Roa says she really wants to see me add the next magic item, so we go with Hipopo to the pond where we rescued the white lizard.

“Hipopo, check just in case.”

“Bumoh!”

Responds Hipopo before jumping into the pond.

Roa watches silently as I prepare the magic item I want to set here. Having that said, the magic item itself is already made. It would’ve been difficult to make with a simple transmutation, so I did it in my tent beforehand.

I take out this magic item. At first glance it looks like a pipe the size of a person. I coated it with the smell of the poison in the catfish monster’s tentacles to repel other monsters. Because of this, there’s a peculiar smell in the air, and the monsters in this area are probably already wary of it.

Hipopo suddenly emerges from the pond with several fish type monsters in its mouth. None of them are particularly big.

It looks like other monsters have started coming to this pond now that the catfish monster is gone.

“Thank you Hipopo.”

I say before beginning to set the magic item.

“What’s that? Does it use the magic stone of a specific monster?”

Asks Roa while peeking from behind.

“It does. That’s why I had to leave, to look for that monster. I had to go to the volcano, and the heat was terrible.”

“What kind of monster?”

“One called paralyzing cloud.”

“…! That monster is special grade in the danger rank. Physical attacks don’t work against it…”

“Yes. That’s right.”

I say while pushing the magic item into the water as if it were a boat.

“Let’s make it so we are notified if the pond is dry, set the target, set it so it receives feedback to switch…”

I make minor adjustments to the magic board.

Of course, I don’t do it directly, or I’d get my legs wet. I use the 《Project》 scroll and work without entering the pond.

“Done! I’m going to turn it on.”

I say to Roa.

A magic circle expands from the center of the magic item when I turn it on. The magic circle goes down into the surface of the water, lowering the magic item.

“What magic item is that?”

Asks Roa.

“I created it, so it doesn’t really have a name, but I guess I would call it a cloud style water distribution device.”

I answer as I watch it in operation.

The surface of the pond touching the magic circle turns into clouds.

“White clouds? Is it heating the water?”

“No, because then it would cost too much to process large amounts of water. That’s why I’m using the paralyzing cloud’s magic stone.”

“What do you mean?”

Roa is talking and asking a lot more questions than usual. She really is excited about us having more water.

“Paralyzing cloud is a cloud monster, but it uses the magic stone that is its core to rewrite the laws of physics around it. It turns water into a cloud, and controls it so it doesn’t dissipate. That device is fundamentally the same.”

As I explain, the clouds coming from the magic circle gather at the top of the magic item and become one. They then begin to move towards the camp, looking like a horizontal line of smoke.

“The clouds are gathering and moving to the camp’s water jugs just like that. I wrote another magic circle in the jugs to indicate their destination. Once they get there, the magic rewriting the laws of physics is undone, and it turns back into water.”

“A-all the way to the camp!? You can carry water like this… It can’t be…”

Says a surprised Roa.

“Really? But here in a remote region, monsters would break pipes if we tried to use them to carry water to the camp, even if they were underground. And we don’t have enough materials to use monster repellent the whole way. Roa, try messing with that cloud.”

I say while pointing to the line of clouds coming from the device, and Roa silently swings her spear towards it.

The wind pressure does disrupt the cloud for a second, but it soon continues moving towards the camp.

“One of its advantages is that it’s not easily disturbed.”

Roa is speechless for some reason.

I take out a transcribe scroll to check the condition of the cloud style water distribution device. I’m receiving feedback from the jugs in the camp, so I can start getting ready to go back.

“Roa, we can return to the camp.”

But then.

“My sister Ahri is coming.”

Says Roa, who apparently sees it with the power in her eyes.

We wait for a bit, and then we see Ahri running towards us and screaming something.

“Master Rust! Lady Kalin requests that you return immediately!”

Looks like Kalin is calling me.
