“Kyuu!”
Seilook lets out a high-pitched cry, and two half-transparent plates appear in front of us.
The plate in front of me is the one that shows whatever increased after I took in the light that burst out of that cube.
It all reminds me of when I formed the contract with Seilook.
“Master Rust, you’re bleeding!”
Princess Lily, who doesn’t know any of this, comes running, but I raise my hand to stop her.
“Seilook, is this necessary?”
“Kyu! Kyu!”
Seilook comes down off my shoulder, and looks at me with a serious expression while still in mid-air. Its tail is waving up and down, like it’s saying yes.
I hesitate for a second.
“All right.”
In the end, I touch the symbols on the plate.
The symbols I think are numbers start going down, and two more appear in front of me.
I can read these now, because I see that double-exposure.
They say ‘yes’ and ‘no’, so obviously I touch the ‘yes’.
A white light bursts out of the wound made by Seilook’s fang, which is still oozing some blood.
The light moves to Seilook like it’s being sucked into it, and Seilook’s body shines.
“How sublime…”
“Is this the light of god?”
“We have to do whatever it takes to obtain this, for our country…”
I can hear the surprised whispers of Princess Lily and her knights. One of them made her desires all too clear…
The light filling the area around us starts to die down.
Seilook’s body has gotten bigger, and it has a couple more wings.
“Gyururu.”
Seilook’s cry has become a little deeper. It tries to sit on my shoulder, but doesn’t quite fit.
It’s heavy too.
I stumble a little, and Seilook lets out another loud cry.
“Gyuuu!”
It sounds like a warning.
“Roa! Do you see anything!?”
I ask Roa right away.
“…! The mausoleum! It’s crumbling, and something’s coming out!”
As if signaled by these words, a few things happen.
Seilook spreads its two pairs of wings widely, with the shine of magic elements.
Zoroa and Lismist throw themselves between the mausoleum and Princess Lily to protect her.
I grab Roa by the hand to take us away from the mausoleum.
And then, it comes crumbling down.
A lot of rubble flies our way, but it stops in mid-air like it hit a wall, before falling to the ground.
It’s a barrier created by the magic elements released from Seilook’s wings.
The magic elements were activated like a shield, and protected us, including Princess Lily and her knights.
All the rubble flying our way was stopped by Seilook’s magic element shield, and a cloud of dust rises from the rubble of the collapsed mausoleum.
And from that cloud, a large, dark shadow leaps out.
