“Yes, that sounds interesting.”
At a glance, Lily is smiling brightly as she accepts.
“But this is the fastest cat in the whole kingdom, and the ones ridden by Zoroa and Lismist are this one’s sisters. Would this not put the savior of our kingdom in too much of a disadvantage?”
Lily says while petting the cat riding beast she’s straddling. Her movements seem kind, but I feel a coldness coming from her eyes as she looks at Hipopo and Charil.
“Is that so? I don’t feel like we would be at a disadvantage. Can you decide the starting point and the goal?”
I ignore what she called me and speak in a way that makes it obvious I want to start soon. I can also feel Roa’s mood getting worse, since she likes Charil.
I feel like she’s making fun of Hipopo too, but what Princess Lily is saying is actually completely off the mark.
Hipopo type transmuted beasts are my own creation, so I think they’re misjudging their strength.
Considering what happened before and now this, I think despite her looking into me there’s a lot she doesn’t really understand.
I on the other hand know the two-tailed cat transmuted beasts they’re straddling pretty well. I had a hand in developing that type back when I was in the alchemist association.
In fact, their riding beasts are probably of the same lineage of the ones made back then. I can tell by the feel of the magic elements. I’m glad to see they’re being well taken care of.
They’re being well groomed, and I can feel the balance in their build that comes from having proper nutrition and supply of magic stones. They also seem to like their owners. I end up staring at them with affection.
“Very well. The starting point will be the gate to the capital, and the goal will be the mausoleum in the Kershul hill. You can get there by just going straight through the main road. What do you think?”
“Yes, I know where it is. That will do.”
I accept right away. Kershul. I know the place, it’s the mausoleum standing on the hill named after King Kershul.
That makes my victory a certainty, but I also feel I shouldn’t completely crush them.
I peek over at Roa while we move, and she seems raring to go. We soon reach the gate, and I don’t find an opportunity to tell her to go easy on them.
Lily talks to us before we start.
“Well then. Since we are going to race, don’t you think it would be boring to just have the riding beasts run?”
Says the Sword Princess, while putting her fingers together and tilting her head.
