"Ah…w-wait, no, don't do that youngest brother!"
Shi Meng realizing what his brother intended to do hurriedly went to stop him.
One would think it was Shi Meng or Shi Lei Hu who would be the rash and brutish ones giving their looks, and indeed they were, but when it came to their youngest they couldn't compare.
There was a reason why his disciple was known as the Southern Wild Demon. And that wasn't just because of his origins but because he had an equally lunatic person as his master.
It was only after stressing how big the backlash would be if a General massacred low-level Sea Beasts that Shi Meng was able to stop Shi Chun.
As Shi Meng was sighing in relief after managing to calm down Shi Chun, he heard someone frantically calling his name.
"Lieutenant Meng! Lieutenant Meng! Bad news!!"
"Ugh."
Shi Meng groaned.
'Wasn't this a familiar scene?'
Looking at the female soldier that came up to the edge of the wall he roared out annoyed.
"Bastard! What are you calling me for!!"
The woman seeing Shi Meng's reaction yelped and took a step back out of fear.
'Bastard, how dare you send me to my death?'
The woman couldn't help but cursed that middle-aged man that made her come to report to Shi Meng.
While shaking uncontrollably, she barely managed to stutter out.
"Li-Lieutenant Meng, those from the Mainland that came to depart to the Star Bound Continent have yet to leave. Also several-"
"What?!!"
Shi Meng roared out once more cutting off the woman. He then looked far into the distance along the wall and indeed he saw their flying ship that was supposed to have left long ago.
"Those bastards, what were they waiting for?! How do they expect to leave now that this situation has occurred?!"
"Li-Lieutenant Meng, they were planning to leave later but first they wanted their disciples to experience the environment of a border city."
"Hm, I guess that makes sense. They always send those garden flowers for tempering here."
"Also, Lieutenant-!"
"What?! You have more to report?!"
The woman was in a hurry to say something else but was cut off again to her dismay.
"Y-Yes, Lieutenant Meng. It seems a lot of their disciples were outside of the wall and were caught up in the battle when the wall was closed off."
Shi Meng's face turned completely dark upon hearing.
"Fool! Why didn't you say that earlier?!!"
He roared out even louder than before.
'I was trying to but you wouldn't let me!'
The woman yelled internally, completely frustrated by this Lieutenant's unreasonableness.
Ignoring the woman, Shi Meng turned and was prepared to fly towards the Mercenary Association's Carrier.
But before he could, Shi Chun stopped him.
"Wait, second brother let me handle this. I'll even escort them through this mess to the Star Bound Continent."
Shi Meng paused at that. It was a good idea to let his brother do it, but…
Shi Chun saw Shi Meng suddenly looking at him with a suspicious expression.
"Second brother, there's no need to look at me so suspiciously. With the way things are going, those Mainlanders are only going to get dragged into this battle. It hasn't come to the point of us needing the help of Mainlanders to fight against these Sea Beasts, so it's best if they either head to the Star Bound Continent for their Chosen Tournament, or head back to the Mainland and wait for this situation to be over. But since their tournament is starting in a few days and the situation here won't end anytime soon, the second option is out of the picture. With that, it'll be best for them to head to the Star Bound Continent now. And what better way to do that safely than have a mighty General of the Southern Border escort them? Plus, I want to speak with one of them. I receive news that my disciple had gone berserk but that Mainlander had managed to stop him. I want to know how he did it."
After listening to his brother's explanation, it really seemed like this was the only choice. However, Shi Meng was still suspicious.
"Youngest brother, you must control yourself and not do something reckless."
"I know, I know second brother."
"You must assess the situation and know when to act, as a General you should be aware that each of your actions sends a message."
"Ugh, this is just like when we were younger. How can you not change even after so long? No wonder our eldest brother stays in seclusion to avoid you."
"Bastard, who is he avoiding? It's you because of your reckless attitude!"
Just as it seemed these two brothers were going to argue, a depressed voice drifted over to break them up.
"I went into seclusion to avoid the both of you."
"Eldest brother!"
"Eldest brother!"
Shi Meng and Shi Chun hearing this voice called out.
"Eldest brother, you're definitely annoyed by second brother more than me right?"
"What? Of course not! It's you he's more annoyed at!"
"Enough, the both of you!"
Along with that shout, Shi Meng and Shi Chun felt a terrifying aura rising from somewhere in the city, and they could clearly feel two pairs of eyes staring daggers at them.
"Look what you did, you angered our eldest brother."
"What, it was you."
Sigh!
"You two are no longer children, how can you behave like this in public? Aren't you ashamed of yourselves to have people see you acting like this?"
Upon hearing that, Shi Meng and Shi Chun looked down and saw that the woman was still there. Her expression had long gone from terrified to weird, and then to dumbfoundment when she saw how these high-ranking officials were bickering like children.
She really can't see them the same as before after witnessing this.
Shi Meng and Shi Chun coughed awkwardly upon seeing her expression.
"Shi Chun, I need you to help those Mainlanders trapped outside the wall and escort them to the Star Bound Continent. All the way just in case."
"Yes, eldest brother! I was planning on doing that already."
"Shi Meng, you should prepare to battle those Rank 4 Sea Beasts. This is just the first day and there might be more so don't tire out yourself."
Shi Meng nodded, but he suddenly thought of something.
"Eldest brother, those other Lieutenants are really too shameless to be disregarding their duties. You should punish them according to the military rules of abandon post, a fifty-year deduction in pay, and a demotion in rank."
"...Y-You brat. Are you trying to use your older brother to get back at the people you lost a bet to?"
Shi Meng hearing the anger in his brother's voice smiled cautiously before he chuckled nervously and said.
"Eldest brother, how did you know about my bet, I thought you were in seclusion."
A sigh was heard once more before Shi Lei Hu said.
"Alright, enough wasting time, get to your tasks."
"Yes, eldest brother!"
"Yes, elder brother!"
Shi Chun's figure suddenly vanished heading to gather up the Mainlanders heading for the Star Bound Continent, while Shi Meng flew to retrieve his great saber in preparation for a long fight.
Somewhere in the city, Shi Lei Hu had his legs crossed with arms folded as he sat on top of a building that could allow him to see over the wall.
"Those two brats."
Shi Lei Hu couldn't help but mumble before shaking his head. His eyes then went back to observing the horizon.
Shi Lei Hu could clearly sense the presence of a Sea Lord loitering behind the beast wave.
"What is that Sea King planning after giving the Commander-in-chief that warning? Saying he'll wipe out all the remaining bloodlines of the Leviathan race even if he had to destroy our Four Border Cities to do so. Such an ominous warning, but, does it even matter?"
Despite his physique being on the smaller side compared to Shi Meng, Shi Lei Hu was still a large man who just by sitting there caused the void to distort.
Among the Generals, he only had one equal and that was similarly in the late stage of the Soul Transformation Realm as him, and that was the Blue Tiger Battalion General, Ji Yuwei.
The rest were only in the Early Soul Transformation Realm like his youngest brother, however, they and the other borders that had similar strength fear the Beast King's threats.
"He wants our golden goose, but does he think we'll let him have it?"
