“Master Rust, should you really interfere?”
I activate multiple scrolls that hover around me, when Roa calls for my attention.
“What do you mean? Do you see something?”
Is she warning me because she can see something with her magic eyes?
She skillfully swings her spear while shaking her head.
“No, Lady Kalin. She is definitely going to sulk if you step in and defeat that thing right away.”
“Ah… I see. No, it’s not like I’m guaranteed to take it down right away. But I guess it’s true that doing nothing but office work for some time has left Kalin pretty stressed.”
I say that last part quietly, after denying Roa’s overestimation of me. But she’s right in that I shouldn’t meddle, and should probably watch and see how this goes for a bit.
It took a little while, but now that I look at it more closely, I can see the giant ladybug is in tatters. It’s definitely not blocking their attacks completely. As for Kalin’s stamina… No worries there.
Looking at Kalin energetically swinging her sword around actually makes me think it might be best if I leave this to her and Roa and head straight for the castle.
But then Ahri comes up behind me, with Princess Lily hiding behind her.
“Are you thinking of going on ahead, Master Rust?”
It’s like she read my mind.
“I gave her a potion and she regained consciousness, so she will be taking refuge with the others.”
“That’s good. But I don’t think Kalin needs my help.”
“No, finish it right away, Master Rust. I can see a not so good future.”
Ahri says with a serious face and magic elements glittering in her eye.
Roa and I look at each other.
“My sister Ahri is always right.”
Roa flip-flops and looks smug about it for some reason.
“…! All right. Kalin, I’m coming to help!”
“Rust? But I’m having fun. Was it Ahri?”
“Apparently!”
I call out to Kalin as she jumps around.
“Lady Kalin! I’m sorry, but have patience!”
“Oh all right. Take care of the rest then.”
Kalin was jumping around slashing at the giant ladybug, but she stops attacking and takes a big jump back, spinning in the air and landing near us.
Then she slaps my back with her free hand and pushes me forward.
“..! K-Kalin? That hurts.”
I complain as I put my active scrolls into operation.
