It’s late at night, and I’m in the laboratory.
I take off the right hand glove I made with the materials I had available, and slowly open my hand.
“Is it good like this?”
It’s been a few days since I was stabbed with a sword and almost had my body taken over by the shaman, and things have finally calmed down.
These last few days have been very busy.
Yesterday for example, in recognition of my efforts in the defense of Habbafulton, Kalin sent me to a parade to raise public awareness.
I rode Seilook, was lauded as a hero, and waved while dressed up. It was quite the public humiliation.
At least everyone was smiling, and I got a special bonus too.
And tomorrow, it’s the official establishment of the new territory. At least I’m getting there the same day, since Seilook will be taking me.
All of this means that I’m only now getting the time to look into my right hand.
“So is this really a curse…”
I whisper while grabbing a magic stone I’m using to experiment with my right hand.
The curse falling from my hand wraps around the magic stone.
The shaman’s consciousness was flowing into me, which I guess included all sorts of information.
Among them, was information about curses, and so, I just kind of understand how to use them.
It could also be because of that thing that looked like a 『box』 that I grabbed.
I grab a magic crystal that I also brought to experiment with, but the curse is repelled.
Are transmuted things very hard to mess with using curses? Did the shaman hate alchemy?
I grab the magic stone again, and when it’s in my hand, I can somehow feel how much I can curse it.
I try cursing it just to see.
Patterns… I see. Patterns stack, and decide what curse is manifested.
It’s a bit like magic circuits, although this one feels more literal.
I use this newfound knowledge to try to put a simple curse on this magic stone.
And then, the patterns carved into the magic stone transform into something that looks like a wing.
I put a little bit of strength into it, and throw the newly cursed magic stone.
The moment it leaves my hand, the curse activates.
The magic stone stops in mid-air, and hangs there without falling.
But it won’t stay there for long. The curse slowly consumes what it takes from the magic stone to power itself.
This is the most notable thing about the curse. It activates by consuming the 『points』 of whatever was cursed.
It looks like all things in this world, big or small, have 『points』, and when they run out of 『points』, this happens.
The magic stone’s 『points』 dry up, and it falls.
But just before it hits the ground, some kind of smoke comes out, and the magic stone vanishes completely.
“This really isn’t something I should use lightly.”
I take the glove I removed, and put it on again to hide my right hand.
