232 Caring About Her
In the apocalypse, Yun Ran was the one who was at the front every time.
“Mo Beiyuan, I don’t think there’s any danger here.”
Yun Ran twitched her nose. This was also a habit she had developed in the apocalypse. With a sniff, she could roughly estimate if there was any danger. Generally, zombie nests would have the smell of decay and pungent blood. The stronger the smell of blood, the more dangerous it was.
Yun Ran was also using this method to determine if there was any danger in the darkroom.
Mo Beiyuan looked up at her. The little girl’s eyes were wide open as she said seriously. Her expression was very similar to Sweetcake’s.
It was easy to soften one’s heart with that expression.
“Follow me. Don’t touch anything. Be careful of traps and hidden weapons.”
“Alright, I understand.”
Mo Beiyuan walked in front with the lighter, and Yun Ran obediently followed behind him. The two of them came down to the underground secret room one after another.
“Is Yun Zhiyuan a gopher? He’s so good at digging. He doesn’t go into the ancestral hall every day just to dig a hole, right?”
Yun Ran really did not expect there to be such a long path underground.
A faint smile appeared in Mo Beiyuan’s eyes. At first, he could not understand who his Sweetcake had taken after with her chatterbox personality. Now, he finally figured it out. She should have taken after her mother, Yun Ran.
Yun Ran did not know that she was already a chatterbox in someone’s heart.
Along the way, they talked and made a fuss, but they still had to be careful.
The two of them walked for about half a mile underground before the space in front of them finally widened. There was a faint light spreading out. It was an empty underground dark room. The dark room was not big.
Under the faint candlelight that had yet to burn out, Yun Ran saw the general situation in the dark room. Her gaze finally fixed on a black shadow curled up in the corner.
‘Is that a human being?’
Her long hair was disheveled and she was lying with her back facing them. Her figure was thin and bony.
Was Yun Zhiyuan hiding someone underground?
Could this person be the Bai Wan they had been looking for?
Yun Ran took a few steps forward, planning to take a look, but she was pulled back by Mo Beiyuan’s long arm.
“Do you know who this person is? Why are you moving forward?”
Mo Beiyuan felt that he really needed to teach this woman what fear was.
“I just don’t know, so I want to take a look! Maybe it’s Bai Wan!”
Yunran felt that Mo Beiyuan was really not curious at all. He was still so calm at this moment.
Yun Ran crossed her arms and looked straight at him with her beautiful watery eyes. She raised her pink lips and joked, “Is there anyone else and anything in this world that can make you a little nervous other than Sweetcake and Bun?”
Mo Beiyuan met those smiling eyes and replied in a low voice, “Yes.”
“Who?”
Yun Ran asked curiously.
“You.”
It was still a simple answer. It was just one word, but it made waves in Yun Ran’s heart. But then she thought of the voodoo bond between them and smiled. “I understand. If something happens to me, something will happen to you. That’s why you’re worried about me.”
Was that what it was?
Mo Beiyuan stared at her with a deep gaze. At first, it was indeed because of the Gu poison, but now, even he could not tell why he wanted to protect her.
“I’ll go over and take a look first. You… stay behind me.”
At some point in time, he had become more and more concerned about her. As long as she appeared by his side, all his thoughts would be attracted to her. Protecting her seemed to have become his instinct.
