“《Activate》”
I activate a scroll, and Roa holds out her dominant hand towards me.
There’s something I want to do before we storm Toma. It’s one of the scrolls and magic items I prepared to take back the capital.
“《Magic Crest Applied on Human Body》, Roa, 《Running Water Film》.”
Roa places the palm of her hand on the active scroll.
The light of magic elements coming from the scroll pierces through her hand. Where this light passes, a mark that looks like a silver bruise is left on the back of her hand.
“All right, it’s done. But be careful, because the effect of this magic crest doesn’t last long. Also, the targets are the potions on this belt.”
I show everyone a belt with potions already set on it.
Roa pulls her hand away from the scroll, and rubs it while opening and closing it.
She looks puzzled.
“I’ve never seen something like this. I didn’t even feel anything. Is this a magic circuit?”
I struggle to explain magic crests in a way she’ll understand.
“Well, it’s a type of magic circuit. We call them magic crests when they’re written directly into someone’s body.”
“As expected from you. You even developed a new technique like this.”
Ahri says, but Roa is in her own world, and points at the belt I’m holding.
“And we wear that around our waists?”
“Yes. I guess you could wear them how you want, but the length is perfect to wear around the waist or on the shoulder.”
“Yes.”
Roa then spreads her arms to the sides for some reason. I guess she wants me to put it on for her.
I freeze for a second. There’s no way I’m not going to hesitate.
Roa keeps her arms spread and has her usual emotionless expression on her face. I have no idea what she’s thinking, but the pressure of her silence defeats me.
“…Yes.”
I hand the belt over to Ahri like I’m pushing it onto her.
“Taula, you’re next. Give me your hand.”
“Oh, yes, thank you.”
Taula’s eyes are glued on Ahri and Roa as Ahri puts the belt on Roa, before they turn over my way.
She puts out her hand, and I do the same thing I did with Roa.
Taula grimaces a little, and looks at the back of her hand.
“It kind of reminds me of the shaman’s curse.”
She says deliberately.
“Now that you mention it…”
I ponder if I should apologize, but in the meantime, Taula grabs one of the belts I prepared and puts it on.
While she does this, I apply the running water magic crest on Ahri too.
“Now, everyone grab your weapons. Ah, be careful not to let them slip.”
I tell them, and they oblige.
“Ugeh. What is this feeling?”
“Uwah.”
“I see…”
There’s something thin around their weapons. It’s potion.
The magic crests use the potions on their waist and coats their weapons with them.
That way, even if they attack enemies controlled by the parasitic mushrooms, the potions will heal them. Also, the attacks can purify the mushrooms.
Now we’re ready.
“Ah, that’s right. This is a new amulet. This is for you Ahri, and this is for Taula. Roa doesn’t need a new one just yet, right? We should be going soon.”
I cap it off by giving them amulets, and we march into Toma.
