Yang Su and the rest to reach the battle arena.

Like most builds in the city, it look completely ugly, but its size was not to be looked down upon. It could probably hold several thousand people at once.

As Yang Su and the rest moved to the entrance, there were already people waiting outside to see them, well, more like Ji Mei and the others.

“Is everyone in the Southern Border City here right now?”

Tai couldn’t help but comment after seeing the number of people still rushing towards the battle arena. It was probably going to be packed at this point.

“Is it because of her? Ji Mei?”

Lihua nodded at Yang Su’s question.

“As you can see, she commands a lot of admiration. She’s the first of her generation to be promoted to the position of Vice Captain of a battalion. And not only is she beautiful, but out of the top geniuses of the four borders, she stands head and shoulder over all of them.”

“She's that strong?”

“From the rumors, it says that she has never been forced to use her full strength when battling. Not against Sea Beasts in or slightly above her own realm, nor against humans.”

Everyone upon hearing Lihua's words were getting more curious about Ji Mei. Even though they didn’t know how they themselves and the disciples of their Celestial Academy compare to the four borders geniuses, they weren’t naive to think they would definitely be stronger.

For Ji Mei to have such an overwhelming gap in strength compared to her peers, they didn’t know if such a person exist on their Mainland besides Li Shen. But even when their Faction Leader was the faceless hero he was slightly hesitant to fight Xian without using his full cards as Ji Mei has.

Xian was the only other Chosen from the Maple Continent in the top five of the Chosen Rankings, now in third place, so maybe Ji Mei's opponents weren't that strong.

Well, if Li Shen had focused more on himself than trying to help them with their own cultivation, he could have become someone like Ji Mei.

So overwhelming strong that he would find it difficult to find someone who could make him use 100% percent of his strength

Was there someone else?

The others all glance at Yang Su.

He was probably the only person right now close to that level of power. Even Fei Yin thought that he might not be able to completely suppress Yang Su as he did before, even with Qiang’s borrowed power.

At the front of the group, Ji Mei was approached by a rather oily-face donut of a man. The fat on this man’s face trembled vigorously as quickly made his way over.

It was rare to see someone with his physique in the cultivation world. This man either chose to remain like this or had a circumstance that prevented him from losing weight.

“Vice Captain Ji Mei, what brings someone of your status here?”

Without a change in expression, Ji Mei said.

“Clear all the events for the day, I’ll be renting the battle arena.”

The fat man blinked.

“All of it? Vice Captain Ji Mei, this-”

A look of hesitation appeared on the chubby man’s face.

“Vice Captain Ji Mei, this would inconvenience a lot of people who have booked a part of the battle arena. Not to mention our losses, we simply-”

The chubby man cut his words short, but his face continued to express his discomfort with Ji Mei's request.

Ji Mei swept her cold gaze across the chubby man. She knew full well of his real intentions.

Ji Mei took out a purple jade medallion that had a blue lion carved on its surface, similar to the insignia on her chest, before casually tossing it the chubby. After which she said.

“Take the required amount. As for the people who will be inconvenienced, tell them my Blue Tiger Battalion is willing to hear their grievances.”

The chubby nervously caught the purple fade medallion, like it was fragile glass that could shatter with a person's touch.

It wasn’t really true that people would be inconvenienced, and even if they were they wouldn’t voice it because of Ji Mei’s identity.

The number one genius of the Southern Border Beast Rankings, she has killed more bests than anyone in her generation. Along with that was her status as a Vice Captain of the Blue Tiger Battalion. An all-female Battalion that does not lack strength even being within the top five of Battalions with the most power and influence in the Southern Border.

Who would dare go to the Blue Tiger Battalion to voice grievances against her?

The chubby man had only said that to emphasize the losses he himself would face if he canceled his revenue stream for a day. Even stopping it for a day would cost him several million spirit stones in profit.

The chubby man knew he couldn’t deny Ji Mei’s request and wanted to have her pay a large sum to make up his losses. However, she had instead given him her Vice Captain medallion and wanted him to take the spirits stones personally.

If he dared to take too much and upset Ji Mei, he might just find himself arrested for one of his many crimes people like Ji Mei usually overlook. He was merely the manager of the battle arena. Even though that sounded like it came with power, he was just as replaceable as someone who cleans the stage in the battle arena by the people really in charge.

The chubby man cried out internally that this Ji Mei was really a schemer despite not looking like it.

With a heart full of grievances he dare not reveal, the chubby man skillfully extracted spirit stones from Ji Mei's medallion before handing it back to her.

Ji Mei looked at the amount he took and she nodded with a satisfied smile as if to say he was let off the hook.

Forcing a smile, the chubby man then said.

“I hope Vice Captain Ji Mei would put on a good show, a lot of your admirers have attended just to see you battle.”

Ji Mei, however, didn’t respond to him and only walked past him along with the others.

As he watched Ji Mei leave, the chubby man’s downcast mood did a 180 and he excitedly said to one of the guards by the entrance.

“Quick! Bar anyone from entering the battle arena! All who wants to enter will have to pay an entry fee of fifty- wait no, a thousand low-grade spirit stones!!”

The fat on the man’s face trembled as he yelled that and the guards didn’t hesitate to carry out his orders.

Soon, enraged cries of people could be heard after hearing they now have to pay to enter.

The chubby man wasn’t done, however, and he pointed at a single guard and said.

“You! Go inform the battle arena Head Guard to have the current occupants in the arena pay the commission fee, if they refuse kick them out!”

“What the fuck?! This greedy bastard!!”

A yell immediately echoed out from a man who overheard the chubby man’s words.
